The problem with your choice in comparison, here, is that the Starscreams are different molds altogether. They share the same ideas in engineering, but neither of them is the same as the other. I get the point you're trying to make, but it's just not the best choice for comparison's sake. As for Gigawatt, if you want him to be a Voyager in your collection, go for it. The rest of us will recognize him as a Deluxe. These aren't supposed to scale with CHUG, but each other. The Delorean in Deluxe size pairs well with Ectotron in Voyager size.
But hey, you do you. *shrugs*

I mean, if he's too small for you, then skip 'em. If he's not, then buy him. That's all you can do.

price was $30, further preorders won't go up till October 1 according to anything hasbro has said (though those may be in stock orders and not preorders for pulse on 10/1)

Well im guessing this will be an EB games exclusive like Ectotron was. (Somebody keeps mentioning walmart) Either way, this will be the just like Ectotron, the ultimate impulse buy. And I guarantee that this is the type of impulse buy that will attract retro car fans and movie buffs. The type of people who dont go looking for toy cars online but when they see it in person they gotta have it because it takes them back to their childhood especially the box. If tgey sold this thing in a Seige style box, half the nostalgia would be flushed down the toilet. The only people who will buy it for the robot mode are people reading about it on TF fan sites.

 

Megamaid would have been too obvious, as it would be more a Spaceballs figure than a merging. Also Megamaid would be wayyy too big.

Basically the current theory is that this run of 1985 figures was supposed to be stock for SDCC (whether or not you believe that is for each to decide but it does make sense with the timing), the press release and hasbro themselves have said that there will be a non numbered (no sticker saying x of 1985) variant available for order on October 1st on hasbro pulse and other retailer websites

 

Was watching the Rodimus Primal rant. (And I like the guys podcasts) But damn bro, nobody is gonna buy those Gigawatts for $700. Thats the misleading thing about ebay. Scalpers dont get to set the value. Buyers set the value. Scalpers can ask whatever they want, but if nobody is buying, then what have they accomplished ? At the end of the day these guys are gonna get screwed when they find out the so called limited editions only difference is something incredibly stupid. Hasbro screws the scalpers just as much as they screw the fans. And if Rodimus Primal reads this, hey Im a fan of your podcasts. Sorry to hear your walmarts suck. I really have never had that issue finding exclusives. Their distribution maybe prioritizes areas which are known to to turn a higher profit. Who knows ?

 

It'd be absolutely mindbogglingly stupid if they'ed made a limited amount of these guys. BTAF is an iconic franchise with millions of fans and it'd be dumb if they only made under 2000 of em'.
