The Deluxes from Movie 1 to HFTD might be the kind of stuff you'd be looking for in that case. The downsides being that they're vastly less accurate and don't have as much character variety as MPMs.

Well, if we make a comparison we'd do a big question. Accuracy vs quality - quality vs accuracy, the old ones were really good despite of not having an advanced technology, but for many they had many missing details but quality was good, we've had great figures in these ten or thirteen years but whenever we see an improved one we start feeling uncomfortable with the old one,at the end this hobby has pros and cons,

If only the MPMs were actually made with the same effort as the normal MPs..
Is there even a reason why they should be cheaper? There wouldn't be even that much KO's of the mpms, as much as expensive they would be.

The MPMs are being sold at worldwide retail, in Hasbro territories, and that necessitates a lower price ceiling than what we're seeing with the standard MP line.

Fully done up like the standard MPs, and this would have easily been a ~$300 release, like Beast Megatron. But MSRP for MPM-10 is only half that.

I'll be surprised if the MPM has better build quality than the HFTD leader. Given how accurate and relatively recent the Studio Series Starscream was, I was expecting the MPM to surpass that and have better sculpt/articulation in robot mode than the HFTD leader. It succeeded in the latter.

I did have tempered expectations so I figured a truly kibblefree F-22 mode might not happen. Just wish it was as good as the Studio Series Starscreams(which have less kibble in jet mode).

This is just hard for me to justify and a little sad because even SS has some thrusters details...

    This x 100%
What I don't understand is how/why do the old leaders blow away the "Masterpiece" in terms of paint? Shouldn't the masterpiece be the ultimate figure with articulation, screen accuracy and paint? Both the old MPM Leader and the Buster Prime have nicer paint then their masterpiece counterparts.

I had Hasbro MPM4 Prime, sold him in favor of LT-02 version, which is much better. I wonder what I'll do this go round?

Yeah, that's the absolute only negative I see too.

Especially since those thrusters are such an iconic part of the Raptor.

    It's ok though.

I know they scale better. Instead of wanting oversized KO's, I'd like smaller figures. Though I am probably the minority.

I think it's more of an even split than you realize. I know that Shmop is with you. I let the quality of the officials make my decision. I went with an OS Prime to go with the carbots opposed to undersized carbots to go with a Prime and Ironhide that I'm disappointed with.

*Not that USKOs are even an option

I feel like HFTD/MPM1 actually pulled off a cleaner better alt mode (as did both DOTM and the SS figures) but that bot mode looks really nice. I do love that shot of all three together; makes me wanna get an MPM1 even more to go with this new one.

MPM10 has more accurate detailing and sculpt than the HFTD leader in jet mode but also has kibble to the sides(bars near intakes, parts behind wings but in front of the horizontal stabilizers) when viewed from the top. That's where the Studio Series one is more accurate than MPM10.

I find it funny how Jazz turned out to be the only one that looks good in both modes.

That scale is fantastic. I think he'll look good next to OS KO MPM's even.

personally I've found that mpm bee looks fine in both modes, barricade looks fine in both as well (though not as accurate). Ratchet is looking quite well in both modes (except head in bottom of car peekaboo) but jazz imo is the winner in official MPM.

MPM4 prime isn't /bad/ if not for the QC issues (and the alt mode is tiny). My biggest complaint for mpm04 prime was it's too small, and the rotf leader mold managed to keep a 1:30 scale in both both and alt mode whereas mpm ended up with much smaller alt mode (that doesn't tab in >.>)

Jazz as you said is definitely the one mpm that's hands down the best from the line IMO. This starscream looks decent, but nowhere the best IMO either. the jetmode just leaves a lot to be desired when we've seen a more sleek/streamlined jetmode from SS series (and argiuably the mpm01 leader mold too). Bot mode this wins hands down (sadly they couldn't do some sort of waist articulation but oh well) it seems.

Maybe they'll do a DOTM retooled prime with all the issues fixed! :-D

Yeah, MPM-3 Bee looks great in both modes. He's probably the most successful MPM overall so far (and the only one I still own). Don't know if they just put extra work into him because he was the flagship / re-launch figure for the line, or if his design just worked better for some reason.

I'm hoping they'll be able to re-capture some of this success when they finally get to Sideswipe. He's probably my favourite carbot design from the movies, and a "perfect" version of him would be amazing.

It's a good thing the robot mode is beautiful because the alt mode does not look worth it for how not fun the transformation appears to be. Maybe it's just TonTon being crap at transforming stuff, but it looks like a mess of panels and rods and double hinges. Why are the arms so damn complicated if they don't even clean up in alt mode? How did they manage to make the alt mode leg and pelvis storage look worse than the leader's when they copied how the leader did it? Why make it so fiddly when the alt mode is left with so much undercarriage junk?

The robot mode engine storage is really cool, though. That's a new idea and I like how it's handled.
