I really miss this game so damn much. It's one of my favourite games of all time, that's how much I love this game. I love this game 3000

WfC and FoC remain some of my favorite games of all time and is by far my favorite interpretation of the Transformers characters and story. Honestly, WfC brought me back to the franchise. It's depressing that we never got a proper 3rd game, instead a half-baked movie tie-in using existing assets. It's sadder still that we have not seen it's kind since. Devastation was alright but can't hold a candle to what came before. I'm not terribly hopeful that Certain Affinity's game will live up to the WfC legacy , especially given it's supposedly a miltiplayer game cashing in on modern trends rather than a proper single player story driven game but as long as it's at least as fun as FoC's multiplayer was, it'll at least be something. Maybe someday we'll get AAA Transformers games again...

Wow, 10 years already? I have some fond memories of that game and of the figures for it. I remember going home from work, picking the game up and playing it for hours on end.
This really made me smile today.

Wish they would get the rights back and release this and Fall of cybertron for the switch. Would also like Devastation.

As good as the game was, the gameplay wasn\'t \"unprecedented\" or really that \"novel\" either.  In terms of \"gameplay mechanics\", very little changed for the player, nor did it distinguish itself from existing games of the same time.  Vehicle modes, for the most part, simply have alternate weapons and dash/sprint ability, while a flight mode gave the ability to fly; all abilities found, more or less, in other games, just without the transformation animations.  Indeed, High Moon (I think) stated that it was their intention to pour the Transformers into existing gameplay mechanics first (giving a good gameplay experience), rather than trying to force gameplay into the Transformers narrative.  That\'s why all the vehicle modes have a \"hover mode\" (and a  jump\" action), allowing \"vehicles\" to strafe and jump just like a character would do.  This strafe mode, arguably, added to the TF mythos and (again arguably) furthered the notion of how TF\'s view the distinctions between alt and robot modes.  In some ways, they retconned the \"gerwalk\" mode (from Macross) into TF lore.

However, online play was another matter; hardly anyone played it and it felt like a weak-sauce add-on.  The lack of host-migration in War For Cybertron was one of the main reasons online PVP died quickly after launch.  PVE also suffered from server connectivity issues to, to the extent that I didn\'t use it on my own playthrough, for fear of it crashing the game.

The numerous (online related) bugs were a real problem for me, and many others, I believe.

However, overall, both (or all three, if you include the non-canon film/WFC hybrid game by another studio, using HM\'s assets) games offered solid gameplay and the closest thing to a \"G1 film\" for fans until the intro to the latest \"Bumblebee\" film (which seems to have been heavily influenced by the High Moon games and trailers, IMO).  None of the games could really complete with their contemporary games of that time (Gears of War, GTA, etc) but they were solid games nonetheless.

This game was one of the reasons I never got rid of my xbox 360. Don\'t understand why FoC got a port on Xbox One, yet this one didn\'t, let alone not even backwards compatable despite being a pretty popular game and seemed to do well in sales.

Happy birthday to the greatest Transformers game to date.
I still occasionally replay WFC. It's so good, and I'd say it's aged pretty well. Loads of fun!

This game had such an intense impact that a Third Party company devoted their entire output to tackling the character designs until they had virtually exhausted all of the heavy hitters... including giant base-formers (Planet X). It's too bad the game didn't spawn numerous sequels in a similar style and with new designs that could be action figures, but alas.

I'll make a confession. I own the game, but never played it. However, I enjoyed watching my daughter play and of course enjoyed buying the PX figures during the time that they were being produced in earnest.

we need a 4k remaster of both games badly. there is still nothing as fast paced in the shooter market.

if that were to happen, top demands would be reliable servers (these were awful when the games were even new), performance 60fps modes, and ability to setup multiplayer in either game with classic (wfc) killstreak cycling.

yeah I know shit was broken but foc multiplayer was boring and bland without it. I know I sound like a broken record but it was the worst decision ever to try to balance the multiplayer by removing it.

they could have just buffed all characters abilities so everyone was broken and it would have still been fun. because of that, wfc is forever the better game and I hope I get to play it again in full glory one day.

if any of my old PC rivals are still around, thanks for the great memories and fun times!

Man, too bad I played the online mode of this game too late it was the most chaotic fun I had ever had with a game ever since TF2 and I doubt that the new incoming game of transformers wouldn\'t even reach the levels of expectation from everyone (and also that new transformers game is brought by the people behind the \"masterpiece\" race with Ryan)

They were great games, and I have fond memories of Escalation. If someone had told me that 10 years later Hasbro would be too short-sighted to make new AAA Transformers titles, I would have believed them.

Great game, I remember being really excited when it came out (and I was 31 at the time). Never re-played through it, but the sequel was even better.

I think WFC still has the best depiction of Cybertron itself in any TF media.

I like putting this and FOC back to back.

It was a fun addition for exploring the downfall and exile from Cybertron.
