I bought one of these recently. When I tried to transform it, I get to swinging out the gun handle and it just will not go. Feels like it's going to snap. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

I suggest you don't. He's known to break there. The white block isn't curved properly and they snap, so take care with proper pressure as you turn the panel.

Always nice to see another macrossworld veteran (especially one that got out of the hobby for the same reason...)

Everyone I've talked to as well as with mine it takes quite a bit of force. Hold as close as possible to the pivot between the white piece and calf panel and slowly apply pressure. It will eventually go.

I don't think I've heard of anyone's breaking there to be honest. Can you link this reported breakage?

For sure. As much of a fan as I am of all things Macross/Robotech, I started feeling like their collecting community was more about who has the most expensive stuff and can afford to keep up with the high dollar items, so it got old after a while. No hate towards that scene though, just not my deal. =)

It takes a leap of faith but I've never had an issue on mine and I've yet to read of anyone else breaking theirs.

I've read about it in this very discussion forum... Or one about issues with it, but I am sure it was here. But your advice on the transformation is sound

    Probably wise

You can make that 4, I only kept my yamato 1/48 vf-1s with strike armor parts because I love Roy fokker and one extra to make a custom jetfire. I was I in some fan groups, but they're extremely fanatical. If you say Rick, or veritech or anything related to harmony gold/robotech they kick you out. They all know that robotech was the gateway into the fandom for most, but because harmony gold is a real shady company they disowned robotech. It's a little silly. I get not supporting a company with new material, but to disown something you loved as a result? It's dumb

It's your call man. Personally it was and still is sketchy for me the 1st time going and also with his Translucent gun tip arm breaking is also another sketchy area to be cautious about. Just remember 1 thing,if something goes wrong:Goodluck finding parts.

And to all the Macross talk,I'm a total noob for the figures/toys. I also get all mixed up with the proper terms from Robotech/Macross. Luckily the folks in both Macross & Robotech threads here have been very helpful and none are A-Holes about it like some you mentioned in Macross World. @ the end of the day,we all just love the same Series. To bad HG doesn't like to play with others though.

(With apologies to everyone who, like me, hopes for a reissue announcement whenever this thread bumps)

Is there any chance of getting replacement parts for this guy anymore? I caught my clear one's outstretched arm while dusting and cracked his shoulder joint (someday I'll learn my lesson about transparent plastic). Before I start thinking about insane options like 3d-printing or CNCing a new one, I wanted to exhaust the sensible ones first. I bought from a random ebay seller who's since gone rogue, so no help there.

Can you contact cloud9? The other option is to try to buy a different broken one...

That's my question, too. Their social media last updated in 2016, so it seems unlikely, but I'd be pleased to be wrong. They were selling new ones last year, I guess.

As for cannibalizing a broken one, for the prices I've seen I'd do just as well hiring a machinist to make me a one-off part - QB isn't the bargain alternative anymore!

    (p.s. reissue Quakeblast)

You might as well have the white pieces in his legs remade as well, with repeated transformations the legs are known to self destruct

You keep saying this but I (and others) have never heard of this being an issue. Everyone says they are scary tight yes, but no one in this form has stated that they have broken that hinge. Just to be sure I wasn't crazy I went back and read this entire thread and there is no mention of people breaking that part.

Where though, you said here, but it hasn't been said in this thread. I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just curious as to where this claim started as I've never heard it before (and it's not from this thread).

Same here. I've not heard of any widespread breakage issues with this figure besides the "gun hand" breaking.
