I mean, BW characters are kind of Pretenders without the separate 'shell' if you think about it.

They say the figure right beside BW Megatron is Terrorsaur. I don't see it.

I’m curious if we’ll see more reissues...I’m sure some Titans Returns team packs would interest people.

I'm very certain we will see Powermasters, Headmasters Jr and other late G1 gimmick characters redone soon after a quick detour to BW. There's no way a BW line would last more than a year with Warden at the head. They're doing the anniversary and tying it to the G1 cartoon themes of WFC (which make sense given time travel is involved with BW).

I really liked it, wasn't it in the Dreamwave profile books?, they strongly hinted that Pretenders + Micromasters technologies = Beasts in the future... so simple, yet makes if feel like a logical evolution.

RID2001 with all its hijinks got me into Transformers in the first place. I remember watching Beast Wars as a little kid (4 or 5) and just being bored as hell watching it. RID2001 is definitely the “Who’s Line is it Anyway” of Transformers but it’s still an engaging enough plot and characters to remind you there’s a plot going on.

I’m thankful enough just to have Sky-Byte finally getting some love after almost two decades. Then again “Nemesis Prime” was all started because of good ol’ Scourge

*sniff* and I will never refer to the black Optimus Prime as “Nemesis Prime.” He’s always Scourge to me. To hell with that alien tugboat/bathtub that the G1 version is

It's a retcon but a completely logical one, mind you.

I should add, I might cherry-pick some BW characters. However the BW characters I'd be interested in aren't likely to get a new figure for a while.

Spittor and Tasmania Kid, common down.

there's still 50-60% of the line Rumored to be G1: that's 6-10 deluxes plus Selects repaints, 2-3 Voyagers, at least 1 leader, Commander and Titan were rumored to be G1.... it's not like it's all over.

and who knows what the next line will bring??? (besides an Optimus Prime, a Megatron, and a Starscream). I figure it's a 50/50 toss up between a deep dive in JG1 or UT. Animated and CR/RiD01 are probably just too niche to carry their own line.

    Well here's hoping.

Again, happy for the Beast Wars fans, its just that we were so close to getting these characters, then everything went back to the 84 cast.

For G1 I was a huge fan of headmasters and targetmasters. But I think after that they pushed the "master" thing too far. The transformations got crappier and crappier and the gimmick became the focus. But of couse back then they were actual kids toys. Now theyre just retro adult collectibles disguised as kids toys. (Shhhhh...dont tell anyone !) Lets be honest, Assuming you have the Takara Legends versions of TR Kup and Blurr, was there anything else wrong with them besides them being headmasters ? Would Hasbro even be doing them again so soon in the alleged studio series 86 line if they werent headmasters 3 years ago ? And as far as I was concerned, POTP was great because you could throw the "gimmick" in the parts box if you didnt care about dinobots or fembots combining. The only reason POTP Jazz existed was to give us a cartoon accurate (robot mode) Jazz without wings. It was meant to be a stand alone figure fans had wanted for years. So yeah, Im all for getting rid of gimmicks altogether. The blast effects arent horrible, but you can totally toss them in the parts box or skip the little guys altogether if you only want G1. You dont need them to enjoy Ironworks. You can even disregard Ironworks robot mode if you want to go by G1 where Ironworks is a micromaster and his base is just a base. Forced gimmicks just arent needed as the brand crosses over to the world of adult collectibles more ans more each year. Can you imagine the rage Hasbro would incur from fans if they gave their new 6 inch GIJOE line spring loaded weapons ? Or if Black Series got some sort of gimmick treatment ? Its time to get back to the basics.

I'm sure everyone knew this already (myself included.) But this is definitely BW Megatron. 20200716_205508.jpg

Would it really be that bad if we got more Headmasters and maybe Powermasters who got a Titan Master (with an engine part) that slot inside the chest?

You know what'll be the great thing about when Armada finally gets updates, and why it really should've happened already? There's only 8 characters on each faction. It's not like G1 with hundreds of characters, and choosing between Marvel or Sunbow or toy versions, or even Beast Wars with a few dozen designs, maybe more if you go into toy-only bots, it's just 8 characters on each faction. Hell, they could probably fit the Armada cast in with the BW Season 1 cast in this line, and maybe still have room for some G1 too. They can easily get the whole of Armada over with in two waves and go right back to G1 whenever they want.

But I'm not complaining. I'm already grateful Beast Wars is happening, that's good enough for right now.

Yup. Unless you count Overload. But all he did was appear in the background in robot mode once and suddenly appear to combine with Optimus a few times, with no voice. I'd be fine if they skipped him.
