I’m sure it would be a redeco or reissue of the WFC:ER figure. But who knows. We’ll wait and see what G1 movie SS figures look like.

But you can easily see with the video that the engineering is overall near identical (at least darn close in the basics of it), the parts are just different at "skin level" for most of it.

The tab that goes in the hood/back of robot now just folds into the hood and not into the robot's back instead, and the legs lower part (feet) are a bit different with the part that folds out with the leg part to make it larger up to the knee instead of just being the "feet", but that created the huge empty feet (that at least they did than panel so kudos for that, but from the back, it's kinda bad looking..really empty.

There's only so many ways/approaches that can be taken and despite the hate it gets from some, the Siege Datsun is a well engineered figure, so sharing this engineering can't really be avoided for technically the "same" cars.

True points, but shared engineering usually has a less negative connotation than when somebody calls something a "slight remold", besides we've discussed similar topics at length and you know that I prefer for things to be presented factually. The facts are that Smokescreen isn't a remold at all, despite sharing some or most of the engineering

 

Agreed, but also why someone would simplify it and just state that to them, it looks like a remold... the engineering is so similar that they do look the same at a quick glance.

 

Smokescreen looks great. Love the colors and the silhouette. They finally gave him the right colors over siege and they improved the proportions too. The legs in general look so much better than the siege counterpart. Only gripe are those ghastly wheels. Looks so cheap.

 

I am passing on the updated Datsun brothers and sticking with the SIEGE versions, but if they update the mold enought to give us a more classic Jazz, I am all in...Even if they don't flip the legs for Jazz, I think I could live with it...

 

Smokescreen looks good. I'm still in. I'll still buy the other ER carbots, which I suspect will be a store exclusive somewhere.

 

If they use it to make Jazz I’ll definitely bite, POTP Jazz is “fine” for now.

 

They need to reshell the poor guy...hes his own dude!

 

sighhh ig i have to say it again. Why reuse this datsun mold for Jazz?? Wouldn't a new mold be better for Jazz. He's a prominent character to warrant a brand new mold. Can't believe people are asking for unnecessary reuses of the same mold. *shudders in combiner wars*

 

I agree, but regardless he’s overdue an update. Tracks is the worst offender however we haven’t had a CHUG version since RTS in 2010 or 2011 I believe it was?

I think the people at Takara and Hasbro are smart enough that they could re-engineer the back half of the ER datsuns to make a good Jazz. Come on, the turned a lion into a jet and a car into a squid.
