Though a 6inch flag would kick so much ass, i meant a recreation of the Flagg, which I would still replace my coffee table with it.
Today I had to stop in Walmart to grab a few things so I figure I’ll check the toy section for these guys. I almost missed it since the side cap was in the last row back section. But when I walked around to the front to see it the whole thing was empty! Great news that they are selling well. I’m just impatient waiting for my whole first wave I preordered from BBTS awhile back.
You’d have too, it’d be the only way you’d have room for it. What’s the price on a dining room table?

Just got my Snake Eyes after seeing the whole 1st wave in person. Feels good to see Joes on shelves again. If you don’t like what you see online, seeing these in person may not change your mind. I don’t intend to buy Roadblock and Scarlett. Duke and Destro I can wait on. If you are a fan of Hasbro’s 6” figures and have the understanding that these are mass market figures at a $20 pricepoint which has been the norm for 5-10 years, you might like these. If you expect more out of them, save your money for a custom Mezco, Figuarts or Articulated Icons figure. If you like Hasbro’s 6” figures, they seemed to save their best for the brands that they own. Power Rangers Lightning Collection standardized butterfly hinges(which are on some Spider-Man, Wolverine and a few other bucks from 2014-present) and the diaphragm joint. With GI Joe Classified, not only are butterfly hinges standard, but so are drop down hips(seen on Marvel Legends Beast last year) and an additional neck hinge at the base where the neck meets the body/collar. Instead of a diaphragm joint, you get waist swivel + ab crunch on Classified figures. What I expected these Classified figures to do was to pose in ways that the 3.75-4” figures couldn’t. In that aspect, they succeeded. If we were to list joints down on paper it may not seem like the extra joints do much more. However, the subtle movements add up. You can pose Snake Eyes holding his falchion with 2 hands with the blade perpendicular to the ground and pointing forward with arms bent. You’d struggle to even approximate that(at least as well as Classified Snake Eyes can) with a 25th/modern Joe and this is impossible for the old ARAH Joes to pull off. The drop down leg hinges aid a lot with kneeling and crouching poses. You’ll only notice this when trying to pose this though as it’s a lot easier to see for yourself in person than read about it online. You might think just having a hip that rotates 90 degrees forward, double knee joints, thigh swivels and ankle hinges are all you need. It’s just a lot easier to get this figure to pose that way compared to most other Hasbro 6” figures. It can do this without getting the legs splayed out at weird angles, due to the drop down hips. Added benefit is that the hips can rotate forward beyond 90 degrees. Snake Eyes can easily do Van Damme spinning split kicks and axe kicks. There’s different textures across the sculpt which wasn’t apparent to me until I saw it in person. Pleasant surprise with that. Onto the bad aspects. Extra swappable hands would’ve been appreciated. The backpack peg is mounted high so the backpack will look like it’s floating in the air if the ab crunch is used. Since it also plugs into the bandolier, it makes the bandolier look like it’s floating on Snake Eyes’ body. You can push the bandolier aside and still peg the backpack on, but it doesn’t get rid of the fact that it mounts too high. It’s better to just peg the scabbard into Snake Eyes back, I guess the scabbard connection was designed 1st with the backpack added later. If you don’t like the futuristic weapons, seeing them in person won’t change your mind. Save up for guns from other brands. I did like how some can peg into each other so you can store them(that laser taser Snake Eyes comes with can peg onto the pistol on the side). Only had 1 stuck joint initially(boot swivel) but that freed up quick. Joints were neither too tight nor floppy. If you have a Power Rangers Lightning Collection or recent Marvel Legends figure, the plastic feels about the same except for the ankle hinges feeling more durable due to not being as tight. Classified Snake Eyes left me impressed. It’s a mixed bag, largely for the better. The backpack would’ve been cool if more functional than just being able to mount the scabbard to it(like if it opened up and could store grenades, claymores, C4, whatever). Just be aware this is a $20 mass market Hasbro figure so if you’re expecting something import level, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. Hopefully Hasbro includes realistic weaponry as the line moves forward. I do feel that Hasbro saved their overall best articulation for the Classified line. Prior to getting this I had thought that POC Snake Eyes sized up to 6” would fit the bill, thinking that Classified figures only had a few more points of articulation. I was wrong. Sculpt-wise, ARAH and POC Snake Eyes are definitely my preference. However the articulation is vastly improved over the old 3.75” ARAH and 4” modern Joes. If Hasbro gets to ARAH/classic designs in this line(the sooner the better!), I think this line has the potential to last a long time. This has the best articulation standard of any mass market GI Joe line at retail stores.
