Cliffjumper looks like he reuses a lot of parts from Offroad Bumblebee, and may very well have a similar transformation scheme. Imma pick him up anyway.

 

Cliff I don’t see as anything special or that I need for my collection, and the original wrecker figures are decent enough for me

 

Dammit! I'm trying to quit the Studio Series but I want this entire wave. I never want the entire wave. There goes another $60. I'm trying to slow my spending.

The original Soundwave is a million times better but I still want this one too. This one looks like Cyberverse & the original looks like Studio Series.

 

Be wary of Topspin’s guns. Looks like the claws are the same plastic too.

 

Can someone convince me that this Soundwave is not in every way inferior to the original DoTM release?

Okay, I\'ll gladly keep my ROTF Soundwave to save on money. 
Topspin\'s proportions looks off to me while Cliffjumper is just boring... and his face creeps me out 

 

I wonder if Soundwave should have incorporated the satellite he took over as a part of his alternative mode? He spent most of his screen time glued to that thing, even if it wasn't technically part of him, and it would be a defined focus for the form to avoid the yoga inspired cybertronian form we have here.

 

Soundwave needs to be silver and have more blues in his robot mode or something. Hard pass, but that backdrop is really awesome.

 

I'm not sure the goal is to be "superior." More just to be an option to anyone who didn't get a satellite Soundwave when they were on shelves 10 years ago.

 

So all Soundwave does to transform is put his legs behind his head?

I get trying to please Megatron, but really?

 

I’m down with them. I like how the new Soundwave looks. Since we never saw him in robot mode in ROTF, I appreciate that they brought over design elements from the DOTM robot mode. The ROTF figure doesn't look anything like him. Plus, its not like it doesn't have car bits on it already (the lights and grill are there). While I do wish the new transformation seemed a bit more complex, I think it'll be fine. He'll be better than the fiddly ROTF figure and a more consistent robot more for sure. EDIT: I busted my old ROTF Soundwave out of storage and man, this figure does not hold up. His transformation is also SUPER easy. Fold legs in. Stuff hands in arm pits. Hide robot more head behind panel for an un-posable satellite head on the other side...yeah, I think the new one is better.

Top Spin is poorly posed, with his knees overly bent and his arms over extended. The shoulders also look like they might be drooping a bit too so perhaps mistransformed. And he's missing paint but I suspect this is just a prototype that didn't get the full paint job. We've been seeing this more and more with these promotional photos. But its the same mold we saw at Toy Fair and that was great. I'm still excited for him.

Cliff is clearly the best, but that backpack though.
Soundwave is plain and the saltelite mode is lacking to me.
And Topspin, man, what did they do to you.

 

Yup, really simplistic transformation. Spin waist around, put legs behind back and flip out solar panels. Flip out cylinders from inside chest in front of shoulders. Flip out solar panels on the arms, which flips in the hands. Done.

 

I cannot wait to get my hands on that Cliffjumper. From the moment he was announced, I wanted to use him for a Megaman custom.

 

What is with the crap paint apps on soundwave? Looks like he has a swarm of bugs on him.
