Doesn't seem much to transformation.

 

They should've honestly just started with a movie-accurate satellite mode and worked backwards from that to make a shitty but passable robot mode. He never transformed in ROTF so there's no reason to compromise so much to give him a DOTM-is robot mode.

 

Is there any Transformer that turns into something cylindrical, like a can of soda? To kitbash into a better ROTF Soundwave, I mean.

 

Soundwave looks decent, obviously a downgrade from the original ROTF figure but I can still see him working given some added silver and blue paint
Topspin looks nice in alt mode (no surprise there) but the robot mode looks weirdly squat, especially given he seemed to be the lankiest of the wreckers
Cliffjumper looks nice, that Jeep Bee engineering works really well. I know we'll get a cybertronian Bee out of this mold, but part of me hopes we also get a reworked beetle Bee out of it as well

 

Literally the one movie design that shouldn't be contaminating any toyline. This Soundwave is THE designated shelfwarmer here.

Cliffjumper's cool, tho.

 

Personally, Soundwave is not doing it for me. Probably going to get Cliffjumper, I know he’s a retool, but I like him more than the Earthrise one. Topspin is the only one who I’m truly on the fence for, as it really seems he is suffering from mistransformation and horrible pictures.

 

I don't get why they didn't retool the 2009 toy to make it more accurate/better hands, instead of trying to retool Mercedes-wave into the satellite. Seems like a lot more work for a worse result.

 

Hah but they were trying to reuse as much as they could from the Dotm figure

It seems like Soundwave’s movie accurate back head piece has been removed since they showed him off at toy fair

 

since takara has these planned for late september (in japan),to what timeframe are the hasbro versions planned?

different webshops give different results. hasbro pulse has topsin for october,but tfscourse has it for august.

 

Mine are listed as an August release.

 

They did it cause it is cheaper this way. Change the minimum amount of parts off DOTM to get him into a satellite mode

 

I still have absolutely no idea what all the specs of paint on Soundwave's torso are supposed to be.

 

either some leftovers from the siege battle damage but more shitty or some weird spots of cybertronian symbolism.

either way it doesn't look flashy that's for sure.

 

It's his leopard-print "sexy time" outfit for when he wants to get in on that hot satellite-on-satellite action.

 

I'm really hoping we get even more Bumblebee Cybertron figures, I'd kill for a Starscream or Soundwave

This design with the Soundwave head that we got would be pretty cool though. Don't think I'd enjoy Soundwave turning into a generic Chevy though, by the looks of that grille
