Did yours come with instructions to do a chest modification? Dino shop said the head for WMW would come with instructions on how to do some cutting on the figure to allow for a more closed chest.

How much bigger is the WMW head in comparison to the original?

So, being a complete lunatic I purchased a head from Dino Model Shop AND from Capcomkai, and both just so happened to be at home waiting for me after work today.

I'll post comparisons etc etc in a bit but can confirm the Capcomkai one is more or less 1:1 scale with the stock head and doesn't require removal for transformation, whilst the Dino Model one is larger and looks better proportioned to the body but needs to be removed for transformation. Both look great on first impressions:

If you decide to not keep the Capcomkai one I live in the UK and I'm interested, especially if it does increase the ab movement range.

Interesting. The CapcomKai one seems to have extra space for the chest which is good. Nice to know it's 1:1 scale. Don't mind the head being smaller than it should be if it can still transform.

    Groovy...
    20200703_185252~3.jpg

Comparison time. To save me typing it every time I'm going to shorten Capcomkai to CK and Dino Model Shop to DMS :p
    WARNING: Long post ahead...
    20200703_210959~3.jpg 20200703_211051~2.jpg 20200703_211131~2.jpg 20200703_211350~2.jpg

    Some observations:
    • The stock head looks slightly bigger than the CK head because of the bigger neck, the big blue hinge on the back of the head and the different overall proportions. They are the same scale though.
    • The stock head/MPM sculpt is trash.
    • These heads elevate the overall figure in much the same way the improved UT Challenger head did, only with more detail.
    • Both are painted beautifully. Like, really really well done. I get that they're a lot of money for a head but thinking in terms of paying for an individuals time to hand paint these as well as the manufacturing costs I'm OK with the prices. I'm sure there's still a markup but for a hand painted custom piece it's understandable. Up to you if you feel it's worth it or not though.
    • Both heads attach to the necks by ball joints and have much better range of motion than the stock head except for looking straight up which the stock is better at.
    • Up close the DMS one is a tiny bit sloppy with the gold detailing compared to the CK head.
    • CK head has cybertronian details on the antennae, the DMS does not.
    • DMS has clear cybertronian markings printed on the cheek guards. The CK one being smaller scale just has nondescript silver details but they are molded in.
    • CK head has better detail on the battle mask.
    • DMS head has some visible 3D printing lines.
    • CK has a thicker neck than DMS.
    • CK neckbase allows for closer placement of chest but can still do stock position.
    • DMS has the neutral face sculpted in the head and the battle mask attaches via two small tabs.
    • CK has separate neutral and battle mask faces that attach via magnets. It's a really nice idea and would work well... BUT... mine has a an assembly error in that the magnet in the battle mask and main head are repelling each other, so it wants to ping off and is only held in by weak friction. When that fails it goes flying. This is a bummer as I have no idea how to fix that. I'll contact CK and see what he says.

    DMS head on the figure:

    CK head on the figure:
    20200703_210709~3.jpg

The CK head looks almost perfect scale for the MPM/LT, but the neck peg is slightly too large to properly attach:
    20200703_213917~3.jpg

Overall they're both extremely well done. If I ignored the magnet issue (and it is a big issue to be fair, I just don't know if it's on mine only), I do feel the CK head is overall (very) slightly better quality than the DMS one. Slightly better paint and I believe it's injection molded rather than 3D printed. It also benefits from not impacting the transformation. If that's important to you, and the size doesn't bother you (so to speak) then you can't go wrong with the CK head.

The DMS loses a couple of points in comparison because of the gold paint and needing to be removed for transformation, although it's on a ball peg and can easily pop on/off (and let's be real no one likes transforming this figure anyway :p ). It gains a lot of points by being larger and looking better proportioned on the body.

Nice! I do prefer the size of the dino model head, but I think if I just slightly extend the balljoint on the CK head, I'd be ok with it since it still transforms. In the pictures though, is the chest transformed closer together or not for CK?

If you mean by putting it on the MPM you'll need to do some filing down of the neck peg to fit on the MPM base otherwise it won't fit in.

No I just went with the normal chest transformation, the closer chest placement still pushes them up a mm or two.

I'm undecided at the moment, I like them both so I'm going to give it a bit of time to see which I prefer, but I'll keep you in mind if I decide to sell the capcomkai one. I'll try and get the magnet issue sorted beforehand.

dude if it were me..I'd pull out the magnets and substitute 3D Printed plastic dowels and leave a hole in the head.
If I get Capcomkai I may do it anyways

I'm so upset, my DMS head has been out for delivery all day, but nothing. No idea what happened to it. Found nothing around my house.

Yeah I'm probably going to have to work out how to pull this magnet out. Any tips?

    Not sure..
Initially I was thinking a hobby knife but trying to limit damage to the surrounding plastic. I'd most likely use a Dremel and drill it out..
they got some tiny micro drill sets.

Since that part isn't going to be seen at all, you could work an exacto blade in there and work it free, maybe mark the side that faces you first with a pen so you can remember which side didn't work. A small notch off to the side of the magnet with a pointed tool could help get underneath the magnet also. Flip it, stick it, and see ya later bye.
Looks fixable however, so that is good.
I also bought both heads, but based on your great write-up, looks like CK is the winner here.
Interesting bc one of the main goals here was a larger more in scale head.
I didn't receive any word or tracking from CK so good to know these custom heads are making their way out!
