So here's my old Washburn acoustic. It was one of those built in electric models which some prior to me has gutted and put a plate over the control area. She needs a good cleaning and restringing. Holds tune like a champ and has nice action for an acoustic.

She's my campfire special. Needs repair since someone in my household damaged it no matter how many times they want me to believe the guitar must have done it to itself! :lol
    20200416_100143.jpg

I'll try to dig out the ES335 clone and give a few details on how to spot them in the wild. Some of them are getting pretty good. My clone is pretty good and sounds on par with newer 335s.

Maybe when this pandemic is over I'll bring the SG out of storage and take some pics of my dads collection which is awesome. He's even building his own Telecaster right now.

Here's a list of some of the rare birds I've had and sold over the years (some I wanted to part with and others not so much but life and its troubles effect us all from time to time)

    1. 1980 Ibanez Artist factory left handed
    2. 1994 Gibson ES175D
    3. 1980 Fender Lead 1 (custom prototype)
    4. 1964 Gibson J-45
    5. 1963 Fender Jazzmaster
    6. 1913 Gibson L-3 acoustic

Out of all of them I miss the L-3 the most by far. Out there as well is a 2004 Epiphone Sheraton lefty which I highly modified. On board I installed two 70s DiMaggio pickups, you ain't ever heard a more powerful blues machine to rival it. The pickup were high oms, it was the loudest guitar I've ever played.

What I am currently working on, a Kurt Cobain style Fender Mustang franken-stang. Still in the middle stages.

Don't ever let them tell you that you need a fancy router for wood work. I routed the body for the switches and the two \ / lines for the bridge using forstner bits and a chisel set. Total cost: 20$. It may not look beautiful but it's all going to be under the pickguard and bridge plate, so who cares?
    20200416_095713.jpg

KC style turtle pickguard and 2 rail pickups. One from guitarfetish and one from dragonfire.
pickguard.jpg This a just a mock-up. I still need to get the stop piece, drill the holes and get the switching wiring harness and solder it in.

    Campfire special indeed. :lol
Definitely post some pics of your dad's stuff, I'd love to see that and the progress on his Tele.

Admittedly not a big Cobain fan, but that is a nice guitar and I bet it's gonna sound immaculate when you're done with it. Keep us updated.

I'm mainly a synths and samplers guy, but I have a handful of guitars I use for various things. I don't use them that often so they're all in desperate need of cleaning and setup.

My main guitar for recording and couch playing is an Ibanez AF95 hollow body. It looked like it was transparent black in the shop when I bought it but it looks like an ugly brown under any other light. It covers most of my warm jazz box style sounds:
    Hollow.jpg

My other main recording guitar is a G&L Legacy that plays and sounds amazing. It covers all my traditional single coil strat style sounds:
    Legacy2.jpg

Then I've got a Gibson Les Paul Studio. It sounds good, but the build quality wasn't worth the money and put me off ever buying Gibson again:
    LP1.jpg

For my 7 string needs I've got a baritone Ibanez Prestige of some sort. I don't remember the model number and from what I remember the previous owner replaced the pickups with the highest gain passive pickups he could get. It sounds alright and the neck is flat like a ruler, but I don't use it that often.
    7String1.jpg

I've got a Dean Dave Mustaine signature thing for high gain sounds and general fun. I got it because I wanted something with high gain active pickups, a fixed bridge so I can tune it to whatever without the hassle of a floating trem, and a fast easy neck for playing.
    Dean1.jpg

I've also got a Squier Tele, but I loaned it to someone a while ago and don't have pictures. It's got two humbuckers in it and I don't really like it, but I paid almost nothing for it and it plays alright. I think it's the Vintage Modified Deluxe.

For bass I've got a Mexican Fender P Bass. I replaced the bridge when I bought it:
    PBass2.jpg

I've also got a bunch of pedals. I tend to use them for everything, not just guitar, so my pedal board changes depending on what I'm doing. I'm in the middle of redoing it at the moment, but it looks like this:
    Pedal_Board2.jpg

    And some others:
    Pedals1.jpg

The metal zone is a guilty pleasure that reminds me of my cheesy high school metal band days.

Crazy dude! My Dave Dean is a beast man. Most comfortable neck I've ever played on, the sound of the pickups isn't my favorite, but it is a good sound. I prefer passive pickups depending on what kind. (Need to get a new 9 volt here soon for that V). You have any of your stuff uploaded to Youtube or anything?

I'd say a Squier or any kind of cheap guitar from Walmart or something like that (depending on what you wanna spend) would be good to start out with. Anything inexpensive would be the way to go for something to start with. Check some pawn shops, there are decent finds from time to time and for a good price.

My husband collected guitars and is an enthusiast, is really against cheap one :lol . I;ll go behind his back to get her started. I had a Dean Baby Z as a kid, I wish I still had it. Sold it to guitar center for next to nothing right before my daughter was born. Her dream is to be a rock star of course I don't have the guitar anymore. My husband insists Dean's are crap anyway. The thing was heavy as hell, i couldn't even play it.

Well I would certainly suggest anything Gibson if price is not a problem. As the expression goes, "Only a Gibson is good enough." :lol

At 5 years of age I'd recommend a short scale acoustic for her to pratice on. I got one for my daughter when she was that age. Just last Christmas my dad gave her her first "real" guitar and amp. Shes now playing a cherry Dillon SG standard.

I like expensive guitars too. But I hate buying them again and again. 5 year olds can do a number on a guitar. Paying 25-30 bucks to replace a short scale pratice guitar is better then paying 200-400 bucks. Plus my now 8 year old is just big enough to comfortably play a normal scale electric.

Nice gear. Seeing it all reminds me of the days I had a recording studio. I see alot of pedals I use to have lol. Still got that DS1 and my 70s big muff.

Have to see if I can find pics of my 1969 Mini Moog since you're into synths. It was so awesome but you needed to take pics with your phone or write everything down to remember how to set all the banks to make the sound you create.

On the topic of Gibson. Studios are the worst product they make in my opinion. But I also found the newer Gibsons to be total shit anyway. Inferior finishing and material. One SG I played at a store felt like I was holding two unfinished pieces of wood and it fucking buzzed from the pickup saddle UNPLUGGED! lol.

Old school is the way to go. When I started guitar in 1991 my dad showed me a Gibson flyer and said notice anything? 11 year old me didn't. He then pointed out 70% of the guitars were reissues. He then said just get the real thing. Needless to say I still own my 1965 SG Special lol

I can't remember the name I got it second hand but I seen them at bestbuys and walmarts. Just keep receipt if you get one that won't hold tune and return it.

They might be like 40. I'm in Canada so everything is like $10 more usually at retail.

cool, always wanted to play the electric guitar. I'm just an amateur but I found many useful info here for musicians. I've found many useful tools for my home studio. Hope with its help I'd be able to record my fist songs in the future.
