    Dang, this is cool.

As far as hands go... Alternators hands, if you can get 'em? The KFC articulated hands for MP-scale guys?

Right after I posted my last update, I remembered that I had a set of articulated hands meant for the MP Seeker mold. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find them last night, but I'll keep looking. I'm hoping those might work, otherwise I'll have to explore other options.

Alright, I have a slight dilemma regarding the hands. I like the size of the MP-10 hands in robot mode, but I won’t be able to make them hide entirely in tank mode without cutting a bunch of gaps in the arms for them to slide into. So, I can either find smaller hands which probably will make the robot mode suffer, or I can use the MP-10 hands and just have them stick out a little in tank mode. I’ve attached a few pics to show about how much of the hands will be exposed in tank mode (keep in mind they will be painted silver when it’s done).

I think that if they got painted purple, it would be fine. Or, instead of having them slide in, you could have a piece on that bit of the tank mode that slides over them.

I think once painted it won't really be that noticeable, at worst they look kind of like fuel tanks on the back of the turret? If you wanted I figure you could cut styrene sheets into flaps that fold over them?

You forgot about how the Autobots carry Prime's head around as he gives orders.

I thought about making some kind of flap to cover them in tank mode, but I don't know how I'd make them fold up for robot mode where they didn't stick out. Also, my scratch-building skills aren't that great so I'm not sure how well I'd be able to pull it off anyway.

EDIT: I looked up some pictures of M1A1 Abrams Tanks that this Megatron is based on, and many of them have some kind of rail and deck that extends out the back of the turret for cargo/supplies, so making something like that to cover the hands might actually be feasible...

Update: Got the right arm built like the left. Still have to attach the hands but I think I have that part figured out. I’m not 100% happy with the shoulders, but they’ll work for now until I can come up with a better alternative. I’ve also started building the mechanism to attach the legs since I got my styrene rods and tubes in the mail this week. Lastly, I gave him a new, erm, crotch. I wasn’t satisfied with how MP-10’s crotch looked on it, even painted, so I looked around and found one that fit and looks, in my opinion, a lot better.

This makes me want to restart mine. But I don’t have time anymore. he’s buried somewhere in my basement in hundreds of pieces. I remember trying to figure out a way to remove the shoulder cannon to mount on the arm, while keeping the electronics and wiring. Another hangup was his tiny feet and trying to make that better, but due to his design I couldn’t find a way to incorporate better articulation.

Make a brass knuckles that doubles as a cover piece.

Bonus points if you make it say "MEGA TRON" on the punchy part.

UPDATE: He’s got legs! And he can stand on them! I’m so excited to finally be at this point. When I started this 6-ish years ago, I had no idea how I was going to pull this off. And, well, somehow I did. The mechanism is quite simple, actually. The challenging part was getting everything to line up just right.

    C38C4559-CE7A-46D2-95BB-68C07D3E45DC.jpeg

They lock into place semi-solidly. It’s not the best connection, but it’ll do for now. I would like to come up with some kind of locking mechanism to hold them in place more solidly, but I’m not sure how much I can fit in there since space is pretty tight as it is.
Here’s a shot next to an unmodded G2 Megatron for size comparison:

    9AC8B1E9-33BA-47DF-988F-E8EFC0E0AC77.jpeg

and some alt mode pics (which is pretty much unchanged):

    2F449D01-2A5A-43DF-918D-FB0DFF470600.jpeg

So, most of the build is done at this point. The only major thing I have left is fitting the hands, but I pretty much know how I’m going to do it. I also need to add heel supports since he can’t stand in any pose other than straight-legged without tipping over. Then it’s just a matter of cleaning it up, filling some gaps, and painting. I want to give him ankle rockers too but I don’t know if it’s even possible. I have one other upgrade for it but I’m not going to reveal that just yet...

Maybe you can make bigger feet that cover the hands...?

I was thinking about it, but so far I haven't found suitable feet that will work for the space allowed.

Unfortunately the feet and hands end up in different areas in alt mode so I don't think that will work. I've been tossing around a couple ideas that I might try after I get everything else done on the build.

Maybe alter the transformation of the lower legs so you can turn the tank parts upside down. Then you could attach his new feet where his former knees are and the new feet would end up in the back of the tank in alt mode. maybe do something like SIEGE Megatron for his feet. And for the legs look at the lower leg transformation of Combiner Wars figures/molds like Offroad/First Aid, Rook/Swindle, all the aircrafts and Hot Spot/Onslaught.
