i wish there was an easy to way to remove that yellow shovel part, id love to swap parts with ironworks personally. Make iron works look a more g1 Id think. Looks like its not possible though with that pin.

I have not tried it myself nor will I test it out, but there appears to be 2 screws holding the body together (you can see them inside the ports). You would then remove the shovel and its hinges. The gray on Greasepit does not match the gray on Ironworks, though.

That would be easier than potentially damaging the figure by using a soldering iron on the flathead pin.

oh thanks for that info, thats a bit of hope and would indeed be more easy. Something I was hoping for, thank you, Looks like i might order two of grease pit and Iron works then, hope I can do it. My boy mentioned this to me last week when the images came out and so if i can I think he will be happy if I do it when he is at school and surprise him when he comes home.

So I haven't been following the Earthrise story, but Greasepit was a Micromaster, right? And the base turns into a full-sized robot?

that's been the story for Ironworks as well. But if you got the Target exclusive 10 pack it contains micromasters that were originally packaged with playsets.

So, is this Greasepit robot supposed to be sentient and a separate entity? Or is it a part of Micromaster Greasepit?

there isn't a story to follow yet, but Earthrise is revisiting the G1 Micromaster bases, but making them actual robots themselves and giving them the names that belonged to their Micromaster commanders back in the day. a few of those characters were released in the Target-exclusive 10 pack last year with new names.

The bases have been retconned with the names from the old micromasters and the micromasters have been retconned with new names (micromaster ironworks is now irontread, micromaster airwave was released as his Japanese/autobot version overair). The bases are supposed to be sentient transformers of their own now

In my head, I’m just figuring the bases are an extension of the Micromaster ala Prime/Roller/Auto-Launcher or how Pretenders can be controlled remotely.

Ah, ok. I gotta say, I would have preferred if the bases were giant exosuit type bots for the Micromasters. I never really took Micromasters seriously as combatants because I never felt they could contend with a regular-sized Transformer. Would have been cool if the bases allowed them to fight in a bigger body.

I’m pairing them with their micromaster partners as targetmasters (for those with decent weapon modes)

I haven't investigated this as truth yet, but someone, I think in the Greasepit review thread said they noticed that the Modulators (what they call these guys) have the helmet of one MM partner and the face of the other from the originals.

Damned if they do or don’t do what? I sincerely don’t get your point but I gather that you are displeased that some of us are displeased with the way this is going down.

You’re in Utah apparently. Do you know them?

Greasepit and Exhaust were not being sold as preorders. In fact they specified that they would ship 7/3...which sounded perfectly reasonable and that it likely coincided with a Hasbro Pulse FFF. In reality, they billed on 7/3 but made no motions nor communication about shipping.

I got the exact same response...which means that they didn’t even read my email.

Best case scenario: they’re in over their heads.

Yep. Ironworks/Greasepit have the former's head and the latter's face, same with Airwave/Hot House.

For me, the scale of the micromasters have always been dodgy when compared to the other characters. I've been pairing them with legends and legion scale versions of the main cast because I think it works better.

So in my head, Ironworks and Greasepit are drones, albeit very big ones.
