Personally I never liked gun hands. Like on Trailbreaker or Inferno. I thought the inclusion of two hands with the toy meant that the cartoon should've given them two hands. I've never liked partsforming, that's one way of cheating that just irks me. TFP Cliffjumper had the perfect design for integrated gunhands.
While yeah its possible to transform the G1 seekers without removing the wings, I mean that's what I do with my reissue Starscream, they are designed to be removed for transformation.

While partsforming isnt exactly my cup of tea either, sometimes it makes sense like Omega Supreme. I mean you even see the parts disconnect in the cartoon. But for me, faux parts is the ultimate sin. Its like parts forming on steroids. At least with partsforming, the piece is utilized in both modes. Faux parts cant say the same. I wont use Cliffjumper's rear as a shield. But im open to the idea that it launches out in mid air during transformation and reconnects similar to omega supreme parts. If you think about it, technically combiners are partsformers. They levitate in mid air to combine. One could argue that the jet combiner teams ability to fly is the only reason they can levitate and combine. But then what about the car and beast combiner teams ? They dont fly. So how come they never get called out as being partsformers when they transform the same way omega supreme does ? What about headmasters ? Is that not partsforming ? They always get a free pass from the fandom. If you look at some of the hypocrisy behind certain partsformers that get a free pass, partsforming isnt the worst thing in the world. Im not by any means defending what they did with Cliffjumper. But what they are doing with sunstreakers feet and the coneheads faux nosecones bother me much more because no aspect of the fiction can even attempt to justify it. It makes it more toyish in my opinion. Especially for those fans who would normally be in awe about how they pulled it off. Faux parts rob you of that feeling. Oh how did they do that ? Easy....fake ass parts.

The elbow swivel IS the ''swivel arm battle grip.'' Star wars figures didn't have that, most didn't even have elbow joints, let alone swivel. The Joes back then did not have wrist articulation - that's nice, but not necessary.

I grew up with G1, and articulation is of paramount importance to me. I always hated how limited my toys were when I was a kid (I could make better articulated robots with Lego, so I could never understand why a toy made to be a fold-up robot couldn't have elbows). I knew they could be better. And this is why Siege Starscream was so amazing to me, and why I bought my first HasTak toy for something like 30 years in April last year.

I hear you. I felt the same way when I got my first modern Transformer in 2007. But in my opinion theres a difference between articulation and super-duper uber unnecessary articulation. Knees, elbows, thigh movement, and neck and waist swivel are all welcome improvements. But some of these collectors are starting to get super geeky with their expectations for non-MP figures. Among those expectations are ankle tilts, fingers, and ab crunch which has to be the most pointless point of articulation. Im suprised they arent calling for flexible ass cheeks.
