I love it when the stock photos come out and they are obviously less retouched and digitally enhanced and the figure STILL LOOKS GREAT!

LOL Yeah, I love the convention slides with the digital enhancements. Never look much like the actual product. It's like comparing the celebrities on the movie screen with their youtube quarantine videos.

I didn't think it was possible, but Hasbro has gotten even worse with their handling of the color yellow.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the pale yellow plastic, and of course the mismatched yellows, but I still can't wait to get this figure. I also hope they make Cordon and Spin Out from this mold.

Really happy with how close these two are in size. It should make the possibility of bashing things together work. Plus the more pics I see of the cyberverse one the more I see Moonracer potential. Need about six new parts and a paint job (head, shoulders, chest, and knees). That waist section is a ringer. 6bd06b84863bc7decae741dad1e1080f.jpg

Even if they are equatable in price, I would argue that you got FAR more for your money with G1 Sunstreaker, considering that gigantic chunks of ER Sunstreaker's legs and arms are entirely missing. I think a better question to ask is how much would G1 Sunstreaker cost if he was released now? $40? How much would a Unicron Trilogy deluxe cost now? $60+?
I was extremely happy with what my $20 got me with Siege deluxes, but Earthrise deluxes (except Cliffjumper) have just not been up to par with Siege because of all the hollow parts and breaks in the sculpt. Maybe Siege set a high bar, but I'm used to getting figures that have minimal gaps in their sculpt--it's a requirement to be in my collection. This makes it all the more sad, because I really need a Sunstreaker and was looking forward to this guy and he just looks horrendous. I consider ER Sunstreaker to be the worst WFC figure so far.

That chest still looks bad reminds me of MP Hotrod\'s chest...Unpopular opinion it would have looked better as a Runabout/Runamuck repaint.

A sticker for the chest that makes the colour match the rest of the body. Similar to what they did for the classics version. Ideal? No; I too would have much preferred that nice rich yellow to be the figure's entire colour. But, things being as they are, I'd rather have a figure with a more uniform colour even if it is a bit drab, and the afore-mentioned sticker idea would be easiest to do.

I think the better question is how much would be paying if Hasbro did not cut corners to keep the cost of Transformers down?

To make with diecast and sell at retail, probably $39, judging from the Walmart exclusives out now. As a former owner of G1 Sunstreaker, you don't really get much for the money. The legs don't move, the arms have minimal articulation, no head articulation, fists and weapons that are easily lost and don't store on the body well, and flaky chrome. Not a bargain if you aren't looking at it with rosy nostalgic glasses. My kids, not bogged down with nostalgia, wanted nothing to do with my original or encore G1 reissues. They were much happier with their modern toys.

As far as Unicron Trilogy stuff, I have no idea. I never messed with it.
Truth to this. A "quality" mass released transformer would probably cost $40 for a deluxe size, $60 for a voyager, and $100 for an "old school" leader... but that would be basically a WFC size figures that have closed panels and no gaps... not the added articulation and slavish devotion to achieving G1 cartoon accuracy like Masterpiece attempts.

$20. We JUST saw them do things right with Siege.
You just admitted he's worth more than ER Sunstreaker BTW.

Nice try. A modern reissue would cost more because it would be released in less numbers as it'd be a Walmart reissue. It's actually a totally different animal than comparing two mass marketed figures from different eras.

Siege was awesome but that does not mean they didn't cut corners.

    Looking at my siege deluxes:

Sideswipe: forearm gaps for transformation, unnecessary gaps in thighs

Datsun mold: unnecessary forearm gaps and unnecessary gaps in thighs

Mirage: forearm gaps for transformation, unnecessary gaps in thighs

Ironhide/ratchet: unnecessary gaps in forearms, lower legs, back and feet

Refraktor: gaps in forearms and legs for transformation, unnecessary gaps in thighs

Impactor: huge ole holes in his legs and waist

Skytread: gaps in forearms for transformation, unnecessary gaps in thighs

exactly how is sunstreaker any worse than any of the siege deluxes? They all had gaps for unnecessary or transformation related reasons
