He isn’t really based on anything, we never really got concept art that I am aware of so I am mainly just making his transformation work. He may end up having an optional 4 leg mode live the 3rd party devy, but right now he is just rotf rampage with legs. here he is splayed our just to show how he goes together.
Quick update on how his backpack folds up and how his vehicle mode is looking. Took off the grill on the front of him as well since it does really stand out that it doesn’t belong. anyways let me know what you think! and yes I am going to fill the gaps and smooth out the panels once his transformation is finalized.
Another small update, will add details in the future, but minus his fingers his arm mode is looking good and very proportional. Even though I took off the arm grill pieces, his back grill actually ends up near where it does in concept art, happy accidents and all. You can also see on his shoulders that I cut off the top circular bits and added a hinge so that they hide in vehicle mode and make a cleaner vehicle mode. anyways here he is, plow is cut apart and will be placeholders until I find a bigger plow or I may just modify and enlarge them for his vehicle mode.
Impressive but needs longer fingers imo edit : well in fact there isn't any fingers, I guess you are planning to add them later
yea I originally was going to use the orange ones for scrapper, but they are already so close to the fingers on his other arm I will incorporate them into bucket head, for scrappers fingers I just need to re-engineering his legs to accommodate 2 extra fingers. also am idea I have been throwing around, I know how to replace rampage, or rather skipjack’s treads with actual rubber and will do it for him, but should I look into adding rubber treads and tires for the others? I have rubber treads already from some other model kits and would be in scale.
Well after trial and error here is his leg with a new foot and transformation for his finger. Little bit of work will go into making it smoother and less open, but here is the general transformation. He even has articulated toes like his concept shows. for the other finger I’m going to try to have it wrap over the top of his hip wheel so that it is hidden a little bit. he also has an ankle tilt now as well as a foot forward rock. And here is it in vehicle mode, it’s coming together nicely. that bar on the shovel will be changed in the final design, I just needed a way to hold them together for sizing. and here are the other bits of his plow ready to be cut apart and added.
Holy shit, you actually managed to rework it to look spot on. That was one of the gripes I had with Scrapper, the fact that the bucket on his feet are supposed to be upside down. Absolutely great work here. Your revamps have been nothing short of amazing. I’m eager to see how you’ll handle the torso section (Scavenger and Overload). How are you planning on making Overload connect to the legs? I’d imagine you aren’t gonna be adding the multi spider legs to Overload due to weight distribution. As someone who isn’t too knowledgeable when it comes to customs, what do you use to make the parts? 3D printing? Resin? Black magic? You seem to be able to get them extremely accurate.
for overload it doesn’t really matter if I give him spider legs since his shoulders are the ratchet joints, and I will have them somehow connect to the leg bots. To be honest I just kind of roll with what works connection wise. And I probably will just make his legs split in half as an option so that I can choose spider or normal legs. and I really just find parts that look right and glue them all together to make my customs. And then use LEGO joints or other scrap bits to connect everything. I also use plastic styrene sheets and rods to make parts from scratch like the bucket, pretty much anything white. Honestly his transformation isn’t “impossible” at least it wouldn’t be if they didn’t go crazy with the random kibble in the movies. And with scavenger I have ideas, but I need overload to really get an idea of how I’m going to fill out his torso, since I am still planning for a yellow long haul to be added to fill it out and make him more of a hunch back.
I love the way these are coming out, especially scrapper. Just curious have you done any work on scavenger.
scavenger is kind of in pieces, I have a plan with him but it requires disassembly of his center bar, and I cannot figure out how to do that atm, but he will be next. Thank you, if I could only be so lucky to be involved in something like that. Yea, I like scrapper much better with a proper vehicle mode. And I hope devy looks just as good too.
yea I meant center bar anyways here is his latest update, Lisa figured out his finger transformation, just need the make it less LEGO like and fit together a little more, but the proportions are there. And here are his finger placements. looks empty right now but once I have 4 fingers and locking points for the joints. mans here is his leg, a little bulky but once cleaned up and painted I think it will look good. Kind of hard to his that second finger but it works. anyways comments always welcome!
