HASBRO, RERELEASE FALL OF CYBERTRON. IF YOU HAVE TO PAY ACTIVISION OR WHOEVER, DO IT. THEY DONT CARE ANOUT THE GAME, IT WONT BE THAT EXPENSIVE. JUST DO A DIGITAL RELEASE, AND A PHYSICAL ONE LATER IF ITS SUCCESSFUL.

Hasbro shouldn't ever do anymore contracts with that company again. It's what lead to the eventual downfall of TF games today.

Okay, so now that the thread has quieted down, it's time for a cold take on this whole debacle.

First off, this was a bad trailer. It showed very little, and its presentation seemed to confuse a lot of viewers. It did nothing to demonstrate gameplay, and its distant perspective didn't show off the graphics (which actually aren't as bad as the trailer suggests, the screenshots are just fine for this type of game). The accompanying marketing blurbs from the publisher also didn't really clarify much.

Second, it seems that a lot of this forum's readers and posters have forgotten about the multiplayer-focused Certain Affinity game, which is understandable because its announcement was a long time ago and contained even less information than this trailer. This caused a lot of people to get angry-- again, understandable-- that this poorly-explained, badly-showcased game was all they had to be looking forward to.

Third, there's the debate over this game's quality, which is admittedly kind of pointless. The game isn't out, and none of us have played it, so we can't really say whether or not it will be "good." It's absolutely within reason for people to say that it's not the kind of game they like, as that's a matter of opinion (there's' a larger debate to be had about whether the quality of a game is also subjective but for the sake of time I'm not diving into it here). The publisher, Outright Games, focuses on lower-budget licensed games. Their track record is not great. The developer, who actually makes the game, is Coatsink, who have made some interesting strategy and puzzle games like Kingdom Two Crowns. I'd say the developer actually is solid here, and can probably deliver a pretty competent game. But a game commissioned by Hasbro may have different guidelines and requirements than some of their indie work, and they may be pushed by the publisher to include lots of microtransactions or other questionable choices. But that's all speculation... because the truth is, as I've stated before, the game isn't out yet. It might be fine. It might be good. It might be terrible. But we just don't know yet. Ultimately, we're going to have to wait and see for both this and Certain Affinity's game.

I'll refrain from saying stuff about the actual gameplay and quality of the game, because who knows, we COULD hypothetically have the best TF game ever made. But this trailer was lackluster. And these graphics are simply not appealing. This map looks so basic and sterile, and the models seem almost dirty. I hope that we'll be able to see more from this game that, y'know, incentivizes people to buy it

    40 second trailer.
    18 seconds wasted on logos.
    Ugh, Cyberverse.

Gotta say this game went completely under my radar after watching the Horizon II Forbidden West trailer. If any one should make a transformers game I reckon Guerrilla Games should. They\'d knock it outa the park. After they\'ve finished Horizon\'s story of course. Still haven\'t checked out this Battlegrounds game trailer but reading these comment sections has pretty much already told me everything I need to know to be honest.

How do ya figure? People seemed to like the Cybertron games and Devastation well enough. It's not their fault that the contract expired and for some crazy reason that made them legally obligated to stop selling already-made games. Is there some hidden drama I've never heard about?

It's not the problem of the games themselves, Activision didn't do jack to barely advertise them. Which lead to below-average sales leading to the slow decline of not ever having a TF game with the budget of a WFC / FoC anytime soon. Devastation's sales were even lower than ROTDS which was a poor movie game. At that point, Hasbro didn't want to spend a million per game only to get poor sales.

Those cinematic trailers for FoC were probably also meant to be shown on TV aswell with the amount of effort put into them. Instead they were just tossed onto YouTube.

This. I have very low hopes for Battlegrounds, personally. Mainly due to it's publisher, who's infamous online for publishing somewhat of a smear of a game, Race With Ryan. The titular Ryan being the Ryan of Ryan's Toy Review, the kid who's raking in the most money on YouTube.

This kinda shit makes me glad that we still have Certain Affinity's game to wait for info on.

All of that marketing copy reads like it was written by someone who sincerely doesn't care at all

I think Hasbro has no idea how timing works. We're nearly half way though earthrise and we still don't have the siege cartoon out.

um. This does not look like a console game. This looks like another mobile fighting game at best. I'm trying to reserve judgment for this and the Netflix show, but Lord they are testing me.

I want a Transformers 'Just Cause 3 / Shadow of Mordor' type game - hear me out.

It's set in the classic G1 story of the Ark crashed in to a Volcano, then an eruption, and bots awaken, except this time...it's the Autobots who wake up first, not the Cons. The Autobots make contact with humans and go on to peacefully set up several major outposts across the planet, with more Autobot refugees arriving regularly. The deactivated Cons from the Ark stay imprisoned in what is essentially a 'stasis prison', located in separate containment facilities around the world until such time as the Autobots can develop the means of transporting them back to Cyberytron, winning the war, and making them stand trial.

Unknown to the Autobots though, one of the newest arrived refugees is actually a Decepticon spy, sent by Shockwave on Cybertron to investigate where all the remaining Autobots are disappearing to, and to find out the fate of the Ark from many years ago. This is the character that you play as - you would get to design your own custom G1 style transformer to play through the campaign, with frequent upgrades and new alt-modes to adopt (and bugger it, lets make the dude a triple changer, because reasons).

Gameplay would consist of traveling around the globe, taking over outposts, defeating armies of Autobots (with familiar faces in command of outposts as mini boss-battles) and one-by-one freeing the classic G1 Cons from stasis. As you unlock these guys it would give you companions, support options, new tech etc to use along the way (Seekers give air support, Astrotrain unlocks fast travel, some just do distractions/cover fire etc) Gradually taking over the map and rebuilding enough of your forces to launch an all out offensive to free Megatron, destroy the Autobots and take over the planet - and then the universe muahahaha etc etc.

Being the bad guy just makes so much more sense that the heroic Autobots, since playing as an evil giant robot on earth leads to more fun chaotic gameplay activities than a good guy, where you're bound by morals and can't hurt humans. Unless you're Jazz.

Instead, we're getting this shit. Oh well.

I would love to play that. I always loved the Decepticon campaign in WFC.

Activision is the most soulless video game publisher of them all. Make a game that doesn’t sell to their ridiculously high standards, and they will take the studio, cut 80 to 90% of the staff, and force the corpse of the studio to work on the next Call of Duty game. They are everything that is wrong with the gaming industry.

Like, did anyone look this company up? They make games for small children. Paw Patrol, Ben 10, nick jr shows. This game is meant for small children. It's going to come out and people are going to shit on it, because it's dumb and easy and the graphics suck. Yes, it's meant for kids 7-11. I will play it and love the hell out of it because I love those types of games. I seriously can't imagine anyone with any other mindset than "this is a game for young kids" enjoying this game. It will be hella fun and easy. I will be getting it for my 5 year old who will enjoy it for the characters and not care about the graphics.

Always a promising sign when a video game box has art re-used from toy packaging...

(I want so desperately to be wrong about this game, I do. But man, all the signs point to this just being a glitchy low-budget mess...)
