Yeah honestly, I don’t know what’s up with Hasbro and the series 5 singles. They’ve gotten out the 5 and 8 packs, so why can’t they get out the others. My area in Elliott City, MD has lucked out as I’ve gotten all the 5 and 8 packs I need, but still no sight of those singles.

 

Heh, great idea, I wanted to do that too eventually. Here is hoping they repaint Pink Key Pop someday - he is the only member of the Music Mob not to be repainted yet.

Funny, situation is reversed here in Europe. I have seen tons of Series 1-2-3 singles, but other than S2 5-packs in a few places, I found nothing more in Hungary or Austria so far.

I remember as a kid, some idiot at school hid fireworks in his pockets before new years' eve - same pockets he kept the matches in.
...They had to use the fire extinguisher but could not save his pants.

I do wonder whether there's some storehouse somewhere where these just got lost and nobody realizes it yet...

or if they're retooling the case to look like those revision ones with four x 6packs inside?

it's just weird that it's only been released in such small quantities and not even up for preorders anywhere else...

I wonder if some retailers even know there's a wave 5 given how they mix the yellow bubbled 5- & 8-packs under the wave 4 listings...

 

Pretty sure this, given that Hasbro is re-releases Series 3 and 4 singles in this manner.

Meanwhile, the Series 5 singles I ordered from England are less than one state away now, I should be getting mine pretty soon... 

 

My Amazon order of S5 5s and 8s arrived today... not as bad as the first order with Triples, but I'm still missing 2 of the needed 5 packs (no Cardios are orderable) and an 8 pack. Reorder roulette attempt number two.

Series 5 complete! Got in the remainder of the ones I needed from the singles-pack case from a UK seller today. (Man, Gold Digger has such an "Internet Troll" face, I love it.) The Breaker of Fortunes also has a peg hole on the bottom of each foot to attach his surfboard to so it stays in place (though because the legs collapse in, you have to hold the feet out while you attach it or they'll just fold back in while you're applying the pressure).

So now that I finally have them all, I can give my usual Top 5, Bottom 5, and "Most Improved" for the Series:

Top 5:
1. Goldiebites-- You can take this mold and make it pink, glow-in-the-dark, clear, I don't care. This is still the most ingenious Botbot mold I've seen and I love it to bits. I will buy every redeco of it ever.
2. Dr. Fraud-- Again, a shoo-in simply because I love this mold so darn much. Although the flask mode looks awesome with the bubbles, overall I don't think it's QUITE as good as Dr. Flaskenstein, due to the paint apps not highlighting the obvious tie in robot mode and the lack of a mouth, but he's still tons o' fun.
3. Shifty Gifty-- Pretty solid alt mode (slightly obvious hands, but that's it) with just a hint of the sinister-ness that lies within. Very characterful robot mode with TWO accessories and just a really unique look.
4. Tidy Trunksky-- Very good alt mode, BIG for a Botbot, great robot mode, and has a very devious/mischievous expression. Plus the transformation is very compartmentalized, so you can have just the head out, or the arms, etc for some fun pics.
5. Party Goldster-- I hope this guy gets a "regular-colored" redeco later down the line. He has a nice "Animated Optimus-esque" heroic look to him in robot mode with the broad chest and skinny waist, and looks pretty like a no-nonsense super hero. Party horn (hat?) mode is also pretty good, though his arm flaps don't QUITE line up. I also kinda wish his feet pointed forward, but he's a bit back-heavy, so I can see why they didn't, otherwise there's no way he'd be able to stand up by himself:


Bottom 5:
1. Professor Scope-- I like the "Man in the Moon" callback and the star paint apps, but this mold just doesn't transform enough for me. Still just feels lazy.
2. Sandy Shades-- I appreciate Hasbro trying to even do a sunglasses Botbot, but the robot mode on this one is just pretty bad. He can't really stand up with his curved legs, he doesn't really have a face, and his arms are pretty so-so too.
3. Tranquillabeast-- Already one of the weakest Botbot molds, and now it's released in a dull black/silver color scheme. Boring.
4. Reptilin' Sleepstylin'-- Excellent robot mode, really bad crib mode. Good figure, not a good transformer.
5. Data Dump-- Another one where the two modes are just too similar. Flip out little lower arms and the legs piece and that's basically it. I do like his mouse accessory, but he needed more of a transformation. (Also, why isn't he a Retro Replay?)

Most Improved: Shudder (over S.A. Cheez, Clixx, Botarazzi, Papa Click)-- Now THIS is how you redeco a mold that's already been redecoed multiple times. Great color scheme (regardless of whether it's an homage to Reflector or not), and of course that lovely giant eye right in the middle of the robot mode. Such a characterful redeco, I can barely remember that there were versions of this mold before this one now.

 

jealous...still need 13 to complete my set...it's been months since wave 5 hit and presumably wave 6 will come before the end of the year...don't like falling behind when a new wave hits...

 

Well I wouldn't be too jealous. I'm still behind on my collection from Series 1-5. Just maybe through dumb, sheer or both of these luck, I might find at least a single case of blind bags of Series 1-5 and maybe a few packs approximately some 5 or 8 packs with those desired BotBots that I needed from those series I mentioned earlier. Overall, I'm still grateful for my current collection of BotBots.

 

It’s rare for a Transformers wave to be readily available in the U.K. and not the US! As an 80s kid in Britain I was deprived of G1 Swoop, Blaster, Fort Max, half of the Pretenders... and even as an adult, getting a hold of some toys has meant shelling out hundreds of pounds in shipping and import tax... so it’s interesting to see the roles reversed for a change!

That said, I sincerely hope the missing Botbots show up stateside soon! I know from painful experience how much it sucks scrabbling around trying to get a hold of hard-to-get figures, and I don’t wish that anxiety on any of you good folks on this thread!

 

Oh hey! That Lost Bots picture book is out today, anyone get it?

 

No, but I looked at the book on the Barnes and Nobles website.

 

Just arrived from Amazon. Fun little story. Is this the first real BB fiction there has been? It shouldn't be. It has nice illustrations that show how fun these guys are and emphasized their personalities. I think at least half were produced just for the book.

Edit: also further confirmation that Dimlit belongs with the Shed Heads, not the Jock Squad. That never made sense. Terror Tale Torch isn't in here, but he also should be with the Seasons Greeters, IMO.

 

Mine is arriving today, it looks obscenely cute.
