I love my MP-13, but would happily take an update!

Am I one of the only people that's kinda burnt out on Masterpieces?

I mean...yes, some of the older MPs have not aged well, but some I feel are still good like Soundwave, Wheeljack and the Datsun bros. This constant rebuying of the same figures we already got has gotten well...boring AND expensive.

And the idea of buying up to SIX of the same figure again especially at Takara's current price ranges is...not a pleasing thought.

I mean, I'm happy for those that want this, but I'm tapping out here on MP stuff for the most part. I was already kind out of the MP collecting given the last MP I bought was Sunstreaker.
I mean maybe if they finally do an MP Jazz, Cliffjumper, or Mirage, I'll jump back in for them, but not constant version 2.0 or 3.0 of characters we already got.

Hahah, I haven’t bought any FT stuff since my experience with Terminus Giganticus, and I’ve pretty much committed to official-only as far as my MP collection goes - hence why I never went near the Maketoys Seekers, even though they looked ‘OK’.

Of course there remains a lot to be seen with this updated SS, but the MP-11 mold has definitely had its day, and I am hopeful that the update will make for a more than satisfactory replacement.

I don’t think you are but I’ve become more hesitant to continue being a 1st time buyer, this despite Starscream being 1 of my favorite Decepticons.

MP-03/11 were my favorite MP’s at some points, I’m hoping this V3 won’t have any of their shortcomings and won’t crack apart like Hound after Galvatron crashed his coronation.

I feel for you too big buddy. I'd rather TT do some characters not yet done in season 1 G1. The BW MPs were all worth it(my wallet is still hurting BW Megs! :lol ) but please focus on the 'bots/'cons not yet done. Who the heck green lit Tracks over Jazz? The seekers are iconic I get that but Tracks over Jazz? Even Cliffjumper for Primus' sake!

P.S. Own only two Seeker MPs. The TRU and MP-11. Never got to order the rest.

So rather than having the unsightly split at the bottom of the canopy:

    *shudder*
I imagine Takara will make Starscream's red pelvis a little bigger, and his torso including the canopy can sit in it with enough room to rotate behind the red crotch. Can't think how else they'll do it, especially if they want to also give him some kind of ab crunch. Gonna be interesting to see how they pull off his waist for sure!

I wonder if they're gonna do the carbots over. They're almost as old as screamer

This is my thinking as well. Only other possibility I can think of is having hip skirt type flaps at the top of the pelvis that flip out enough to allow the canopy to rotate behind...I don't know if that would look very nice though!

Starscream dates back to 2006. Sideswipe 2012. Give it 5 more years? I don't doubt we'll get a Sideswipe v2.
Not sure of the others, though Wheeljack and Ironhide are both prominent enough in the cartoon that they deserve a second go.

Yeah that could work too. Maybe they'll have automatic flaps like you describe that activate when you turn the waist. They were able to engineer MP-44's pelvis flaps the way they did, I'm sure they're smart enough to figure something out.

Though I'd prefer they go off-model than follow Maketoys route. Between that and the forearm gaps there was never a chance for that release, for me personally.

Ah, I thought they were older than that...well, at least the datsun bros. I guess they might wait a bit on those then

They'll continue redoing as long as people keep buying. So many toy lines are now just a constant cycle of redoing the main characters in their classic look. I spent my entire childhood with a single fugly Vader 3.75" figure and now there's probably a hundred or more of him that all look the same to the average person. In the old days the manufacturers at least came up with a new look when they released yet another Optimus Prime, He-Man, Skeletor or Snake-eyes.

Definitely get what you mean. I'm just glad that 3Ps are picking up the slack. Got Downbeat on PO, and i'm gonna wait till ShowZ or BBTS puts up orders for FT's Cliffjumper, should that come around soon. Definitely would still enjoy to see Takara get the message and go for them, though.

While we all know it’s Starscream, how would ya’ll feel if Takara announced “Masterpiece HotLink” in a new seeker design instead of Starscream v3?

Soundwave will definitely get a '+' version at the very least as his robot mode colors are not animation accurate. I don't know that he really requires a new mold though, as his articulation and overall style is much more in line with the current style than someone like Starscream, who is very blocky and very awkwardly articulated from the waist down. I will say MP-3/MP-11 has the best hands of any Masterpiece to date in my opinion. But for Soundwave, pretty sure the reason we haven't seen Blaster yet is because they are doing something there, so maybe it is a new mold. Obviously Blaster is there because we've seen Steeljaw.

As much as I lament re-buying characters because I want other new ones so badly, Starscream's design was the most outdated of the MP's in the current scale. After MP-36 and especially after MP-44 and MP-45 it became clear there is so very much they can improve.

    Upgrades I hope/expect to see:
-Proper bombs for his wings in jet mode
    -Multiple faces
-Waist articulation and red color carries onto the sides of his waist
    -Rounded intakes
    -Hidden wings on legs
    -Stable feet with tilts
-Full Coronation upgrade gear (including larger intakes, larger wings, larger chest, and modified null rays along with the usual shoulder pads, cape, and crown)
    -Plain animation accurate tail wings
    -Animation accurate Deceptibrands
-Blast effects for either jet mode exhaust and/or null rays

That's not even getting into all of the finer points of better articulation. Hopefully he will also have a less frustrating transformation, though frankly it is likely that will go in the other direction.

I also really, really hope this means properly done versions of Thundercracker and Skywarp. I never bough the "TakaraTomy" versions of these because they each had glaring and significant accuracy flaws and seemed more like Hasbro releases. Honestly that was when I started to suspect that a new Seeker mold was imminent, because let's be real, those were extremely half-assed releases, especially for TakaraTomy. More than a better Starscream, I really want good versions of both of those, with all of the proper coloring, and some accessories like Reflector and Tranfixatron/missile firing hand. As far as the Coneheads go, I probably wouldn't mind upgrades, but I'm fine if we don't get them. I can see that being difficult to get to for awhile.

I don't want a Sunstorm, Acid Rain, Bitstream, etc etc etc before Thundercracker and Skywarp. Give them their due finally!

Now that we have a brand new Starscream, the only other updates I want to see are a dedicated Rodimus Prime mold and an in scale Grimlock. I wouldn't have thought either too likely even a year ago but I am guessing they are both imminent at some point.

I just need an updated Windcharger and I’m done now.

I have tons of FT crap... mostly as anti-theft devices... someone breaks into my house and I chuck diecast pointy pieces of plastic at them!
Hound was coronated? I missed that episode. :p
