It's interesting that you would say that, as the reason I said cherry-picking is because that image is in no way representative of how the film actually looks. The colours on the Blu-ray are nowhere near as blue; they're much darker overall. Those sky blue parts are 'lilac' at best and Scourge is only shown once in robot mode in the movie. In season three and on the animation model, those parts are grey. They were only ever consistently light blue in the Headmasters series.

As for 'toon accuracy' being ridiculous, that's subjective. A lot of people think it's useless because of the various animation errors littered throughout the series, but that misses the point. Each and every character has an animation model, which is what figures should be based on. Going by that, the colours on this have always been wrong and the re-release deviates even further (with the chrome etc).

 

See the point though? I didnt even think about the various DVD/version shades. We are talking each and every time about how should they be and each one of us is basing it out at some concept: Either that been how its on that scene, on the concept art, or how it should be realistically be and so on. The answer is...well there is no answer really. For each one of us Mp means a different thing. So as weird as it may sound....there is no 'mistake'.

 

The G1 toy also has grey on the thighs.


It seems that XTB is doing here what they did with their v2 Aegis "toon" version; they are referencing an unused animation model color that was never actually used in the cartoon.

 

Just like with their Aegis redeco, XTB makin me pass on a character I need and love due to the colours being *cray-zee*

 

The darker colors don't bother me in the slightest, so I pre-ordered the Swarm from BBTS. Those accessories are just too good to pass up!

One thing that left me scratching my head is that one Andras is $160, but three of them with a treasure chest of cool extras are $400? 160 x 3 = $480.

Eh just FT logic. Shiny paint=you’ll buy anything. While it looks good, it’s not $160 cool.

 

If you buy the Swarm, it's $134 cool with great extras. Can't wait!

 

Just been looking for toon images and can't for the life of me get the new aesthetic to match any image I can find. The original deco I can kinda marry up an image or two...i don't get it  

I want to want this, I really do, but something tells me I might marmite this deco and I'm not sure I want to take the punt. I'd happily buy the older deco comparatively  

 

They seem to be going for this but completely misinterpreted the grey thighs for super shiny silver, and made the blue a smidge too dark. Even the grey is closer to a navy blue/bluish grey in some shots:


I can probably get over the blue, but the silver is just an odd choice. If they simply HAD to go the metallic route then a metallic grey would've been a much closer match to his screen colours than the silver they've opted for.

Scourge in that first picture looks good to me. More greys and less blues.

 

On a side note has any tried getting Andras to hold MP Artfires Targetmaster? If he can, that might change what I end up purchasing

 

See, I always pictured him as blue, but he definitely looks purple in the majority of those images  

 

I thought surely Virtus would have been my first Xtransbot figure, looks like it will be Andras

Any reason why he doesn't have red eyes like the cartoon it does say "Cartoon Version"

 

Cause of the light up feature, I think I’m just gonna paint then if I can access it easy enough

 

I've done that with my three TW/Zeta combiners. I want red eyes all the time goddamn it!

 

They light up red when you activate the LED feature.
On my original Andreas I painted the eyes red with a Sharpie marker and I put a piece of aluminum foil in the head to focus the light through the painted eyes as shown in Vangelus video (I posted the video in this thread once or twice).
I remember some folks lucked out and received their Andras with batteries already included and installed.
