I've read some of the new comics and it feels really boring with that disgustingly slow pace

I still don't read Galaxies by the way
I would like to know what you think of these new comics

You're not alone. I comment on every issue discussion thread whether I like it or dislike it. And every issue so far I've disliked, but I'm obligated to keep reading just because its Transformers. This is my reaction to every issue -

Also, you should read Galaxies. Its not written by Ruckley so its a bit better. Short self-contained stories are what should be happening in the main book, not some aimless drifting without any purpose, intent or direction like we are getting. The pre-war scenes in IDW1 were far more interesting to me. Even The War Within was far more interesting. We should not be still before the war twenty issues into a Transformers comic book. I can't even tell how far away we are from when war will break out in this continuity. It just seems like Ruckley is putting his best effort into delaying the war from happening as long as possible - and thats the only effort he is putting into anything with this book.

I think we should've got a more expanded version of Megatron Origin and the Chaos Theory flashbacks from IDW1, but instead we're getting "next episode of robots standing and talking" with cheap kill-off deaths that feel weightless.

I wanted a series to start pre war and show us the build up from the beginning.

I just didn't want THIS series.

Well, I was hoping it'll get to the war within my lifetime.

If Hasbro wanted to promote their toys they might look into a different license holder. Their toyline is on the Earthrise now, soon to move past it, meanwhile within the next few years we might see the war in the IDW new series.

    TF Galaxies are fun, tho.

It's not the license holder; Hasbro signs off on the stories.

I don't think Hasbro's showing more interest than enforcing the toy designs and giving the approval stamp as long as it follows any toys. The books are lagging behind their toys so much they can't be used for promoting.

The series has some interesting ideas that are very poorly communicated to the audience, and it suffers for this.

Does it have to start at the beginning?

Galaxies has been pretty good so far. I can't really speak for the main series, since I haven't read it.

On that note, I'm getting increasingly impatient for the series to reach Earth, even though I doubt they'll have human characters as good as Verity (one of my favorite humans in the entire franchise).

I kinda expect it to be canceled, if IDW doesn't go belly up first.

The only way I can see it being cancelled would be for IDW to implode first, which isn't completely beyond the realm of impossibility.

I've tried to read the new series like three times and I just nope out around issue 7 or 8 every time. It's so slow. It makes me really sad. When RiD and MTMTE started, it was so refreshing HOW MUCH story we got per issue. The first 3 issues or so were self-contained stories that were chock full of action.

IDW 2012 killed Ratbat in the second issue. IDW 2019 would take 20 issues to kill him.

They're pretty terrible as a whole.

First they move at snails pace. It's not decompression. It's more like the writers are almost bored with what they're writing and its coming through.

Secondly, it's uninteresting. This is a story that's been told before, and told better (not to mention faster). The prior IDW cotinuity did it great. I'd even say The War Within basically did it better (though that happens a bit later). And honestly, can we please be done with variations of "Megatron is Magneto and Optimus Prime is Professor X" storytelling? Both Megatron and Magneto are bloodthirsty monsters who, like many real world blood thirsty monsters, utilize the injustices commited against them as an excuse to commit atrocities. The "principled antagonist" was novel when Chris Claremont first did it with Magneto in the 1970s and 1980s. In 2020 it's cliche. The best X-Men writers of the past 25 years have basically called "bullshit" on Magneto being anything less than a cold blooded murderer and would-be fascist from the start, and Transformers really needs to do the same, rather than portraying him in a sympathetic-to-rational light for the umpteenth time.

Thirdly, it's generally hideous. The prior IDW series weren't always lookers (though they got better). But the current art team is godawful and amateurish. Bethany McGuire-Smith and Anna Malkova's styles are just terribly mismatched with this series and unimpressive overall. But then there is Angel Hernandez's art, which gave the old Transformers Heart of Darkness Series a run for its money as worst-ever "professional" Transformers art. It's just stunningly bad. Considering that it wasn't long ago Transformers had as regular artists Andrew Griffith, Alex Milne and most of all Kei Zama, and were some of the best looking comics on the shelves.

    Seriously Compare:

Zama is off to bigger and better things at Marvel, where hopefully Transformers will be once IDW goes bust. These cheaper successor artists? Back to reddit they go!

well, IDW2 is getting better now but it took too long to get here. that's still unforgivable to me.

I like the approach ruckley has given to comics as it is honestly very different, letting you know all of these characters before they have to fight together or apart. Sure the build has been slow but the -You know what virus- has certainly delayed what Idw and Ruckley wanted to do this year.

Little Sidenote: I feel like people are harshly comparing all of Idw 1.0's 13 years of history to Idw 2.0's almost 2 years.

Actually no, we have 25 issues of the main ongoing and 11 issues of Galaxies, so if we compare the story of IDW2 to the first 36 issues of IDW1, IDW1 still comes out on top. Even the first 36 issues of Marvel US comics and Dreamwave comics comes out on top.

Oh. Is there an ongoing Transformers comic? I haven’t noticed.
