The expressions "go pound sand" and "not enough sense to pound sand" are American slang from the 19th century. It is a reference to menial, and often pointless, labor....The latter phrase often appears in a longer form, "not enough sense to pound sand down a rathole."

What? Just, where do you live? I'd like to know what countries not to visit.

That's because you're correct. But, we live in a world where people say "butt-load" and I "could give a sh**", so...

I always wonder which culture has the hardest slang words or phrases to understand. I'm Cantonese (fuck you communist China) and my parents hardly say stuff to me in slang.

"The English idiom go pound sand is an expression of contempt. English speakers may use it to tell another person to go away, or to encourage one to engage in a pointless activity."
Basically, punching sand is a futile activity. You are telling someone to go away and do something useless with their time.

I took special care into color matching and cross-referencing to other episodes and such to get the CLOSEST possible color for the figure.

Hoping to see an update here soon! I'm planning to get several if the price is right. I know the Quintessons may not be everyone's cup of tea but I really enjoyed the shared adversary of both the Autobots and Decepticons.

    Ohio.
And no, I'm NOT crazy (at least THIS doesn't prove if I am or not!) ;)

    Urban Dictionary: Pound Salt

    Pound Salt
Origin (from Go Lb. Salt - golbsalt.com)

The phrase "go pound salt" originated in the early days of commercial salt mine operations in the US. There were a number of specific jobs performed by people who worked in the mine. The lowest paying and most menial job was pounding large rocks into smaller crystals that could be used for cooking and curing of meats. This job was usually given to those deemed less intelligent (the village idiot, if you will) or those who could find no other gainful employment.

The phrase became a popular way of telling someone to "go fly a kite", do something meaningless or menial, or that they were an idiot and needed to go preoccupy themselves with something mundane like crushing rock salt into crystals.

    Variation on the Theme

In other parts of the country where salt mines were not common, a variation on the theme came into existence.
"Go pound sand" was adopted/ adapted to convey the same meaning and was a shortened form of the phrase
"go pound sand down a rat hole."

Funny, I'm originally from Ohio and have never heard of anybody saying "go pound salt." Considering they literally mean the exact same thing, though, I suppose we can all go pound our preference. In the future, I'm opting for the exceptionally violent and painful "Go pound LEGO bricks."
