That would be enough to grab my attention, but something tells me he wouldn’t be that good a fit for the grim and moody style of the show.

    @Avon,
Quite possibly! Beast Wars in the main line again is likely being considered another sign in some fan circles :D

My one concern with Magic Square and a combiner is that many of their figures have very tiny tabs which don't feel like they'd break because their plastic seems really sturdy but they can be a bastard to fit into place properly eg the 2 on Sideswipe's roof.

I hope they took a long, hard look at Iron Factory Bruticus during the design process because even though the 2 companies have a very different aesthetic there's still a lot can be learned from Bruticus in how to do a combiner at that scale with little to no compromises to individual robot & vehicle modes.

So, uh, yeah, I know our wallets are already haemorrhaging but, hear me out, anyone else up for a Selects Tomahawk out of Rotorstorm and his new head?

I really feels this body with THAT head could totally sing in Black/Gold/Tan, yeah?

Man, I really should appreciate the toys I got more instead of imagining future possible spends, when an idea grabs you though, eh?

Oh yeah completely forgot it predicted commander Skylynx as a rocket base as well as the micromaster bases. Think I'd take the transports bit with a pinch of salt, that's the kind of thing that to me sounds like a planning idea that could have been narrowed down to just the bases but then again could still happen somewhere.

Comon lads, give us some pictures of Voyager Thrust, eh? I know you’re trying to live on incredibly low wages in East Asia but could you please steal a toy from the assembly line so some lummocks on a forum can debate whether it’s better than the Classics one? :lol  :lol  :lol

just saw that DLX Optimus promo image, very strange. It brings into question whether or not the show uses modified versions of the Siege toys’ CAD models, seeing as the $200 Optimus figure in the promo is doing a full-on Ab crunch with his shoulders lifting on a pair of joints the toy just doesn’t have.

I’d say Airwave is a holdover from this “Transporter” idea, he has wheels on the backs of his thighs and two of his three alt modes can roll as a result.

I think my only real complaint about the Micromaster bases is not getting Groundshaker & Skyhopper. I had those two as a kid and loved them.

Does anyone know what these Fossiliser things are meant to be? I'm assuming it's not a Rock Lord revival.

Could definitely be the case, probably wouldn't take much to turn him into the boat mode of flattop either.

In other news my shapeways head came for guzzle. Kindly delivered and assisted in painting by @Rotorstorm

I am happy enough with Rotorstorm, black and gold would look good for sure though

Well, the crotch is reused from Siege Brunt

As are the aforementioned thighs, they’re nearly identical in design, with tracks and wheels in the same places as the ones on Brunt. I can’t remember if anything else is similar though.

I can definitely see a Flattop using the same engineering as him, absolutely. Especially with those legs that fold out into long landing strips.

EDIT: great work on that Guzzle to both of you!

Naw, that's because he's been designed to double as Hothouse base mode, which is actually a tank, so he gets that bonus mobile mode out of it.

NOICE! Might have to try dipping one of these Brunts in red to make him more grapetacular for Scorpy though.

It seems ID's bargain bots are (possibly grey market) imports which means they come with dual instructions that, though linguistically unfathomable, are otherwaise way more legible than the crappy western buff stuff!

Oh yeah for sure this mode is hothouse. Yet again It wouldn't take much to retool into roughs tuff. Greasepit could even work as erector with some mods. Credit to rotorstorm for this pic.

Hm. At £117 these are a hard pass for me. The TR Chromedome and Rewind are still ace, not oversized and leave £80 left over. Also, does Rewind transform into a briefcase?

Have to agree that these have priced themselves out of the market. I love the comic and enjoy these characters, but I was never in love with this Chromedome design. Definitely not for £117.

Fully agree. Plus, I’m not sure if it’s just me, but I feel like Chromedome’s neck seems a little too long and makes his head look like it’s floating.

All the love for scorponok, I felt I should revisit OS. Attention, appreciated. Pose, dramatic.

I do worry about MMC going down the Maketoys route. They have invested so much in their IDW line, while having sort of sub lines outside of it you wonder how they are doing financially. Releases are sporadic and I just feel they they are the next possibility of disappearing.

But again, a hard pass from me too.

Updated the battle scene to include Scorponok, managed to squeeze everyone in (some hidden from this angle) with some notable exceptions:
    • Magnus/Impactor hanging with the Wreckers.
    • Flywheels/Spinister with the Scavengers.
    • Sky Lynx: too bloody big. But he's happy enough lording it up on the shelf above.
(Had to remove the Predacons from the scene too, again for space reasons. They can chill as individuals for now.)

Can't wait to rearrange it all again when the next wave hits...
