Hong Konger here!! I could be really really wrong but I’m gonna call them just throwing the movie term on Classified a mistake. They’re located in Sino Center in Mong Kok which is a hodgepodge of shady and some legit businesses in there. I’m not familiar with this company, there’s 6+ floors of mainly toy shops in there. A lot of the shops are run by people who open up stores instead of getting part time jobs which made shopping there a chore. You’d find the clerk asleep at the counter or they’d run late from work and instead of opening at 5pm they open at 8:53 and close at 10pm. Some days places never open at all.

But the way they list Classified Series (2020 Movie) is what makes me wonder. Granted they don’t list movie by the others but those have pics. The Red Chinese characters say pics are not available. They would know Snake Eyes would be the movie title. I don’t think these characters were even rumoured. Also I don’t know if Hasbro would go back to make Retaliation figures, likeness rights involved with the Rock and the Cobra Troopers were boring. Which begs the other question, are they blue shirt Cobra Troopers or they just called them that and they’re Alley Vipers? Is this just a repack or Roadblock or him in new mission gear?

They way a lot of shops there get stock is through distributors or connections in the factory. They won’t give them bug or animal code names, just what they are. Wave 2 lists Sept here but Nov there. But this movie wave with no pics is coming a month before. Perhaps this was a case mix of movie and Classified figs but the movie ones have been pulled. Rumours are flying around the movie may get pushed back so the toys would too. Just pull the movie figs and fill them with the other characters. Sorry to write a book but knowing a bit about how some shops in HK run made me question that ad while some sites are running with Roadblock and Beachhead are in the Snake Eyes movie!!!!

Fun little side story about that mall they’re in. Besides being a pain in the ass going to get something there and the shops either closed or opening way later, you had to deal with Interpol raids on the place. Sometimes it might open a day later or sometimes be closed for part of a week. They had an early warning system for when they got raided. I was going shopping there with a friend one night and a guy was running through the place shouting stuff with papers in his hand. He was saying “Free Chicken Meal”. All the stores started shutting their doors and the owners were evacuating the place through the back while the cops were stuffing merchandise in big bags of the unlucky shops near the ground floor and had people in cuffs against the wall. Another time during a raid a guy was banging a pan yelling “Free Ice Cream Cone!!!” I was kicked out the shop as the owner locked it up and ran up the escalator. Good times!!

Thanks for posting that. I suspected that the “movie” bit could have been a mistake, so it’s nice to hear that it’s likely the case, from someone who would know better.

The Interpol bit was just icing on on a very informational post. :thumb

I wonder what their plan will be for a GIJoe game though, it works best maybe as a rogue style, not sure an action game like DMC/GoW will work as well. They could copy Shinobi or Ninja Gaiden if they did only Snakeeyes, but to have all of them will have to be some crazy game play implements

I hope it’s 3rd person, with different characters. It’s so limiting if it’s just SE.

Thanks for the info. I used to frequent HobbyBase each time I visit HK and I’m having mixed feelings about their listings.

From past experience, aren’t their listings for POs fairly accurate? E.g. Transformers, Marvel, Neca etc.

But yeah, the listings for the movie wave seems off...

One thing I must agree is that HK toy stores really have good connections and are quite accurate with leaks! X)

I agree, only that SE is an extreme diff in the typical GIJoe group, name a video game with a ninja and commandos? It's to separate styles of play, and although SE does use an Ozi, who wants to be shooting people with SE? Upclose and personal slicing and dicing is what comes to mind for him, where I expect to have RB with a giant galling gun mowing down enemies, game play wise those are to very distinct styles that don't usually mess well. I'd say the closest we've come to that would be the Star Wars games but they've never mixed a lightsaber and a blaster. It's gonna be very interesting however they decide to tackle those concepts

A buddy of mine punched out a few Uzis with his digital printer for me. I got them from him today. Not very detail but they will do for Snake eyes. These are 6 inch scale.

Heh, you’re going to ship your POL, and he will drop in a few days later. I can’t even remember how many times that happened to me.

Yeah I know. I mean, it's not the end of the world, I have other things on pre order. He and the Vintage Collection Mando were supposed to drop in in June and it looks like they will both be in the next pile.

That sounds like a better movie than Rise of Cobra and Retaliation combined. Joes in the run while trying to buy toys.

Would’ve been best if they just reshelled Battlefield 4 with lasers instead of bullets and added more Joe/Cobra vehicles. Technically the Dragonfly is already in it but more bad ass. My friend and I took turns being “Airborne” online while this other random guy was “Wild Bill” and that guy was a BEAST with the AH-1Z Viper(upgraded AH-1 Cobra variant for the USMC).

Include DLC codes for TOW missles and Sidewinders and I’d be good to go.

Lol. That’s a crazy story. I’ve only got to go to Hong Kong once, and I’ve definitely not seen any raids, but I did definitely notice that they seem to have a very laid back approach to when their shops open. My one time there, we went to the mall (I guess you’d call it a mall), where the Hot Toys Secret Base is located. Actually the entire mall was a really cool place, but many of the stores opened way late. I think it was the King Arts store that I was waiting to open, that didn’t open until the early afternoon. Really cool shops in there, but it seemed like you definitely didn’t want to go there in the morning.

Hobbybase is one of the most well known shops selling Hasbro items in HK. From my experience, they're quite legit, and if I'm not mistaken, are also a preferred retailer of Hasbro, they get allocations for a number of exclusives (SDCC for example) when they hit HK which they don't sell at huge markups. Usually they're quite accurate when giving solicits so I'm going to believe Hobbybase on this one.

Up to 3-4 years ago, HK was really a toy collector’s dream land. They literally had every conceivable toyline. From 80s vintage, action figures and robot toys (TFs, SOC)...and the locations were easily accessible by subway.

If I recalled correctly, each mall would specialised in different toys. For example, Mall A may specialise in action figures but one can still find robot toys and so on.

Of course due to its close proximity to mainland China, it has er...”access” to factory leaks/rejects.

However, the toy scene has changed quite abit. Previously, the mall where Hobbybase (where the Joe leaks came from) was stacked with toys. However over time, many of the toy vendors have closed shop and move on.

Its rather sad to see the state of HK right now...

I finally caved and ordered Pimp Destro and light blue Cobra Commander. I still haven't decided on Storm Shadow. I think I'd rather wait for a more traditional one.
