Update the big final one!: Files now available for free, go nuts at the following link: Transformers MTMTE IDW Pipes by Sam_Makes_Toys Update #3: files will be available this weekend, in the meantime I made a transformation demo video https://youtu.be/a1wOOnzoF-Q Update #2: Got a revision done on the torso and shoulders so he can now transform and everything. Also go some mates for him to stand around with. Really happy with how he is coming along, he needs more locking tabs but otherwise he is getting close to complete. Check the comments for a few more pics Update #1: I've just completed an initial test print and I'm really loving how he looks in hand. Sadly I can't transform him due to an oversight in the arms and a loose backpack, but both are issues easily ironed out in a V2 print I hope to do next week when I get back from holiday. I'm thinking he may be a little short, check the comments for a couple of scale comparison pics Original post: its been a wild one for me recently. I graduated from university, and had some immense personal shakeups alongside the whole "situation" we are living through so I've not exactly been as creative or completed as many projects as I had hoped. As such, I set myself this design challenge to get back on the horse, make a MTMTE/Lost Light pipes in 48 hours. I almost succeeded. I had the whole thing blocked out and largely visually complete in that time, but it took another few hours to get the shoulder engineering to work. That said, he is now engineering complete and ready to print. He is scaled to be the same height as the Maketoys Manga Mechs so he will scale properly with the MMC IDW figures (yes, specifically including overlord). I'm catching up on a print backlog with week, but I should have a first printed version mid next week. Hopefully he will need minimal engineering revision. I'm really happy with how he has come out in the end, plus I am pretty proud of how the torso and arms transform. I might try to do a few more bits like this in the future. Let me know what you think, I may still make a few tweaks before printing but he is largely final Bot Mode Vehicle Mode
? The Maketoys Swerve and Tailgate are CHUG-scale and the MMC figs are MP-scale, so I don't think that'll work actually. Scaling with the Manga Mechs and Trivia the Cruciverbalist is probably the way to go anyways though.
I hope to throw the files up once I've test printed it, if it all goes smoothly they should be available next week Not trying to start a scale war, but I always thought MMC IDW guys were chug, they're largely around voyager size, and while the manga mech guys are slightly too small, they still just about work and I want him to fit in with his other minibots brothers
The MMC bots scale with T30 Brainstorm and CW Ultra Magnus I think, but those two are massively oversized for every other CHUG figure. Rodimus, Chromedome, et al. would be deluxe class normally (or a little under twice as tall as a minibot). and I'm not complaining, I like this scale, but it is gonna be one or the other.
Wonderful work. I am always in awe of what some people can do with this 3d stuff. Cant wait to see hi printed.
Yes I have First print complete, coming along really well and the light blue I have suits him perfectly, though I may need to mess with the scaling a little. Hopefully I'll get my hands on tailgate and swerve soon as I think they'll look good together
He took 16 hours to print in total, as for vehicle mode sadly he can't transform as I misjudged the cavity in the arms so I'm looking at revising the engineering right now with the hopes of having a transforming version next time
Funny you should ask Basically done, needs a second version to add some locking tabs and tweak tolerances but he has come along nicely, and I think overall the vehicle mode is quite neat
