i found the TOYNAMI LEGIOSS AFC-01H at a comics/collectables' shop on sale for $60 back around 2004, and i couldn't resist. for the longest time, MOSPEADA mecha were my favorites, -right behind the VF-1 of MACROSS- and i was just ecstatic to finally have a variable LEGIOSS. Ecstatic, that is, until the stupid soft PVC hands sheared apart...
It's one of the figures I'm most looking forward to this year, so I hope so. I've never owned any of Sentinel's stuff, so I'm not sure what they're quality is like, but for the asking price, it should at least be able to be handled a bit without falling apart. I've been wanting a good looking and highly posable Legioss; I have an old Toynami Legioss , and, well, it looks nice but I dare not touch it. I'm hoping the Sentinel will be more forgiving. It looks gorgeous, and the hip articulation is superior to any other version that I'm aware of. AFAIK, it's the only version where the pilot's seat slides into the chest cavity in soldier mode. Neat feature.
Between the Legioss and tons of Transformers I ordered, this is going to be a really expensive month... Anyway, another big hole in my collection is going to be filled soon, I can't wait to have the figure in my hands.
Final production piece photos ya'll. And box pics. We are almost there. 『RIOBOT 1/48 AFC-01H レギオス・エータ 2020年6月20日(土)発売!』
Only a few episodes left to wrap up The New Generation with my boy and I think he’s more excited for the Legioss than I am. From the first episode of TNG he’s been saying how much cooler it is than the Veritechs.
Looks awesome, looks like it has diecast in the right places. However...T-REX put spring pins into the knee joints and shoulder hinges...if they were all metal I wouldn't worry but the spring pins for the knees go through an outer casing made of plastic... Hopefully those hinges don't crack the plastic parts off over time. Without question the sculpt alone makes this the best modern Legioss toy. The functional cockpit in Armo Soldier mode is a 1st and the Armo Fighter mode even has the anhedral from the intro. I'm very tempted but will wait for reviews. I already got burned twice on modern Legioss toys.
I think on the prototype the spring pins on the shoulders are diecast parts. The sping pins on the knees should be fine as long as the plastic hosing is thick enough and not made of whatever the hell Arcadia make the VF-0 wrists out of. I'm very curious if the hips are all plastic because those have some large spring pins in them too. I'm also wondering if most of the blue or white is painted. I think some of the blue is just molded in plastic, but I'll see what it's like in person. I'm also digging that there's a solid amount of clearance between the landing gear and underside of the fighter mode.
I was just coming to post this news as well! And look, they changed the forearms to bend the "right" way! (Or at least finally showed it off). That was my one complaint, and now that's been addressed!
If Sentinel/T-REX make a 1/48 Tread to combine with their Legioss, that big bastard is going to look awesome going by how the Legioss turned out. Please be sturdy and built to last for decades to come!
