Welcome to my paper radicon thread. Here I will post some of my past projects and possibly some printable templates for you all to use. This post will probably be updated each time I finish a project (I’ve seen people do that before so I guess I’ll try it. The posts underneath will show past projects and in progress work (and of course everyone’s feedback!). “Who needs the All Spark when you have like 3 notecards and some tape”

Well that’s about it. Feedback is appreciated! Next notecardFormer is gonna be a simple one.

 

I would suggest making a skeleton to glue (dry glues to prevent warping) to stiffen up places. You could try cardboard also, but you need to hang the pieces on something with more mass to stiffen them up.

You really need to use a vector art program and get a cheap color printer. I used to do similar as a kid, but they never transformed. I did the spacebridge, and its car along with some bases.

Id like to see some Cybertronian forms...not many do those.

I agree about the printer. I have should have access to a printer soon; so when I do, the color schemes and details will be better. I have created the parts digitally as vectors already. The issue with floppiness isn’t really the skeleton as much as the joints because they are tape and sometimes cardstock. The main parts are notecards.

I am taking a break from the more detailed one, and will be doing some simple, smaller ones. Cybertronian forms are a cool suggestion and I will keep that in mind. I am also open to suggestions for characters for the first wave of printable ones that I upload, so those ideas are appreciated too.

 

Oh, you make the limbs and the car separately? I just do it all at once.

 

Most of my older ones are car and limbs together. Sideswipe was kinda an experiment. Ive got something new I'm getting ready to upload too. The reason I'm putting them separate is so they will be easier for other people to try when I eventually upload instructions.

I will release the blueprints to this one and 4 others in a day or so. Wave 1 of the paper MicroForce! Some modifications will be made like longer legs, and size increase (because it’s hard to tape them at this size)
As always feedback is appreciated and so are character suggestions.

 

So My new project here is coming along smoothly with 7 characters already done now in a similar style to Shotbrake (the post above this). I do have a question for anyone interested though. The arms and legs on Shotbrake are pretty much 2D. Should my new bots have 3D limbs? They transform pretty much exactly the same (some variation by character though). I’m tagging the people that have shown interest here:

..Incase any of you would like to weigh in. I just need to finish one more character and then I’ll upload the blueprints. Feedback is appre— uh, requested.   

 

Usually if anything is 2-D, it's either head or arms. Doing flat legs usually affects stability. I always aim for figures to stand up.

 

I took this into consideration and have decided that the legs will be 3D and the arms and face will be flat (for smoother transformation of course!). Now I just need to perfect the design for the hands and I will be ready to release Wave 1 and Wave 2 of the “Paper MicroForce!” I decided that I would like to post a rough teaser of what these blueprints will look like. Thankfully it didn’t take much thought to decide on which character to release...
The infamous “Knight Rider BECAMES ROBERT” who was brought to my attention by this thread: Minor/Repaint: - The Knight Sword of Becames Robert by @Scaleface (go check it out, BECAMES ROBERT got a cool sword out of the ordeal!)

Without further build up, here it is in all of its garish, skittle-colored, glory: BECAMES ROBERT!

So there you go. A rough version of what these blueprints will look like. Some title graphics will be changed and the layout on the paper might be rearranged to save space (and the background will be white to conserve ink). If you notice, to the right of BECAMES ROBERT’S glorious yellow T-Tops is a text box, which reads: “Transform Type 1.” This is pretty much useless right now but will mean a lot more when I post building instructions. Pretty much, it describes how the body of the car will transform (and occasionally some kibble). I’m not going to list out the Types right now because they are kinda spoilers to who will be in WAVE 1.

...as usually feedback is, well you know the drill.

 

The templates keep your humour. Very nice, I need a Robert.

 

Very cool. I wonder if he can hold the Shapeways sword?

I almost forgot to include his sword!! When I upload the final version he’ll get a paper one to hold.
...huge plastic sword? Probably not.

WAVE 1 is complete and ready to upload on July 4!
The reason I am not uploading yet is because I still need to make instructions for it. BECAMES ROBERT will be re-released with his sword for WAVE 4. Currently 8 WAVES have been planned with 3 of them almost complete.

 

I think either arm would be good

PaperForce
WAVE 01
Here it is. Finally. Wave 01 is here, featuring some G1 season 1 fan favorites: Sideswipe, Jazz, Wheeljack, and (not the IDW version) Prowl! Also I changed the name from Paper MicroForce to PaperForce because I decided to make them bigger, thus easier to assemble.

I will be posting instructions in the next few days that explain the how to assemble each different TR (transformation) Type. For example: prowl and jazz are both TR Type 2 so they are assembled and transform the same way. Wave 02 also happens to be done so I will go ahead and post it too!

PaperForce
WAVE 02
Wave two features some more familiar Autobots but from later seasons: Hot Rod, Nightbeat, Chromedome, and Getaway. I also realized they are all character from MTMTE as well. These characters are based mostly off of their G1 appearance but also slightly altered. Nightbeat was altered to transform into a car model based on the Firebird from the Rockford files. Getaway is a mix between G1 and Titans Return Breakaway.
