I think the replacement base is because the head/neck on the WJ figure is attached by a capped pin rather than the screw on the MPM/LT, so it's easier for most people to replace the whole thing than risk damaging the part.

There is one small difference to the base:

It's possible this may allow the chest windows to sit lower and/or more narrow.

Wow. Who would have thought a new head would also fix the chest gap? Well done.

 

Looks like it might be a little farther forward too. That might make posability better (when looking down) and make the chest look less out-of-place.

 

Not cheap though, the price of this head is almost similar to BMB Ironhide

 

Was just talking to dino_model_shop and they said the head (the one picture on the previous page) they are selling will require some small cuts to be made to the plastic of the original figure to allow for chest adjustment. Or you can just install the new head and base as you wish and that will work too. Apparently instructions will accompany the head.

Im confused with all the head options. If I want a better head and i want it to transform with the figure, what are my options. Is Capcomkai making one now that does or this WeMakeWorks company? Or are they the same.

 

I believe WMW is producing the head and dino_model_shop and Capcomkai are selling them.

Idk about transformation though...

 

Right now there's no way for a bigger head to fit into the cavity for transformation. There original head is already using the maximum amount of space.

 

I also got the non-LED head, but I did order the base. I've already cut into my figure a lot so hopefully mine will be able to adjust the chest right away, but if not then I'm willing to cut more. Awesome that it will come with instructions! Must be part of why it's been taking so long. Plus the paint just looks perfect.

 

Why couldn't they at least try to match the colours? Especially at that price

 

How much are you seeing it for? I got mine for $38.

 

maybe it splits open or transforms? I'd hate to have to remove to transform.

 

I think the one Dino model shop is selling was confirmed as needing to be removed for transformation, but based on the pictures a few posts back the one Capcomkai is selling is the same size as the standard head so maybe that one doesn't require removal. I guess it's a tradeoff between getting a correctly proportioned head (Dino model) or transformable one (capcomkai), whilst both seem to be using the same designer.

 

Yep, dino told me today you'll have to remove the head for transformation.
