I think so. If you liked PotP and have any attachment to the '85/'86 combiner teams, then you will definitely like Combiner Wars. Some of the figures run a little high on the aftermarket, it seems, so you'll have to ask yourself if it's worth it. I would also recommend that you hold off on getting the Stunticons/Menasor until after you've already completed at least one other combiner, as Menasor is very unstable. That said, every other torso I've gotten so far is very good. As a final note, John Warden seems to consider the Combiner Wars figures as being the WFC representation of those characters, if that matters to you.

Thanks for the I sight, my overbearing desire to be a completionist with the trilogy is the major driver I suppose.

then I need to consider do I go G1 or G2 repaint sets. ugh its such a love hate relationship being a collector

G2 repaints would be better/cheaper if you're a stickler for having the correct/complete team. Slingshot (Quickslinger), Dead End(Brakedown or something like that) and Shuttle Blast Off are very expensive on the aftermarket if you want the G1 teams. But the G2 teams come in sets so they all have the appropriate team member.

There's also the Unite Warriors boxsets. But again, it would be more costly.

I returned to getting major numbers of figures when the Dinobots were finally done "right".. being a combiner wasn't something that I considered to be "needed" but, heck, why not.

It brought me to get a few more figures, and then Bruticus being an old favorite, sure.. then Superion, then a few more for Abominus that I found on liquidation and I needed to complete him... turned out that they got me... I ended up with 5 gestalt and really love each one...

Note that I set Devastator aside this as he's more of a titan and not compatible with the others.

If you like the combiners... they are a great updated version of them, very loyal to the original look and design, but 100x better in every way. The cons: cheap hard plastic, loose joints, ball joints. Many are the same engineering, but that's to be expected.

I mean, Titans Return really brought me to collecting Transformers since I was a kid, they did a great job and I get all nostalgic handling them. unfortunately I know that since I was late on combiner wars the cost is going to be heavy since they are almost all marked up at this point. but I guess if I want to say I've completed the Trilogy, then that would mean in the end buying the g1 singles and the g2 sets......o where does it end hahaha. I love these things!

maybe I'm best off finding the last few pieces I need to complete Titans Return and call it a win.

Check out the KOs if you aren't against them.. the ones I got were amazing... better plastic I find than authentic ones... had to put the Autobots/Decepticons logos on them, but you can get a full set for almost a 1/3 of the price.

I'm going to suggest the Combiner Wars KOs too, if you don't mind them.
If you're curious, poke around the KO Thread - they're a frequent topic as there are the standard colors and an assortment of skittles colors ripe for customs.
The Knock off transformers thread (not a specific post, just a handy link)

Also there is a downsized KO of the offical Titan Devastator, to scale with the other combiner teams, (Kubian CBB (CoolBecomeBrave) Devastator).

The CW KOs that they were talking about are called CoolBecomeBrave or CBB. They can be found on sirtoys. The 4 combiners are menasor, defensor, superion, and a downsized devastator as well as those 4 in various repaints.

Yes, but mostly for the traditional combiners. While combiners are cool most of the nontraditional teams have better toys out or coming soon. Also i would suggest getting the smaller KO Devastator or TFC Toys Hercules.

This Eagle Breasted Chunk of Victory perfection is the most amazing figure that I have ever held in my hands!!! I had no clue that Greatshot was going to be so poseable. And the ankle tilt is extremely impressive! And to think I almost past on this figure, so glad I didn't because he is now sold out! Next up is LG Big Powered, they are going to look so good together!

Cool thanks, appreciate everyone's input l, didnt mean to stray far from the topic of the thread. Figured with TR and CW being a part of the same trilogy people on here would have good insight.

I'll most likely give one oh the KO's a shot, looks like CBB is on scale, just wish they had done all of the combiner sets

Just keep in mind the normal colored KOs and the "rainbow" KOs are not made of the same plastic, but they are all the same size as their official counterparts and fully CW/POTP compatible.

Hey Boomatronous sorry I'm late to this topic.
I actually did the exact samething as you.

I hadn't collected or even touched a transformer since 1991 when I was a kid at the dentist office. But then at the beginning of 2017 I was walking around in my local Target when I just happened to walk by the Transformers stuff, and Titans Return caught my eye and it was game over.

I jumped into collecting transformers headfirst, starting of course with the Titans Return line, then Power Of The Primes. It definitely took me some time to learn the TF landscape And what to collect, and in the end I figured out that I wanted to collect a "Modern masterpiece style version of the G1 cartoon in the Mainline." I liked this style of collecting because it would give me all the G1 characters from 84-85, 86 movie, Victory, and Super-God Master Force. By collecting in this way I actually have a finishing point to my collection, and that in of itself is just amazing!

The next thing I had to figure out was what lines I should pull my transformers from, I decided that I would only collect the Prime Wars Trilogy and forward, only going back through Generations for figures (mostly to complete the Wreckers) like Sandstorm, Warpath, Whirl, Scoop, and Drift from the Generations and Thrilling 30's lines.

I've always had this fascination with Combiners, so Combiners would definitely have a special place in my collection, plus I feel like no G1 collection is complete without Combiners. But I also came into the game late, so I started hunting combiners at the same time as hunting POTP. It was regular brick and mortar for new prime wars stuff coming out, and vintage toy shops, ebay, and the TFW sales Thread for Combiner Wars hunting.

Even to this day I'm still working on my Combiner Collection. I usually add new Combiners in between Mainline releases or when I run out of new stuff to hunt. I am now up to 15 combiners collecting in this way. I only need 6 more combiners and I'm done with all the combiners.

Next I view the combiners as there own characters, and my rule of thumb is to only ever have one of any character on display (unless it's a Seeker). So what that means is that if I have Earthrise Wheeljack on my shelf, then that is the only version of him on my display, and combiner limbs don't count because they are part of a bigger figure. So naturally I want only the best Modern G1 masterpiece style version of any given figure on my display.

My ultimate goal is to get my collection to the point in which I have every G1 character represented and I'm literally only updating the collection with better looking more G1 versions of figures. I am very close to achieving this goal!

I don't suggest being a Transformers Line Completionist, just because you will eventually burn out, or run out of space whichever comes first, just remember they can always do infinite repaints to take all your money. But if you stick to the 1 G1character rule, you will stay in control of your collection because: there are only so many actual G1 characters, you will have an actual realistic collection completion goal, eventually you will have all the G1 cast of characters. At that point the real fun begins because you will only need to update your existing complete collection when new stuff comes out if you feel like it. And you can be extra selective about who is getting added and replaced.

    Final thought:
Combiner Wars/Unite Warriors, Titans Return/Legends, Power of the Primes, Siege, Earthrise, and Generation Selects all goes well together. And you will need to pull from all of them if you want the perfect Modern G1 Collection. So bring on Earthrise!!!!

First half of ur comment sounds like you were telling my story.

Now however I find myself completing checklists for each series rather than particular show/team combinations. each shelf is it's own set, TR, PotP Siege, Earthrise. I've been going for the generation selects and exclusives as well with their respective lines.

I have doubled back to the old beast wars series since they are a favorite of mine, loved that show. I'm considering dabbling in Masterpiece but with my desire to fill the check list I'll go broke. and that's where I get hung up with combiner wars, I would have to get the entire run, possibly both the singles and their respective combiner sets. no big deal except all the mark up values now. but how cool would it be to own the entire Prime Wars trilogy!!

The only end of the rainbow I have now is the 3rd run in War for Cybertron after Earthrise ends, unless the next series is equally awesome!
