Numerous points of articulation AND ankle tilts? What is this?! WFC?!!

Overload. He's got chunk and knows how to use it.

Where’s that rotation joint on overload? The one where it looks like the knees for devastator?

Right around where the thickness of the shoulders/arms tapers off.

Alright, I had a bunch of time to play around with it, and tried some things out........trial and error you might say.

    I conclude this:

As much as I love the All-4 look, and I'll probably display him like that from time to time....having him upright is the way to go if you want a stress-free, super stable toy experience. lol

I noticed that the struts from Scavenger should not only turn backwards, but you need to clip them ontop of the black wheel section; or else there is just TOO much weight, and the entire upper body will constantly shift forward and down on you.

    Here:

With everything else in it's stock configuration, it's quite a stable combiner; and I don't think this looks half bad at all.

*everything is rock solid in terms of connections, I was literally walking around my house holding it....I may or may not have been making growling noises while I did it*

Odd cause I've heard that the upright configuration is the less stable of the two... Guess I'll just have to wait to find out for myself.

Yep. There is a lock for everything. The shoulders are configured properly, so they aren't rotating forward. The struts are supported. Mixmaster is connected with both parts; the clips and the wheels. It really becomes a brick!

The All-4s is totally doable, and indeed looks great....but there is a loooooot of move this, this falls off, move that, that falls off, etc etc. In the end, you can get the All-4s, but for a more enjoyable experience, the upright is far easier to configure.

Love that the option exists however.

I'm really enjoying the overall aesthetics of this Devy. Well done Hasbro, and thank you.

(edit: Now I figured out the All-4s in a much more efficient way....posted later in this thread, might be my fav now!)

I think some of the earlier notions of instability come from people who got Overload without instructions (leave it at that) or simply didn't look at them.

Devastator is pretty stable. He is soooooo much better than CW/POTP combiners. More sturdy than CW/UW Devastator and even POTP Predaking (SS Devy's arms won't implode from weight and come apart).

Hmm, trying to figure out exactly what you mean. Overload technically doesn't provide a rotating knee for Devastator mode (unless I'm an idiot and completely missed it). Rampage and Long Haul have these combo ankle / knee parts, which can provide rotation.

Copied this from the movie thread where I think shows the rotation you're talking about. The rotation is provided by Long Haul and Rampage.

Definitely getting the hang of the All-4s mode.

Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' about!
The dynmaic "one arm forward/one arm back" crawl is definitely the winner so far!

On pvps video he said he’s worried about overloads claw snapping under pressure because it’s under the long haul foot. Did you guys find a way around that?

I’d like one too for the scale! Devastator and all his Constructicons are all too undersized for SS. Granted, Hasbro probably couldn’t fit scale accuracy into the budget they’re working on and I’d love to support their 2 year work, but as a pretty scale-obsessed collector their sizes drive me nuts.

    Nope.

There is still a good 1/4 inch, to almost 1/2 inch clearance....and I have him in a deep, extended All-4s pose right now.

(he also said and did a ton of stuff in his alt mode video that has plenty of better walk-a-arounds)

Those way too early videos are unreliable and shouldn’t be used to make proper conclusions. The claw is safely tucked inside when properly transformed.

    Absolutely THIS!

Besides the Overload foot breaking concern, which we just addressed....
He also put zero effort into configuring the shoulders correctly, and locking them into place using the struts of Scavenger (which I illustrated in an above post of mine)

There is also a way to flip out the toes on Overloads bot mode, to help secure them into place ever so slightly in Devy mode, not a lot, but enough to help hold it into place.

Lastly , and most importantly, you can still connect Mixmaster in a "looking up" pose, and still use all the parts for his neck. (As you also see in my photos)

Super appreciate PvP bringing us a first look, but it really creates unnecessary anxiety and falsehoods among our already severely OCD fandom.

I understand the scale argument, but that’s a shitload of shelf space you’d have to allocate for oversized bots

Look at the first post in the Overload feedback thread. The dude misses sooo many features and articulation points on Overload. If you just read that review and impressions you'd think the figure was crap when everyone else seems to love it. PvP is generally pretty good, but there are plenty of quick reviews that miss a lot of key things. Ben and tonton on youtube miss a LOT in their reviews and sometimes it's so obvious without even owning the figure. Ben messed up his BA Prime review so badly he had to do a followup.
