Hey guys, I created a Chrome / Firefox / Safari / Edge Extension for viewing TFW2005 thread images. When you are visiting a TFW2005 thread (like this one), you can just click the extension button, enter your filter criteria, and click the view button. The extension will then navigate through all the pages of the thread, gathering all images, and then it opens up a new page showing them all in one big list.

    imageviewer2.png

From the results image list, you can click to navigate directly to the image, thread page, post, or member profile.

    imageviewer6.png

If the process is taking too long, you can abort mid-run, and it will display what images it has found so far.

    imageviewer4.png

You can filter the images by member and page range, and you can display the results in reverse order to see the most recent results first. The extension works with all threads from all forums. The extension should display all images from all posts in the current thread, regardless if they were uploaded to TFW2005 or linked to an external site. Each image will only be shown once, so you won't see an image repeated over and over if it was repeatedly quoted.

So if you want to find all the images uploaded to the Magic Square Soundwave thread, by @Megawillbot, you can!

    imageviewer5.png

I posted about it here in 3rd party because it is not officially supported by TFW2005. I just wrote it because I am tired of endlessly searching page after page for a specific image.

    Compatibility:

    Desktop Computers
The extension currently supports Chrome, Firefox, and Edge; on Windows, Mac OS, and Chrome OS. Safari on Mac OS is not currently available because I didn’t renew my Apple developer license for 2023.

    Mobile Devices
The extension currently supports Kiwi on Android. Chrome for Android does not yet support browser extensions. Safari on iOS (iPhone + iPad) is not currently available because I didn’t renew my Apple developer license for 2023.

    This is seriously amazing!

Not to sound ungrateful though, but I would love it if you could get it to work on Android Chrome. I know you said it might be possible so I'm letting you know that I'd be interested if you got it to work :)

Firefox version is now available. I also updated the Chrome version, fixing a few bugs. If you installed it already, you probably want to update.

I'm on a Chrome OS Pixelbook and get the following error:

    Failed to load extension
    File~/MyFiles/Downloads/TFW2005ImageViewer
ErrorCould not load icon 'icon48.png' specified in 'icons'.
    Could not load manifest.

I know you say it only works for Windows and Mac, but not sure why it wouldn't work here...

Thanks for putting this together. I've always been hoping for a way to view the images from a thread, without going through every page to look. This is awesome!

    It's awesome.
Any way to leave their sponsor links at the top of the page? It uses their bandwidth without serving ads.

It may be due to the fact that the extension is currently set to use dev mode. (My daughter has a chrome book, I’ll do some testing on it.) I paid for a Chrome dev account today so that I can publish this directly in the chrome store (and Firefox store). Don’t worry, the extension will stay free. Once it is on Chrome’s extension store, it will hopefully work for you. I’ll also be able to push updates whenever I want, which will be really nice. Stay tuned...

I think this is a good idea. I’ll get it added to the todo list.

In addition to getting these extensions properly published, I’ll be adding support for Toyark.com and Hisstank.com next. Afterwards, I’ll be adding support for he-man.org, thetechnodrome.com, and the thefwoosh.com.

If there are any other sites you would like this to support, just let me know.

Does this work for mobile devices? Or only PCs?

Finally got around to installing this on my laptop and it's incredible. Really useful for scanning through photos, especially when you're trying to find something specific in a thread.

Thanks so much Creedog for creating this! A mobile version would be pretty sweet but I'm really happy with this desktop version for right now. :D

it won’t work on iOS browsers. They don’t support browser extension. :( . It may or not work on Android Chrome, I don’t have a device to test. It will have an even better chance of working on an Android device once the extension is properly signed and uploaded to the chrome extension store.

I could easily build this directly into the TFW2005 forums so that it could be used on any device/any browser, without any extension needed. But the TFW2005 staff would have to give me access to their web server, which probably isn’t going to ever happen.

    Fellow dev here!

In case anyone else (like me) was skeptical about installing the extension, I read through the code and there is nothing malicious.

    Looks sharp!

    Good job @Creedog !
