I thought that Siege Hound\'s vehicle was actually pretty good. It felt more like a ground-up Cybertronian light utility vehicle, rather than something like Sideswipe, which was basically a royalty-free Lambo with an all-over canopy.

As a toy the bits Optimus shares can get weird, but thematically, I love it. My only nitpick is lacking a butterfly joint (not sure if that could even happen).
My only problem is no Roller. It's the only bit I distinctly remember loving on my G2 version, that isn't here. God help me, I'm tempted by that official set when I got two 3p versions.

Finally had a chance to listen to the whole episode.

I agree with all the points you guys brought up regarding the '86 Studio Series listings. As I stated in various posts on the boards here, I'm fine with SS branching out into different movies and including non-live action movie characters I just don't want it to jeopardize the ability for movie fans to get our definitive versions of the characters we want. Once SS hits most of the main cast of the live action movies I'm okay with it branching out and encompassing other characters from multiple shows like Unicron trilogy, Animated, Prime, etc.

I think the worst outcome is if the jump to '86 characters happens too soon and runs simultaneously with things like Earthrise where it's just a wall of G1 everywhere you look. I understand it's where the Hasbro team is focusing and I get that it sells well, but at some point, aren't customers (even people outside of the direct fandom and just collect this stuff casually) going to get fatigued of seeing the G1 designs all over the toy shelves?

It'll be interesting to see how these listings get unveiled offically and how the Hasbro reps will choose to describe the shift.

So as someone who is kinda in the camp of "man that's a whole lot of G1" I gotta say the Seth line of "there's nothing wrong with backing off for a bit" is really good advice. If the topic from a few weeks back was any reminder, there's a LOT of transforming robots going on that aren't Transformers. I guess if anyone is feeling the same you might want to explore a bit, or take this time to play catch-up on lines you've passed up on. To Vangelus' point- it's not unprecedented and probably won't last too long, but there's a ton of other things out there if it's not exactly your jam.

If the studio series moved into works done by animations studios. I’d be all in on TF Animated and the Unicron Trilogy. Would likely grab a bunch of TFP stuff as well

I wouldn’t mind studio series doing some of the off screen bots as well. I’d love to see how they’d redo RotF Mindwipe and Bludgeon

Guys what if the Generations line is going to be Beast Wars themed next year for the 25th anniversary of that show and the Studio Series basically becomes season 3 G1 line to keep that line alive until a new movie is released? That way you don't have to take G1 off shelves and still do a proper Beast Wars line and John Warden did say that he would have something ready for the Beast Wars 25th.

Does anyone have a link to the Earthrise prime parts Twitter thread mentioned at the beginning?

The Animated and Prime premiers are considered movies, and Prime just straight up has a movie. I'd be down for that. I'm really curious what modern Animated and Prime toys would even look like. The engineering has changed so much since both of those.

I think the closest that the Generations line acknowledged the S in it's name currently is with Impactor and Rung...other than that, yeah it's just Generation at this point.

Regarding Studio Series doing G1, would your opinions be any different if they did the figures mixed realistic/cartoon look? Like the CGI of Optimus & Megatron that starts at the 15 second mark:

It doesn’t do anything for me, but even though the Bumblebee came closer to G1 models, I know some would just like models like this video.

“Twingineering” is the term you’re looking for instead of “shared skeleton”. Just sayin’
