To celebrate the New Year, Transformers At The Moon is bringing you the first and only full image gallery of a Chrome Silver Collectors Edition Convoy toy. The gallery includes over 140 images of the toy as well as information on it's origin (or lack of origin) and a short review. The toy is completely covered in Chrome Silver paint, as seen on the Lucky Draw Transformers and Takara-Tomy staff exclusives. We are not 100% sure on the origin of this toy, however we feel it is probably a fake ... though it may yet prove to be a Takara staff exclusive item, though we seriously doubt it. So, I know we have various experts here, shed some light on this one please. I know the molding on Convoy / Prime hands are an area for working out the exact mold (I'd guess a simple repaint of the Collectors Edition version, though we don't own it so I can't tell). As I mention above, and in the article, we feel this guys probably a custom.
Very interesting piece! Even if it's a custom, the chroming has been done exceptionally well, none of the details were lost. Easy way to tell is to look at the screws. For this kind of custom job the whole figure must've been disassembled. As for your question: yes, it's the Collection 0 mold. The square-pegged smokestacks, re-issue front wheels and upper leg inside molding sets it apart from the other molds. The accesories (fists, gun, etc.) also comply with the Collection release.

Wow, it's...beautiful. If it's a fake, or custom, it is the nicest one I've ever seen. The chrome looks factory. Still possible someone customized it, but, it's just too perfect.
That is totally awesome. I wish I had a way to reliably chrome stuff like that. I can think of so many guys that would just pop with a full chrome treatment.

Thanks NotoriousBIC for the info. It may be one of the Takara staff items, I hope so, but the feet make me think custom. I'll have a look at the screws the next time I'm moving boxes around. You've all seen the Silver Starscream gallery haven't you?
