Looking at both Godbomber and Machine Wars Optimus here I can see while the red on the Godbomber parts would fit in well the blue wouldn't be as consistent but maybe it can I dunno.

 

You could use the black armour potentially.

The masked face looks strangely grainy. But this is sorely tempting overall. I just wish their Minerva would ship so I can see if Fans Hobby is worth investing $200.

 

What you're looking at is a 3D printed version of the masked face and hand painted.

 

I gotta say, I didn't feel like I needed another of the Power Baser mold. Managed to avoid buying the black one, and the Shattered Glass one, and the Thunderclash repaint.

But Machine Wars Optimus? Yeah, I think I have to go preorder this now.

 

I have the Thunderclash, and it's pretty nice. I actually have Machine Wars Optimus. It's kind of tough skipping this one, but I'm already planning on getting all of the Armada stuff they're doing. So I can't buy everything. lol

 

Machine Wars Starscream next PLEASE!!!

 

I love it when Machine Wars gets some love. As a strange, obscure franchise, it doesn't see much attention. Apparently the BotCon set themed around it didn't sell well at all, which is a shame. It was a pretty nice set.

 

The colors so far look sweet.   Really can't wait for him to be released.

 

Oh god, I like this FAR more than I should. The colors, the excess, the not Optimus. Especially with my head-canon of him.

 

FansHobby's reuse of moulds is making MMC look like a reasonable 3rd party provider. LOL.

Next: we'll see an Arcee from this mould. Fat Arcee.

 

Machine Wars is so criminally unrepresented I may buy this simply to support anything tied to it.

Hate to say I don't really dig the combined mode, but I do like the core robot and the vehicle mode quite a bit.

Well that set kinda didn’t do enough of the actual Machine Wars. I mean, I like Strika and Obsidian, but I wanted olive fragrant Optimus Prime.

 

BTW, if anyone has an actual Machine Wars Optimus they want to sell PM me. Doesn't have to be 100% complete, but I'd prefer if the stickers on his chest/roof and the sides of the trailer are present and intact, and the flap for the back of the trailer is included.

 

Well let's be honest, the original Machine Wars line was a hot mess cash grab. Some great molds, but started the trend of any colors and name on any figure which is bad. That's likely why it has little appeal to this day.

Here they took what was a beautiful color scheme for Machine Wars Optimus, and tweaked it so that it works as Optimus. All it took really was a mouthplate and a purple to blue transition - Hasbro should take notes. For very cheap you make something go all the way.

I don't have this mold as I love my Legends Ginrai so I'm buying this. My first experience with them and if it is good I will likely try to pick up the Laser Rod Optimus with trailer.

I really hope they make some of the matchups for these as there is amazing potential to be had in a Skyquake/MW Starscream and a G2 Tank Megatron. Tweak them to have more in character touches like they did here. I love their style overall. Maybe even do a MW Soundwave & Sandstorm. These are areas no one has touched and are open to some really fun exploration with some thought and care.