Got my Destro in today from Toydojo. He's pretty cool. G.I. Joe Destro by The Kup52, on FlickrG.I. Joe Destro by The Kup52, on FlickrG.I. Joe Destro by The Kup52, on Flickr G.I. Joe Destro by The Kup52, on Flickr
Great write-up. I’m interested in reading your thoughts when you finally get Duke and Destro. I considered canceling my order for Scarlett and Roadblock, and sometimes I wish I had, but being the very first 6in Joes ever, I wanted to support the line. But yeah, these are all just placeholders for the eventual 6in ARAH figures. These will get tossed in a box or donated at some point.
Thanks. Duke I’m waiting to see if there’ll be a more subdued repaint with realistic weapons and....I’ve only liked a few incarnations of Duke, I didn’t like ARAH Duke. Destro I’m waiting to see if there’ll be an Iron Grenadier repaint. I don’t want to say it’s guaranteed since I’d be getting my hopes up(just like how I think Arctic Storm Shadow is pretty much the *only* Ninja Force Classified Storm Shadow we will get...though I’d love if Hasbro proved me wrong!) and I haven’t heard anything(though it does seem likely an IG repaint is inevitable). The IG look was always my favorite for Destro. What would’ve sold me further are removable wrist rockets with blast effects attaching to the wrist/forearm as if they’re being fired from it.
Another test of standing on 1 foot unsupported. Also, the neck joint where the collar meets the base of the neck is actually a ball joint, I may have mistakenly referred to it as a hinge earlier. The hinge is at the top of the neck, ball joint at the bottom. Also no other Hasbro Snake Eyes can pose like this(I’ve tried, POC SE might be the closest but it won’t look like this):
A lot. Some joints like the hips and 1 knee have loosened up but nothing out of the ordinary if you’ve handled a Hasbro 6” figure. It also doesn’t help that I’ve been testing the balance on 1 foot just to see if it can support itself. The fact that all Classified figures have this level of articulation standardized across the board is a very impressive aspect. Makes for good consistency. Hoping some of the futuristic ARAH designs make it to this line as they lend themselves well to the current aesthetic. Like Sci Fi, TARGET, Overlord and BATs. I want to see outlandish characters like Voltar. After posing my Snake Eyes figure today, I’m definitely considering multiple Red Ninjas now, maybe at least 2-3, 1 may be as a custom. The weapon storage on it is awesome.
Are the joints on your SE sample otherwise tight, particularly the waist and ab? The Classified level of articulation demands Low Light.
Waist is tight and has a soft detent. Ab crunches easily with a detent but it’s not floppy. Forgot to mention, knife on mine doesn’t fit all the way in the sheath. Low Light would be great!
You’re welcome. While posing Snake Eyes today, it dawned on me.... maybe the upcoming game will use the Classified designs BUT....incorporate ARAH skins later? That way there’s further incentive to make Classified ARAH figures. Hell I’d pay $30 for a deluxe Classified Snake Eyes based on the purple Sunbow V2 design(knight visor for the cartoon is unique and different from the comics) with a stand, Timber, Sunbow laser blast effects and other weapons. Plus, while we got a Sunbow inspired, dark purple Snake Eyes in 1 of the 25th Battle Packs, the visor didn’t resemble the Sunbow visor at all. So to this day we’ve yet to get a straight up Sunbow Snake Eyes homage.
