Yeah, I loosened my screws and they still both sheared right off on my first attempt at transforming him.

 

When I first got this figure in February, I opened up both shoulders, used a heatgun to relieve the stress on the shoulder panel posts, then re-assembled.

I *tried* finding some way to transform the lower arms to allow the side panels to swing down for transformation rather than up. There's no easy way, but it's sort of possible if you can get the elbows out of the way.

But the finagling still put stress on the joint. And I finally sheared a shoulder last night.

In the process of repairing the post and resculpting the shoulders to allow an upward rotation.

I'm assuming they didn't already do this from the initial design because it results in a slight gap at the top of the alt mode - but I'd much prefer the gap over a broken figure.

EDIT: There's a limit to how much you can loosen the screw without interfering with the ratchet joint - and that limit isn't enough for a stress-free rotation around the shoulder. This isn't a QC issue - it's a fundamental engineering problem that won't be solved without a complete replacement of that shoulder piece.

I can't get a good view of the inner shoulder sculpt on the Nemesis figure, but first impression of the arm-lifted shot has me thinking it's still the same flawed mold.

 

Yeah, the flaps on my shoulders sheared off the first day I got the figure too. I didn't even bother to contact customer service as I imagined every figure would have the problem.

 

Fixed the sheared shoulder:


First bit was resculpting the one panel to allow upward rotation:


Basic process was:
1) Fill back with epoxy (being sure not to add so much as to interfere with ratchet)
2) Mark circle on existing raised rectangle
3) Carve down area until only raised circle remains
4) File down raised portion of circle (entire swinging panel actually rests on the small circle that's only a mm wider than the post - anything else is stressing the joint
5) (to-do) Body work and a fresh coat of gloss red paint

My stock screw was long enough to still bite into the rear panel when everything was re-assembled, so I used it for the fix. Some have reported using a longer screw. Either way, you need a screw capable of reaching through the post and biting into the front panel again. Fix is straightforward:

1) Apply plastic solvent (I used acetone, but MEK or some other plastic cement should work) to both surfaces of the break.
2) Use the screw to firmly press the post back into the panel
3) Using a brush, dropper, or even a cotton swap, apply more solvent - capillary action should pull it into any crack that isn't already bonding

That's it for the post, but to reduce stress further, you'll probably want to file down the hinge (marked in the green rectangle) as that's the bit that's rubbing on the other panel and twisting the joint out of whack.

And below is the unmodified (reader's left) vs repaired (reader's right) shoulder. In person, the dark red of the unpainted shoulder makes the new gap more obvious - but I expect it to blend better once I've sprayed the shoulder with fresh paint.

As much as I want to do this, until we see some confirmation of shoulder fix I can’t see jumping on.

 

Just a small Recreation

 

Took 70 days for my LS-13 to arrive. I forgot about him until one day my wife tells me that there’s a package from ‘Show something’ for you.

 

Well, I dm'd the BMB Facebook page, and all they really said is that there haven't been complaints of shoulder breakage, which makes me believe that they either haven't changed it or they did but didn't inform the Facebook account.

 

well that means they are lying or they never go my complaint that i made for a replacement part through showz. which i never got.

 

Did you post breakage photos into this thread? I'm dm'ing the Facebook account, and maybe something can come of it, considering it would be their 'first' complaint.

 

They say they haven't received reports of the shoulders breaking, but then say there's a video showing how to transform the shoulder without breaking it? If it isn't an issue, why is there a video showing how not to break it?

 

i sent the pics to showz who sent them to ayoi mech and eversince then show z has been waiting for the parts. that was earlier in the year before all the pandemic started. do you have a link for their facebook?

 

Basically:

Pros: Things that were too tight in the original, is looser now. Some areas feel smoother to tab in.
Cons: Things that were too tight in the original, is looser now and don't stay tabbed in eg: the torso/waist connection (12:00).

Like the original LS-13, the panels that become the cab's sides which were difficult to transform become easier to move after a few transformations. Around 4:20 (heh) he gives a tip about the top flap, it would be easier to move it out by squeezing the those side panels.

The leg part that has the foot still has that flimsy, thin plastic section that wobbles easily.

 

Anything about the cab sides/shoulder portions that snap off?

 

At the very end of the video I believe he said he said the shoulders felt better... only for that waist connection to be loose. It may vary from copy to copy.
