So clearly people have samples in hand... someone show the transformation already! I want to know if this figure is a miracle or a nightmare. :lol

Looks amazing! Really looking forward to this, especially since I handled my SS Grimlock for the first time in a while today and all his joints are loose now and his crotch piece was falling off even more than it used to.

There's actually an older expression which covers this somewhat, roughly phrased as "perfection is the enemy of greatness".

Basically if you continually strive for perfection than you're never going to be satisfied. You'll keep refining and refining, never quite reaching that impossible goal, but in the process you'll have missed plenty of options which were fantastic already in their own right. There's an infinitesimal chance you'll actually reach perfection, and the more you try the further away you'll wind up. Professional designers, including the "most companies" fallacy, are well aware of this pitfall and actually won't waste their time trying to make something perfect if it's already great, which this [Wrath] most certainly is.

Otherwise you wind up with Duke Nukem Forever.

I for one, do not strive for absolute perfection. If I wanted something to be perfect in my eyes, I eould just make it myself. I was just pointing out that this thing has been virtually the same for the last 3 years. I'd call it "greatness evolved".

So what these companies should do is just release the first rendition of any design no matter how good or bad they are in transformation, sculpt, or engineering? sounds like a terrible market to live in.

Absolutely not. A bad or flawed design is a bad or flawed design, no matter how you slice it, and persisting with such a thing when the opportunity exists to make corrections is just stupid. It's also against what I outlined, since it's clearly not "great" in any sense of the word, so I'm not sure where you reached that conclusion in the first place unless your intent was a Strawman argument.

That this looks, at least from a distance, to be identical to how it was a few years ago doesn't mean squat in terms of any refinement it may or may not have received. The initial design may well have worked out to be what they wanted (it's entirely possible with an experienced and talented enough designer), just as it's possible the only remaining element from that initial reveal is the shell with everything contained inside being completely different.

It's a damned shame about those shoulder "heads" in 'bot mode from the back. I mean, I get it - same for the insides of the tail, well, tails - but it's still a shame. Preference would also be that the "heads" sat a little lower and further out, such that the horns could be extended, but that's really splitting hairs at this point.

Gonna be a lot of hinges in this guy...

The back side of the heads is at least the bottom jaw. But agreed on the tail, i wonder if it can spin to show the other side instead of all those screws...not that i care, if i got this it would spend 90% of the time in beast mode.

Going by ony of the AOE Grimlock statues, I tgink I can tell what is off about the head from a frontal angle. The horns are supposed to curve in slightly at the end. The teech on the upper jaw are supposed to be angled inwards. The crests above the eyes were supposed to be angling inwards, instead of shooting straight.
