I personally refuse to call him Slug. While you can say it is a term for a bullet, I hear Slug, and I think a worm-like creature.

Slag is accurate to him since he has the flamethrower ability which can reduce metal to slag. An actual term for melted metal.

Of course, I treat the 'slut' meaning as a huge joke. So when I talk to friends about him, I call him the slutty triceratops.

He was one of the first 3 introduced in the show but all 5 of them got toys at the same time. In Marvel Comics, he was the first Dinobot to really be featured outside of a panel or two of exposition.

While I think Grimlock will always win the #1 spot, I can see him being some people's favorite if they had him as a toy or they just love triceratops.

I hated micromasters back in the 80s. Had no desire for those to come back. They pretty much all had the same basic transformation scheme, it was so boring.

Well, he's a triceratops, and that's probably the second most popular dinosaur type known to exist. Behind the T-Rex a.k.a. Grimlock

If he's named Slag, it would be here, and it would be easy to slap a "Slug" sticker over the box for the UK. Will they? Probably not.

As for the ROTF twins, we'll see them. Hasbro didn't shy away from them then, the movie still has fans, they've had a multitude of figures over the years, they'll get a SS release. (Or a 3rd party will come through, but I think Hasbro will do it. Takara-Tomy doesn't care about that issue/stuff. They'll make 'em.)

My guess? They're figuring out how to make them. A Deluxe? A Voyager? Because they need to be smaller than Bumblebee in robot mode, but not super tiny, either. They need to be somewhere between him and the bike triplets. I wouldn't be surprised if they just rerelease the "Ice Cream Truck" version with new paint/deco and call it a day. They scale perfectly with SS.

In reality it will be a voyager figure with Daniel (maybe other accessories).

I’d just imagine he’s Slag on the North American package and Slug on the European packaging

I wonder why they stuck Daniel with him, they had zero interaction in the cartoon from what I remember.

Question - Does anyone happen to have an ounce scale ?
If you have it, a figure from Studio Series, and a figure from WFC in the same size class, could you weight them and post some pictures ?

I know WFC leaders are somewhat heavy, but I want to see them in comparison to SS leaders.

I'm wondering how the UK dealt with the character being named Slag back in the 80's?

The question remains, will they? That would be two production runs. It's one thing to run two sets of boxes, it's another (and much cheaper) to produce one box and cover it up with a sticker. Kind of like how they do it for Takara-Tomy. It'll be interesting to see...

Probably just a way to sell the toy(s).

Honestly didn't hear anything about it until the mid-2000's and roughly around the time of Animated. It was really only explained, then, from what I can recall. Perhaps it wasn't a thing back then, like it is now. Either way, I know slang is different by location, but dross on liquid metal shouldn't equate a "slutty woman".

He was just called Slag here (I am from the UK) with no issues

No, slag was definitely a well known insult dating back to the 70s in the UK (ref old detective shows, "shut it, you slag!"). I just think people weren't too worried.

T-rex, triceratops, pteradon... pretty much the three most popular/well-known dinosaurs.

I think they have to run 2 sets of boxes anyway don't they? Not sure what's going on with the boxes worldwide right now, but I thought the current boxes we get in the USA are Western Hemisphere aren't they? (English/Spanish/French/Brazilian Portuguese) - I'd imagine in Europe they have to cover off at the least Dutch, Italian, German...? maybe Russian? @Nevermore probably knows what's up.

I also just edited my post, I typed "English" originally but meant "European".

It's not about "yielding over profits" it's about not selling a toy that's got a derogatory term for a name.

Like, you wouldn't release a Transformer named after the British slang for a cigarette.

Who is this “they” and where was this said? I can understand listings leak in Walmart systems but the whole next year’s toyline? Find that unlikely...
Also could not find anyseparate topic for this in the first 2 pages of the news forum. Who is this source? Some youtuber?
Edit: ok found it. So a guy who has been registered here for 3 years and has less than 300 posts? I would take these rumors with a grain of salt.
