Jesus Christ. I’d expect this from a piss take parody - not the official canon. Go to gaol. Go directly to gaol. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.
Ugh, so Star Trek is reduced to a parody of its self. Makes me wonder what’s going to happen to the Picard series.
The second I find out that Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are attached to something I normally bail. They've only written one or two decent films and the rest is some of the worst movies of recent history. Here's my prediction: the first season is going to be somewhat interesting and sets up interesting plot threads, and boom, the plot threads are already over. Did we miss an episode? Nope, this status quo breaking scenario is already over and life is back to normal. All shall kneel to the almighty status quo!
It's also a worrying trend that half the cast have those annoying "I am sooo cool!" smirk that so many original characters made for a larger series have. Just look up fanart on DA Too true! That's why Powerless (office comedy about Waynetech employees) was cancelled too after a few episodes. Thank Primus I hardly ever see these thanks to UBlock. Only on my mobile do I notice.
Only way I'd watch that is if David Gerrold wrote an episode.. fyi he wrote the Tribbles episodes for TOS and TAS.
Pretty much how secret hideout has handled star trek. I blame Kurtzman. Half these series were desperately thrown out there when Discovery bombed so he could get something in production to keep his job. He's hoping one might be good, so he's trying all genres.
Adding my posts from the other Trek toon topic here. Can some mod rename the topic title to “Star Trek: Lower Decks”? https://www.herocollector.com/en-us...ector_01&utm_content=200703_Hero_Collector_US I just saw who the writer/creator is. Rick and Morty and Solar Opposites? Ugh... I just really lost my interest. That kind of nihilistic, vitriolic humor is not to my liking. The art style also sadly reminds me of those shows.

No kidding. I'm not really what I consider to be a Star Trek fan, but I do respect the series for its (intended) philosophies and messages, and its integrity of telling them. (well, most of the time) Thing is, Star Trek from the outside looking in is really fucking lame. It isn't, at least I don't think so, but it looks like it. And so the creators keep trying to make it "appeal" to audiences when the appeal of Star Trek isn't its look or effects or whatever, its the quality of its story and messages. Making it a bombastic space action series or animated sitcom is fucking stupid and reeks of desperation. Maybe I'm way off base, like I said I'm not so much a "fan" as a casual appreciator. I've seen some TNG, seen reviews, editorials, I mean it's hard to grow up a 90's kid and not get some exposure to ST, but I feel like Star Trek should be "smarter" than this. It shouldn't have to stoop to gimmicks and mass appeal, it should be true to itself and its original vision, regardless of what the unknowing public thinks of it at a glance. I feel like Star Trek creators are like Batman writers, constantly trying to erase the image of Kirk beating up a guy in a lizard suit the same way writers are constantly trying to erase the image of Adam West demanding shark-repellent Batspray, without any consideration for the context of the franchise. They don't see a series of stories that created multiple generations of wonderful hyper-nerds eager to engage the appropriate warp to the next philosophical deconstruction of a planet of googly-eyed aliens, they just see a goofy sci-fi with name power and dismiss it as nothing special and in need of "modernizing." And considering how sad that makes me, I can only assume what the actual fans think of this kind of shit. Hell, even ignoring Star Trek this just looks lame and derivative. There's already a Rick and Morty rehash show on the way, we don't need another. Again, maybe I have no place in saying this, but I've seen so many of my beloved franchises go right down the shitter, I know a murder when I see one even if I don't know the victim.
Bad, but looks like I might get a chuckle out of it which is more than I could say for Picard or Discovery. But it's sad that the last new Star Trek that I enjoyed watching was
Wow, I have a hard time imagining a more annoying trailer for a Star Trek cartoon. I hate to be too critical because I usually welcome new and unique approaches to old franchises. You certainly can't say a Star Trek comedy show has been done before, I'll give it that. But this just looks tasteless and low-effort. The jokes are awful, the characters act obnoxious, and the animation looks ugly. I realize animation is hard and time-consuming, but this style just looks so bad to me. There are amateur people on YouTube who can do better, and for basically free. I'm not going to act like the '70s Star Trek animated show had gorgeous animation, but at least it felt like it had effort and was appealing to look at. They don't need Disney-level animation, but it would be nice to have something that looks better than a Microsoft Paint drawing. The character designs legitimately remind me of those OC drawings on DeviantArt...and not the good ones. Unless this trailer is really misrepresenting the show, this will almost surely be a hard pass for me. I do look forward to hearing RedLetterMedia's thoughts on it though.
On its own, it doesn’t look like the worst thing I’ve ever seen, but it certainly doesn’t look like a good show either. It’s one of a million generic Rick and Morty clones. However, it looks like a terrible Star Trek show. The jokes aren’t even clever observations about the franchise like the Robot Chicken Star Wars specials. It’s not even like comedic Star Trek is a new idea. Galaxy Quest is 20 years old, and The Orville is one of my favorite shows on TV right now (and it’s easily the best Star Trek show on TV now as well, and it’s not even called Star Trek). They would really be better off calling this something else entirely. At the same time, Star Trek fans are probably craving an animated series in the Star Trek universe in the vein of Star Wars The Clone Wars. There’s a lot they could do with a Star Trek animated series that would otherwise be too expensive in live action. They could visit some truly alien worlds then too.
Wow, that had to be one of the worst previews I have ever seen. I didn't smile or laugh even once. What has happened to comedies.
