DOTM is 9 years old?! I can't believe it's been that long. I remember buying a million legion class figures and a few deluxe class figures. The hype was unreal back then. I really wish I could go back in time and re-live the moments. I'll be sure to post some pics later for my favourite transformers movie.

 

I just got SS Soundwave and Shatter (Jet) and I love them. They're my first SS figures since Grimlock. I don't love transforming Soundwave but I love his bot mode and I have the "movie the best" version to keep in alt mode. Shatter is amazing. I love both modes and the transformation is so much fun. By far one of my favorite jet formers ever, if not my actual favorite. I kind of want to get another one and customize it into a movie style Windblade.

 

DOTM is 9 years old? Dang, I remember flying to America to catch the midnight premier with some of my online friends. I had managed to avoid all spoilers, my flight had basically been delayed over 12 hours so by the time I turned up, I was pretty much dead on my feet. Went to the hotel room with me mate and we were chatting about movie ironhide (his favourite character) and he nonchalantly says "Its a shame he dies". I was that broken from the flight delays and detours, I just stared at him and threatened/very nearly did kick him out the room for telling me that.

But had a good rest and went to the midnight premier the following night and had a blast. We ended up going to watch it three times over the two weeks I was out there. Fond memories that are partly why it's my favourite of all the movies (yes, including bumblebee and 86 in that) but also, the Chicago battle feels like an absolute war, the soundtrack is outstanding (as it all is), it features NASA, and it give us one of my favourite characters of the entire franchise. Sentinel Prime. This specific version of Sentinel Prime. Who I will love and adore for as long as I watch movies.

And now we're getting these SS toys of DOTM too. Oh happy days! I keep thinking I should get SS Crowbar and TLK Beserker as Crankcase. But it would irk me too much until a Hatchet turns up too.

All that to say, Happy birthday DOTM!

 

Man, DOTM was such a weird toy line. It was simultaneously really good, while also being the weakest of the first three lines. A majority of my DOTM figures have been replaced.

 

I've always had this idea that the Dreads and Wreckers had this epic rivalry going. I *think* there's concept art of both of their protoform modes in a rally scene... but really it's mostly because they're two sets of trios introduced in the same film. But also the toy bios played up the Dread's as these stealthy saboteurs, while the Wreckers are anything but.




Kinda wish I had held onto those Legion Wreckers...

Just bought a ko thf02 Leadfoot. Not sure if that was a waste of money since the Studio Series is coming lol.

 

Yeah it’s a good set and I’d say worth it, although I think reprolabels increased their prices lately. Either that or I just feel like they’re more expensive now cause of the pandemic.

I’d say you’ll probably be OK. That’s a fun figure and the SS one could either be better or worse. Roadbuster is a million times better but topspin looks slightly worse so who knows.

 

Has anyone actually bought one? Theres T chance i i mig get the studio series before this thing reaches the states given how things have been

 

I've got it and the Dreamfactory versions. The THF one is a good 1:1 KO, feels solid. Only reason I have the Dreamfactory one on display over it is I have the other two DF bots.

 

Now we're talking! DOTM is my favorite Transformers movie, and quite possibly my favorite movie in general! (Also my first Transformers movie I saw in theaters)

I actually just yesterday finished painting Sentinel's robot mode, so now it's on to vehicle mode which hopefully won't take as long as robot mode did. In the meantime, though: Here's a glimpse at some early progress I've made on Roadbuster! It'll be a while till I finish painting it since I need to finish Sentinel first and find some metallic green paint, but here's what we have so far.

 

I had recent had an idea for a cool Studio Series Set. Since we're getting a weapons set with the Centurion Droid in Generations Selects, why not have a Studio Series version?

Because it’s not GEEWUN.

Jokes aside, I’d say this is perfect for characters with multiple releases and different weapons in each, like Screamer and Ratchet, to be able to get the opposite weapon; characters who already been released but don’t have all their weapons, like Ironhide’s DOTM guns and Sentinel’s shield and rust cannon; or those with missing weapons altogether like ROTF and DOTM Soundwave. But beyond that, I don’t know what they’d include other than Frenzy and Reedman. I guess Optimus’ other abs...

 

They kinda did with ss dotm prime. But a full set, with a frenzy and a bunch of stuff from different people would be pretty cool. Pack it with a wrecker since they love guns, or more realistically, a protoform generic, the way the selects one is with a centurion drone generic.

Speaking of DOTM, I hope we get Que soon. His old toy was good (if hard to find) but the head wasn't accurate at all.
