Hands moulded in a relaxed position with no other hand options.

    Hmmmm... Dealbreakers for me are

    7. poor/sloppy paint or stickers. (or total lack of paint/stickers)

    6. very poor poseability/brick syndrome. I can accept some limitation to poseability due to the realities of 'needs to transform', and for me things like ankle tilt or ab crunch are icing. but I want a head on a ball joint (or at least a swivel and hinge) good waist rotation, shoulders, hips, upper arm/thigh rotation, knees and elbows; and I prefer some type of motion for the wrists and ankles.
bad joints are tied into that too. joints that are too loose to let a figure stand/hold a pose (like how some can't really hold their legs up or some figures arms flop) or joints that are too stiff or ratchets that have too few clicks, things like that

    5. bad/poor sculpting. Mostly for the face and general aesthetic. 'alt mode is a pile of parts that was obviously an after thought at best but we called it a CYBERTRONIAN alt to get away with it' ties into this *stares at some official movie toys, esp Ravage and Laserbeak* ...robot mode being a pile of parts that was an obvious afterthought to the alt mode is in here too... *stares at some of the car robots*

    4. poor transformation/transformation that risks breaking the toy TO transform (or doesn't lock into one mode (or both) properly.

    3. poor quality of plastic. Too brittle, too thin, stuff like that. If it feels like it's gonna fall apart or break I pass (that's why there are a lot of KOs I won't buy)

    2. Partsforming outside of 'armor suit' situations like Magnus' trailer or the like. I won't buy a toy that partsforms, official or third party. Something can come off as an OPTION but I don't want to have to take parts off in order to transform my transformer. That's why I've passed on the recent cliffjumper and many versions of Blurr.
Shellformers fit into this too, although if they manage to collapse the shell in tightly or make it PART of the robot mode I usually don't mind (examples of 'technically shellformer but I still love it would be TFP RiD Vehicons and how Zeta is handling their Unicron or how Rouge has the car shell fold into the pauldrons or how their Motormaster works). If you can make the shell a very compact backpack or have it tuck INTO he robot and out of sight overall like say MPM3 Bee I'll accept it. It's when the shell is just hanging off the outside like some BW toys or the like that it is a dealbreaker for me

    1. Doesn't transform/isn't a transformer. If I want a poseable figure I'll get a gundam or figma. If I buy a transformer character, it has to transform.

    1. Poorly made core figures for combiners. Before you take it to production make sure the core can actually handle the weight and poses of the limbs without slouching or toppling over or doing the splits or droopy arms. At this stage of technology, there are no excuses for poorly made core figures.

    2. Loose shoulders and feet that sag or topple over

I always hate when a figure is covered in barbed wire, it makes it nearly impossible to transform without cutting my fingers

Lack of ratchets and toon accurate alt modes for earth vehicles. It's more like a personal preference rather than a OCD related problem because I have many figures that made up for those limitations with great engineering or looking quite cool.

    Stickers.
Giant backpacks that are like 1/2 the alt mode just left there.
Galvatron's alt mode (it's stupid, I hate it.)

A bad face sculpt. Kills a figure instantly for me.

    Sacrificing aesthetics for unnecessary articulation.

I would rather my figure looked good than to be able to sit cross legged or be able to touch the small of the back with his fingers.

I don't really have much in the way of deal-breakers.
I want to check all the boxes really: design, engineering, aesthetics, articulation, production, paint, it's all gotta be there for a sale. But if it lacks one little thing, it won't stop me, unless that one little thing is a big big flaw.

Like a lot of people have said, a headsculpt this just sucks will really kill any enthusiasm I have for a figure. I am looking at you, X-Transbots Savant. As much as I was psyched for a Masterpiece Skids carbot, that headsculpt tanked the whole project. I like the mote toy-based head they made for their repaints, but it was not included with the release of the regular blue version, and it should have been!! It is a HUGE pet peeve to not include both heads - in ANY Masterpiece toy, but I can get over it if the head it does come with is really good.

And as much as I really wanted to get Fans Toys Hoodlum, its crappy articulation design totally ruined it for me. So that's one little thing that is a big big flaw, enough to not want it. Certainly not when I already have the Takara Hot Rod and its articulation is outstanding. So what am I gonna do?? Loose all that great design and engineering just to get a figure that looks a little better but is best left sitting on the shelf and not being messed with? Nope. That's not where my priorities are.

Unsightly gaps in arms and legs. This is is mostly why I haven't supported any of the major Hasbro TF lines since Alternators/Binaltech.

The last figure I bought from Hasbro was Generations Leader Class Skyfire, and that was only because I found a talented seller here that sold fillers for the arms and legs.

    Plate behind head
    No wrist swivels
Hollow forearms (for MP style figures, Hasbro mainline is OK)
    Incorrect headsculpt
    Blatant disregard for colour placement

Overly complicated transformations, when they do not have to be.
    Big backpacks for no reason.
