This is exactly what I've been waiting for. Take my money Hasbro! This have the potential to be great representations of these bots. Only way it could be better is if they had a vehicle packed in (high price obviously).

The transforming gimmick has always been what held Transformers figures back from looking right and having the posibility I want. I know most collectors want the transforming variety and we've gotten that for decades. We will continue to get that. If this isn't your thing then just transform and roll out. Buy the other stuff. Every product isn't made for every collector.

I know it'll never happen, but I would love figures of the Masterforce Pretenders in their "shell" form, especially Metalhawk.

I might get the Cheetor if it looks like the cartoon model, but only if the rumored WFC Cheetor looks bad or has a weird design. I'm not really concerned about animation accuracy when it comes to the G1 stuff, because I know that 2D designs never translate well into 3D physical form. BW was a 3D design from the start, so I really do prefer the toys look like the show. I just don't care enough to drop $100-300 for the MPs.

Mind you, I was a huge fan of the BW toys, so I'd be just delighted if the WFC Cheetor looked like the toy and this was based on the animation model. Best of both worlds. I'd double dip the whole cast if they went that way. (All three seasons.)

The attraction for me is this...

    • Sunbow accuracy.
    • Masterpiece-like accessories.
    • $20 a character is far cheaper than Masterpiece's $140-400 a character.
    • Great for fans who don't transform their Masterpieces.
    • A few waves a year than 2-4 Masterpieces a year.
    • Potentially we could get whole teams or even combined forms, something that Masterpiece hasn't done yet.
    • No loose pieces, flaps or kibble.

Hopefully, these will be in scale. If everyone is the same size as Optimus and Megs, then I'll pass.

That would be pretty neat, Especially if they also function as actual pretender shells. All they need is to have a compartment to store a mini-figure. Like, what is the size of the inner robots anyway?

Ooooh, show accurate scale would be very important. Though i wonder if they will put some sort of Build-A-Figure format for larger characters like the Dinobots for example.

Also. A smaller scale take on R.E.D would be kinda great for smaller characters.

Don't think this kind of comparison is a bit dishonest? It's apples and oranges. Sure, you get "more" from the fact that it transforms but you pretty much always lose articulation, not to mention scale of the vehicle modes or the fact that you have to sacrifice aesthetics. The Voyager class Transformers I have are mostly around 7" and they cost $30. These products just don't lend to simple comparisons like that.

I think that's the key right there. They need to do them like Marvel Legends and try to have them scale to each other. If you are going to do that with any Transformers line it would be this one. If Bumblebee comes out as a 6" figure then this line will die.

Same as their other action figures this size. Just using the budget elsewhere.

Oh, very interesting that they're picking from different generations. Now I'm intrigued to see what wlse they do. Prime Arcee and Cheetor are good picks, still though, I'm more interested in transforming Transformers. Armada Prime and Megs would be cool though... wait I just had an amazing thought: this could be how they get around the characters from the Cybertron scenes in Bumblebee not having alt-modes. If they use this line to make a bunch of those characters from Bumblebee, I will buy them ALL! Your move Hasbro. Lol. I'd still prefer SS figs with made up alt modes but I'll take what I can get!

If that the case, Bumblebee would basically come with more accessories to make up for his smaller size. Maybe include a toy-accurate head?

I love we are coming back around to action masters. This was when tween Dr Traveler skipped out on the Transformer toys for nearly two decades.

Of course I can’t knock this too much. I did buy the Flame Toys IDW Megatron so I get the appeal.

That would be something. Like, accurate robot modes for prime figures would be kinda amazing, especially when they get to include accessories based on the show.
