Yeah, collectors hated them so much Hasbro not only brought back combiners for PotP, but carried the combination gimmick in to RiD. Then, once both series were finished, Hasbro and Takara realized combiners had been so unpopular they circled back around and finished Orthia with a pair of collector targeted exclusives and heavily retooled a full team in to the Seacons (and God Neptune.)

 

I think he’s massively disappointing on a level that I almost can’t believe anyone is looking at him and going “man he’s really good” - his proportions in robot mode look like a kid who made a cool Transformer costume out of cardboard boxes, and like you noted, the lack of integration of the supercharger makes the entire back of the car look unfinished/incomplete. I didn’t mind so much the Universe version because it was compact, but this thing is huge, and looks more like a luggage box sitting on the roof.

the “squareness” of the chest just totally kills it for me. If it was a little more rectangular and included the natural taper the alt mode windows have he’d look a lot less rediculous.

Easy, the proportions are already perfect and I don’t think they would use the exact Sunstreaker Mold for Tracks but another remold from his mold. I do hope we get Spin-Out and Cordon from the SunStreaker mold.

 

Man, I am digging this guy! So glad I've got him pre-ordered. Not a big fan of the engine=gun, it will probably just stay attached to his back. I\'ll give him one of my many extra guns to wield until the inevitable Nonnef Productions upgrade comes along.

its a weird transformation. His arms make the top and back and sides of vehicle. Part of his robot back is the rest of top of the car with the rest is his chest and the legs sorta transform like wheeljack but also have to rotate. He really comes off as a complex deluxe. Can’t wait!

Like the looks of him, but I'm just not a fan of the character or color. But if they do Cordon, I'm sold.

Man, he is looking spiffy indeed!! Love how much classic Countach they worked into the design!! Yes, the mismatched paint on his chest is a bit odd, but I'm sure it's nothing that reprolabels can't fix. Funny, I didn't notice his 'goateee' lol! Not bothered by it at all though because the diaclone toy that became Sunstreaker had a 'robo-tee' too. Many if not all the original Tfs did, it's part of classic Tf design history, so I'm good with it. If it bothers me when in hand, a sliver sharpee will take care of the matter nicely.

Any-how, again, I am so pumped for this release! Would I have preferred better and more faithful rear-engine and spoiler design? Of course! Is this still a nice hunk of yellow G1 inspired awesomeness! Hell yes! I have no doubts that some creative soul from the Maker-Movement will devise something cool. Can't wait to get him and pose him with his bro!

Did you ever actually see those toys? Not something to be proud of. The line sort of reminded me of Animated, except instead of just giving up and not doing _any_ toys for season three, they just shoveled out bits and pieces of whatever was lying around to warm shelves until it died.

You mean Hasbro, Sultan of (Cost) Savings, reused a mold? Be still my heart. Although I'm still shocked that they didn't throw a curve like the Brawl or Rook mold because reasons.

More Takara's doing than Hasbro. US collectors were just along for the ride.

 

I have all four. Definitely could be better but I don't dislike the mold.
