Hopefully you went and bought it through an online retailer as a big "f you" to Target.

All of wave 2 Earthrise and wave 10 Studio Series has street dates, guess they're just ignorant to what they sell.

Take it from me, Ignorance is the only way I'd describe anything that comes out of the higher end of Targets management.

I don't have a Target locally. That fact sucks when trying to find the harder to find exclusives *cough*seekers*cough* but on the other hand, I'm glad I don't have to deal with them and street dating issues, especially on older stock.

Found a Double Dealer on the end cap while running a non-TF related errand at a Target in South Carolina.

I have no plans to ever purchase that figure (ICBM launcher and bird?!?), but was curious about whether I could. It rang-up fine on the price scanner, but was prohibited from sale at the register.

So, pretty consistent with the experiences of others.

Yeah, my guess would be the programmer is confusing the set dates with street dates or something. It's really the only explanation I can come up with based on what I know the system works. Your only recourse is to ask management for an override as nicely as possible and try to explain the error in their system. Some will bother to look into and help you out... others are too fearful for their job since selling stuff before a street date can get a company fined big bucks and the manager who caused it will be demoted or terminated depending on the size of the fine. It sucks for us collectors though for sure.

Same thing happened with Siege Optimus Prime, got him all the way to checkout, cashier refused to sell due to streetdate. Of course the figure was on the shelf, so they should have sold it.

Unfortunately no. Was a 5-10 minute long conversation in which management told me they wouldn’t be able to sell it in the store, nor be able to override it. No amount of objective logic on my part got through to them. The employees who suggested going to guest services were helpful, management was not. They pointed out how the figure was on Amazon or Target’s wishlist or up for preorder at Walmart but not Target. This is even after I had the Target.com page for Doubledealer on my phone and showed them the out of stock status.

I place the blame on whomever is programming the dates at Target corporate. Having worked retail before too(and knowing how stuff like this is manually worked around), I’m actually very surprised(or maybe I shouldn’t be given that this happened to me last summer too) that management didn’t really try to help.

Whomever their programmer is might need to take a 2nd glance at their code before they push it out to their system. The fact that this still happens a year later is ridiculous.

A few days ago, he was down to 42.99. I had already pre-ordered him at regular price and didn't want to risk having my order not fulfilled because I bought it at a later time (assuming my order from May 31st would get priority over any newer order once they get their shipments in). My current shipment date is sometime between 7/14 and 8/2, so hopefully I get it sooner than later.

Keeping two for myself and the others have happy homes with other board members at retail price. I never scalp anything.

I'm starting to think that the street dates are legitimate. Notice how Doubldealer has only showed up in Target in the US, so far. I noticed this with Earthrise wave 1 also. Target had them in stock almost a month before Walmart, while presumably they would be receiving them at about the same time. I think that the companies just have a different way for dealing with street dates. Walmart sees that the street date is 9/1, so they hold them until right before the street date, and then ships them to stores. If any make it to the shelf prior to the street date, they go ahead and sell them No impact to the customer, and the individual stores don't have to hold onto stock, for over a month, before being able to sell it.

Target on the other hand, sees the street date is 9/1, but goes ahead and shpips them to the stores, anyway, and says let them deal with it. Target employees don't notice the street date, and go ahead and put them out to sell. The Target street date is then only enforced at the checkout, causing inconvenience and frustration to both employees and customers.

Can’t wait to buy Doubledealer for £35 in the UK around Christmas.
