IDW Thunder Clash did use the Matrix, once during Optimus' first sabbatical (Optimus had more than one?) and later one of twelve Matrices the self-insert made to resolve the plot. I'm guessing it's an homage to that.

I wish the Matrix was on a rotating panel or something. It looks awkward in alt mode. Wonder if it's possible to remove the windshield and paint the back of it silver or something?

I wish the cab roof didn’t parts form. It’s not a deal breaker, but I feel like it was possible either with a resculpted small robot chest, or possible where the roof was attached to thin armatures connected by a swivel that let it rotate between modes.

 

Hmm, lightning eagle and God armor, or Machine eagle and black armor?

Now that I've ruminated on it, I can honestly see Machine Eagle as a better "no it's not Optimus, it just looks like him, honest" than the your typical God Ginrai deal.

 

I wonder if there's another character God Armour could be repainted into?

 

Maybe IDW Roller? I mean there was a digibash of it at one point using the Legends God Bomber figure and it worked out fairly well.

 

That's not a bad idea. Though I feel like it'd be best if the colours matched, but I can't think of a character that matches Machine Eagle's colours and looks enough like God Bomber.

 

I'm going with Machine Eagle. But that's because I own a Machine Wars Optimus and never heard of Thunderclash until he turned up in IDW.

It's just weird to me that it'd be shipping so early.

 

So not very happy right now. I was sent a flimsy envelope with a slip of paper saying "This is a one time coupon for $5" the same tracking number was uploaded to 2 separate preorders I had with them, the other being a FansHobby God Armor. So now both Items are showing to be delivered according to eBay. I was fine with waiting. I did not need a piece of paper saying $5 coupon physical sent to me and the tracking number for a slip of paper uploaded to eBay to show 2 order completed.

 

Yeah, I figured it'd be something like that. Apparently it has something to do with Ebay discouraging preorders by requiring sellers to ship within a period of time that, in this case, is sooner than Machine Eagle's actual release date. It's sketchy, but Baba's been reliable so far and I expect that he will send you your figure after it's actually released next month.
