Destro is just near perfect, in my eyes — ARAH in style, but with just a few bits of added texture to the costume. No garish additional colors. I’m just impressed with Duke more than I expected to be, I guess. He’s practically ARAH, from the waist up, and while his weapons aren’t perfect, they are better than the rest of the Joes. But that’s because I have retail Snake Eyes with his holy-guns that operate on faith instead of firepower, apparently. Maybe I’ll feel better about Snake once I get some better guns for him.
I don’t have Duke yet but I feel like SE is a little long in the torso, with weirdly small feet. The all black definitely covers up a little bit of that wonky mid-section.
Tonight I started going thru some of my 25th anniversary Joes and was just thinking how good some of those later wave figures were. Bazooka, Airborne, Spirit, Cobra Bat, Battle Armor Cobra Commander, and 89 Snakeeyes were a few that really stand out to me. There is a jarring difference between them and the early guys. The weapons and backpacks were really nice, especially Spirit and Bazookas, such great extras went into those packs. Of course when they hit their stride, they cancelled the line for the movie figures. What are your favorite 25th anniversary Joes?
Off the top of my head from the original 25th, not Poc/Renegades/50th/ect, I'd have to go with HOH Commando Snake Eyes, 2nd Joe 5pack Shipwreck, AOCI 7Pack Wetsuit, and Comic Pack Tunnel Rat.
Does this work for you? More pics to come soon, but so far these figures are pretty cool. I’m not used to this level of articulation. I mostly collect Transformers which have made strides in their engineering. I’ve been getting the DC Spinmaster figures which I hope is what the rumored 3.75 retro line will be similar to. Aside from those, I haven’t bought a “human-based” action figure in a long time. But these 6-inch Joes really are next level.
Yeah I haven’t seen Duke in hand yet but that is basically what I am saying about SE, long torso, short legs I think were coming it as from opposite sides. I think the added torso articulation is lengthening the torso or making the legs look a little short?
Yep, definitely a notable difference in feel and quality. Some of the 25th did not age well compared to their later POC and 30th/50th/later Retaliation wave counterparts. For 25th, here’s what I liked: V3 Snake Eyes HOH Viper Ninja Viper Para Viper Iron Grenadier Destro Battle damaged V1 Snake Eyes from the comic pack Arctic Snake Eyes(from the Marvel run that featured Kwinn) Sunbow battle pack Snake Eyes(the semi-translucent blue-orange one) Alley Viper Night Creeper Lamprey Shipwreck from the 5 pack Dusty
Yeah Sarge kind of sucked me in and I preordered the Steel Brigade, Swarm Trooper and Condor too. I figured fuck it they look pretty cool.
I'm in on the Sarge for sure, I had SB preordered and then cancelled. Now I'm thinking about preordering him again.
Oh cool, I must have missed the rocker figures - off to do some hunting! Snake hips snake eyes variant. Chuck a 1:12 hula skirt on him.
His chin is stupidly huge. I love it. I just wish he had the full-on ARAH look. Maybe I could get him and their Kerak figure and swap Sarge’s arms and jacket with him? That might do it.
Should work since I think you can swap-out every aspect of these figures. That SB headsculpt is too good for me to pass up.
