Yeah, glad I waited for this guy. He still comes with the purple DiaMech, right? Can the scythe store anyplace in car or truck mode? Can either of the li'l bots carry the scythe?

 

What is the flame commander issue?
Has it been resolved?

 

Yeah, it looks like he comes with all the same accessories. But naw, his Targetmaster doesn't have any ports in his hands to hold anything, and the scythe is too big for the holes in the mech's hands. As far as I can tell, there's nowhere for the scythe to go in vehicle mode- its a long weapon and doesn't fold down or anything, so I don't see where it would. I think since the scythe was added after the fact, it doesn't seem like they came up with a way to incorporate it into the alt modes.

From what people have been saying since I first posted, it sounds like the back heels are higher than the front ones on the original Flame Commander, so he easily falls over. Which how the heck did that get past quality testing? I looked at the feet on mine, and the back heels are still higher than the front ones, but they do have a tab at the bottom (that was apparently not present in the original) now to support the rear of the feet.

 

For anyone who has the regular Flame Commander... honestly... just don't flip down the heel, he stands better that way  

 

I popped the feet off the original and spent about two minutes sanding the heels on the side closer to the pin. Just enough to give clearance to angle the heels just the slightest bit lower than the toes. Absolutely no issues standing now.

 

Hmm. SO basically there's a v2 or 2nd batch with the heel balancing issues fixed? If so, no the question becomes how can someone ensure that the version they are buying is the one with that issue fixed?

 

no there is not a v2 or second batch. he is talking about the dark rodimus version and not the stock roddy.

on the first g1 rodimus he has trash heals are virtually nonexistent. so he is prone to having a shitty center of gravity and a pain in the ass to pose normally. the recolor addressed this by adding little nubs on the back to give him a little more contact below.

but as far as i know this was never done to the old rodimus released from MFT.

if you can make do buy him if you want it. it is a really nice bot as far as the finish and the extras go. you could even sand the heals to flip them down a little bit more.

but for me i was never satisfied with that bot and i almost immediately regretted that purchase. that almost never happens to me either so i know he was a bad bot. luckily i was able to trade him away for a nova prime. so talk about a win win.

 

It seems that the matrix of leadership is the same from the Hot Soldiers Optimus Prime.

 

yes it's the same, even with the MFT Ultra Magnus 2.0. without going into details, Hot Soldiers seems to be in partnership with MFT. HS Prime scales excellently well with MFT figures.

 

Still hoping for a different coloured version.

In season 3's The Ultimate Weapon, Rodimus Prime and Magnus are in disguise to infiltrate the Decepticon base. Rodimus his disguise colours are different shade of blue with grey and white. I would love to see that released


Alternatively, the botcon Sideburn colours are somewhat similar, also resulting in a blue Rodimus with white details. Instead every Hot Rod/Rodimus released is the regular colours and later the black deco.

 

It is nice that they fixed his heels (Prime on the left). Zero issues standing him. Probably going to slice a couple of parts off some little rubber self-adhesive feet for RP.

 

He showed up in my BBTS PoL and now I just gotta wait for my MSG Gigantic Arms Omega Reactor to finalize payment and I'm shipping shit home!

 

And now that he's here I see one of his upper calves are mis-assembled. I'd rather not fiddle-fart with trying to replace him and would prefer simply fixing him myself since everything is actually here. I can easily flip the upper calf piece around backwards but the pinned assembly would need to be reversed back into place and I have no such tool. I need a recommendation for a good pin-puller/pusher tool as all my previous TF-customization centered around tearing stuff off a 'bot to use elsewhere, not to make a bot itself better.

Any help?

 

I've used watch pin pushers in the past with great success. They generally have a way of clamping the figure down, and a screw-twist like motion for better stability (as opposed to trying to hammer a pin pusher through). They aren't too expensive either.

I've been watching this thread and figure for too long now. I finally pulled the trigger and purchased Flame Commander from ShowZstore! As I wait for the shipment I am trying to gather all the possible mods for this guy to help him stand. Here's what I've found on this thread so far:

1) Keep the back heels folded-up.
2) Sand off some of the top corners of the back heels to allow them to flex down.
3) Purchase the Dark Rodimus and swap feet.

Are there any other recommended mods for this guy? I would love to purchase a Hot Rod themed head (if its possible). Also holding out for Toyhax to make a label kit.

 

there's one user here who removed some bits of the upper shoulders to give it more clearance there. can't remember if it's @chuckcjc or someone else

It should be a lightweight box though so they’ll probably use the standard CNE shipping. My Rihio pilots are a similar weight, shipped free via CNE on the 28th and got to the US on the 31. Seems to be a certain weight cutoff with what they use for free shipping now.
