Definitely recommend gutting through the first season. IT. WAS. AWFUL. The last two seasons are much better. I also think that the show ended abruptly (like a lot of transformers continuities).

FAVORITE EPISODE: Season 2-16 "Ghost Town"

Wait it's already over?? 3 seasons of 10min episodes is really like a season and a half only. But you're right they seem to have capped all their transformers series at 3 seasons going all the way back... I think Animated deserved another season more than any of them. At least Prime got to build up to a conclusion and also had a movie or whatever.

Just want to say, nice article and how much I love the series. Been watching the show off of Youtube, so the show's not over yet, but honestly it's become my favorite cartoon incarnation since G1. I'm loving this show so much! I'll try to state some of those reasons:

    1. A focus on my favorite characters. I was hooked on the show after episdoe 5 of season 1, the one where Hot Rod and Blurr are introduced. Not only did I love the character designs of the show, but this episode really showed me the show's storytelling potential. I know not everybody will feel this way, but the show has put the focus on my personal favorite characters of the entire franchise - Hot Rod, Bumblebee, and Windblade. I'm especially impressed by what they did with Hot Rod, making him such a central character and finding a way to make him a leader in a way that made sense without taking anything away from Optimus.

    2. Deep lore. I am constantly impressed by all the Easter eggs in this series, one of the things I loved about TFA too, but in the decade since TFA, Cyberverse has even more to play with. Seeing characters like Rack n' Ruin, Maccadam and the new lore around his Old Oil House, finding the perfect way to blend the savage G1 Grimlock with the more erudite Furman Grimlock while still making him his own thing, reinventing Cheetor's role and finding a good use for a BW charater, the reinvention of the Quintessons which is not only so exiting to see them back but utilizes one of my favorite tropes of good guys and bad guys having to team up to fight an even bigger bad.

    3. The way it uses female characters - by simply having more than a token number (one good girl, one bad girl) exist as everything from major to background characters and acting like its no big deal! As a female fan I cannot tell you how refreshing this is that we have gotten to this point in a "boys" franchise. Windblade, Arcee, Slipstream, Shadow Striker, Clobber, Chromia, (all unique and all great), along with various random Seekers, certain Qunitesson faces, etc. Transformers has given us lots of great female characters over the years, but to see this level of progression done in such a natural and unobtrusive way, especially when other big franchises are still trying to figure this out, makes me very happy for our fandom.

That's fair. It looked kind of like a filler series to me. Something in the vein of rescue bots to get the kids hooked.

Okay season 1 I think is kinda garbage and I can’t get myself to like Grimlock, but the second season was great and what has been posted so far for season 3 has been amazing.  Perhaps the best thing to come from Transformers since Prime.

Sorry, the animation style and first 10 episodes really failed to catch me. I just can\'t give a show a chance when it\'s painful to watch. I\'m glad some of you enjoyed it though. Some of the figures were kinda fun though.

Not quite. MOST Transformers series have been capped at three seasons... however that's not just Transformers that does that, almost EVERY series works that way... at least in the U.S. TV series produced in different countries seem to have very different standards. The number of episodes per series is also different which usually results in British television shows having much shorter seasons than the U.S. Even Doctor Who which is relatively long for a British television series is still much shorter than an American series. I don't think there has ever been a season of Doctor Who that has been 20 episodes long which is the average for American television.

Anyway... G1 was technically cancelled in it's 4th season. They only produced "The Rebirth" mutiparter for that season but that was still intended to be the start of season 4.

Beast Machines only had 2 seasons before being cancelled.

RID2001 kind of only had one season... Though being that it's a Japanese dub and they seem to never split their shows into seasons anyway I guess that doesn't really count.

The Unicron Trilogy is similar again being Japanese dubs in that they aren't split into multiple seasons, but each of these shows are longer than RID2001 was by about 12 to 13 episodes depending on which series we're looking at.

That said I do believe all of these shows were actually split up and aired in three seasons for the American dubs.

Rescue Bots is currently the longest running Transformers series of all time actually going on for four seasons. I kind of want to call it six seasons because Rescue Bots Academy is kind of the same show but it's marketed as being it's own series that is a sequel to the original but not technically the same series. Even without counting Academy which is still an ongoing series Rescue Bots is still the longest running Transformers series ever.

RID2015 is kind of an oddity... Officially there are only 3 seasons. However there are also 11 shorts and 6 full episodes that don't belong to any of those seasons... Season 2 was also shorter than the other seasons anyway so it kinda of balances out so yeah we'll just call that 3 seasons.

It has some great ideas, like lack of humans, views of cybertron before the war, and I like the varied cast, but the short run times, mediocre script and rushed production drags it down too much. I watched season 1 and a little of season 2 and lost whatever interest I had. At the end of the day, I think it'll be remembered as just an Okay show.

Some of the toys, while iffy in quality are neat and I'm still trying to grab hold of a few more. Hope the Quint pack is still at Target? Still need to nab Ramjet. Looking forward to Wild Wheel and Arcee's releases.

I've kneejerked away from Cyberverse due to it being about Bee and Windblade, as well as looking childish (and the toys sucked). Now I am starting to think I may have become a bit too old and crusty and became that kind of 'old fan' who said they would never watch Animated purely due to its artstyle and different nature. This is not a good revelation to have, to be honest. How did I end up like that?

Well from what I've read in this thread, it WAS a childish show about bee and windblade with sucky toys... but only for the first season, which is why I'm pledging (dunno to who) to give it a full watch.

Tarn's design is used as a super soldier made by Megatron's eviler's counterpart from another universe.
It appears in the 2-part finale.

In part due to age, and maybe a bit of nostalgia.. but don't overly be hard on yourself for Bumblebee fatigue. He has been used to death in the last 11 years.. and all variations of the same no voice/on the way to no voice brave scout character. Hasbro needs to start cycling in some new leads, even some old faces in lead roles. Time to explore some other characters.

The first runs of Cyberverse were not great, some lacking even basic articulation and falling back on the utterly intrusive gimmicks, but they have got back to a nice balance with the last iteration, decent articulation, decent decos, still mostly kid friendly transformations, and much more streamlined gimmicks.

Don’t worry about it. I was 10! when animated was airing. Never bothered with it. Couldn’t stand how annoying the characters were. wasn’t liking the childish (ironic) cell shading. It never hooked me as a kid u like how the ‘older’ generation was hooked on it. I haven’t bothered with any cartoon transformers since prime.

Animated was a really good show but, in hindsight, I think few would think that from the initial episodes. Cyberverse was likely a similar case its just Animated at least had me hooked because it was the first Western-made TF tv show since Beast Machines. Thing is, TFA had its own style and unique flair while Cyberverse was 'more Bumblebee'.

S1 is clearly the Bee and Windblade show, but by season 2 the other characters begin to have some focus like Cheetor, Hot Rod, Soundwave, etc. rather than spending most of the story on just Bumblebee and Windblade, heck S3 may be called Bumblebee: Cyberverse Adventures, but he's no longer the main focus of the show by that point (though granted, i've only seen up to what they've uploaded into youtube, so i dont know how much focus Bee gets on the later eps, but from what is on youtube from S3, he's not been the central focus, if anything Hot Rod, Soundwave, Dead End and Clobber had more screentime)
