    I expect the most popular characters from the first 2 years and I am okay, if the line is finished after that. I don`t expect the next CHUG or MP thing.

    But hey, they're show accurate! That's a selling point, riiight? The 80's Show Nostalgialists would totally be into all this and they could finally get to recreate their favorite scenes!

    Yeah.

    I feel like this is a lot of malarkey too, it's almost like history is destined to repeat itself.

    Man I hope they use this line for BAF. Let’s get some of those Pretender Monsters/Beast done as Build a Fugures

    And they can do the inner robots under generations, make them micromaster class and you can pair them up with some bigger/bulkier RED BAF Pretender(shell homages)

    Feels they sort of haven't been keeping track of just how good the non-transforming transformers have gotten. This reminds me of Robot Replicas back in 2007. They were using revoltech joints, but didn't quite take it far enough.

    ...

    In all honesty, I think there's G1, there's Bay, and everything else (including stuff I love) is basically the equivalent of some Elseworlds miniseries where Batman is a Viking and that, by analogy, this fandom is basically insisting on entire lines devoted to stuff like Batman: Thrillkiller or JSA: Liberty Files.

    Transformers:Batman::G1:Batman comics 1939-Present with multiple sub-eras including the New 52 by way of retcon.

    Transformers:Batman::IDW:Scott Snyder's New 52 Batman

    Transformers:Batman::Michael Bay's Transformers::The Combined Batman Films of Christopher Nolan and Snyder

    Transformers:Batman::Beast Wars:Michael Keaton's Batman

    Transformers:Batman::JG1:The 90s Batman comics of Chuck Dixon and his cohorts.

    Transformers:Batman::Transformers The Movie and Season 3:Batman The Animated Series and New Adventures

    Transformers:Batman::Animated:Batman:Brave and the Bold

    There is room for more of this stuff but by comparison entire toy companies have tanked themselves focusing on one Batman storyline aside from more or less the original and tenuously retconned together ongoing one.

    I dont understand the logic behind this, why would you pay $20 for a non transforming figure that doesnt look like they have great articulation when you can get a wfc figure that transforms and has great articulation, plus its g1 theres alot of g1 stuff that transforms and has great articulation

    Not just me. Even Hasbro's own employees. I knew someone who worked for Hasbro during that time who now works at another major toy company. Hasbro was desperate to recapture the magic of 1984 with Transformers and GI Joe, and were trying to ANYTHING that would attract kids, and none of them stuck. That's why they are all one season for the cartoon and very short waves of toys. Thematically, Unicron Trilogy is "one story" but the gimmicks and designs are VERY different between the lines. Many of the Hasbro brass thought Transformers was dead as a brand. They were hoping the movie deal with Paramount would produce a mild cross-promotional merchandise bump for Transformers... similar to what ToyBiz got with X-Men and Spider-Man movies. The success of the live movies and the rekindled passion for the brand is more than they ever imagined in 2003. In fact, even when the movie was being developed, it was expected to be a mediocre film, until they were able to get Steven Spielberg involved in 2004. His name brought a lot of "street cred" to the brand and the $$$$ came flying in for the project, and everyone involved with the production agreed 1984 G1 was the place to start with the live movies.

    So... sorry, but there was a "dark ages" for Transformers as a brand. It's not a "geewunner" thing. I fully understand people who grew up with the Unicron Trilogy as their first exposure to transformers. That's how "Geewunners" felt in the early 2000's when our Prime was turned into a fat voltron clone. Unfortuately, Hasbro is doing it's best to forget those lines ever happened, with the exception of a few designs. (Cybertron's Prime in Siege and Generations HotShot for example)

    I don't get the articulation concern.

    Head is on a balljoint.
    Arms are on a swivel.
    Extra rotation at the shoulder.
    Bicep rotation.
    Double jointed elbow allows for more than 90 degrees of bend
    Wrist rotation.
    Ab crunch. (Looks replaced on Optimus with trap doors for the Matrix.)
    Waist rotation.
    Hip rotation.
    Hips are on a hinge.
    Thigh swivel.
    Double joint at the knee allows for around 120 degrees.
    Rotating ankles that allow for some degree of tilt.

    That's 27 points.

    That's more than McFarlane Toys and a bit less than the most articulated Spider-man. Hip skirts may block some seated/squat poses or maybe the hips drop down like the new Spider-man which means 29 points of articulation.

    Huh. Well, I have to go against type here. I had a few Action Masters from way back when they were current too. Not what I wanted but it was nice to see some familiar faces.

    I think these are a _much_ better pitch than either the expensive overgreebled "staction figures" that 3rd parties have done or previous "green army men" junk lines from Hasbro (Titanium, Heroclix, Robot Heroes, Unleashed, Heroes of Cybertron, etc).

    Assuming these are painted competently (and, of course, actually distributed), I could see picking up a handful. But only a handful and only specific characters. Like Wheeljack or Starscream or Cliffjumper or Onslaught. I can already hear the people that hate G1 groaning. I can't help that pre-TFTM _is_ TransFormers to me.

    So what I don't see is a particularly long shelf life for such a line. I expect about a dozen total, with some of those siphoned off to appease Bayformer fans or something. And, really, Starscream is the only Hasbro-approved A-lister on my list, so my own participation would be spotty.

    Weren't you one of the people freaking out that HasLab Unicron was setting a precedent and that all Transformers would be $600 monstrosities from thereon out?

    Get a grip.

    If non-Transforming articulated figures really did catch on, would that not prove their legitimacy?

    Doubtful. There will always be fans who are for puzzles. These are for the people who want something to put on a shelf and/or to play with as an action figure, without having to babysit a joint, or worry that a pin will get loose. It'd be like looking at a HotToys of Spiderman then question why someone would want a Marvel Legend.

    Yes, I got it. I pissed in people's Cheerios. (Although comparing this to Hot Toys VS Marvel Legends isn't exactly a fair comparison, nor what I was doing. Others might've been, but not me.)
