I don't watch Cyberverse but, in my opinion, this is probably the best looking figure out of that franchise I've ever seen! Oh wow! I actually like her a little more than the upcoming ER version  . Someone hold me!

Oh, right! Lol, sorry. Well, Elita-1 I suppose has some bulk in a similar way, so maybe her? Yeah now that I think of it, Strongarm really is an outlier like that. She's Kind of the Gina Carano of female Transformers. I DO hope they bring her back, even if it's not the same continuity. Sorta like they did with Bulkhead.

Because the animated vehicle mode wasn't her G1 mode (so ER is out the window) and, in general, molds can't have that level of complexity at the $20 price point.

Eh, I think it could be adapted. Not exactly but I can see how and where it would work, though not 1 for 1 like when people were putting G1 Arcee heads on their Animated figures and calling that good, lol. I just think it would be better than unfolding a robot from inside a car shell and either taking 2/3rds of the car off or folding it in half on her back. I understand I don't have a popular opinion of ER Arcee but I just think for the price point Hasbro could have done better. Also, I wouldn't necessarily say that Animated Arcee was more complex than we have today, even compared to certain aspects of ER Arcee. Animated Arcee was far less complex than her Generations counterpart and compared to many Siege figures like say Hound for example, I see more complexity there than Animated Arcee. I mean we get ankle tilts and wrist joints across the line now, that hardly ever happened in Animated.

Eh, I dunno. I just think Hasbro could have done something with that transformation even if it was just for Cyberverse.

They're very good toys. You just have to remember they don't have the same budget as Generations or Studio Series. I'd probably put them a half step between the old warrior class, and regular deluxes. They have a slightly higher parts count, but still have the limited paint apps.

I wasn't really meaning the specific transformation. More that part of the car actually goes into her legs, like a real Transformer.

It's not just the budget. BAF parts, and blast effects to a lesser extent, have compromised the figures. Those parts are not "free". It would have been significantly better without the BAF parts.

Yet, in Canada at least, they're sold for the same price.

I'd have collected the whole Cyberverse BAF series if they were, say, $15 each and not $30.

There's no way that the blast effect and BAF parts cannibalized that much from the budget. Hot Rod is two moulded colours of plastic, with barely any paint work to break it up. His wheels aren't even a different colour.

There's some Legends class figures that manage better than that.

And in the US, they're actually more expensive at Target stores. ($22.99 for the Cyberverse deluxes vs $19.99 for the Siege/Earthrise/Studio Series deluxes.) And the MSRP is the same regardless. It's just madness for how fucking chintzo the Cyberverse stuff looks.

That must vary by location, because all Deluxes (WFC, SS, Cyberverse) are $20 at my local Targets.

Hotrod is just weird. The actual toy is really good. It's not just the lack of paint that's the problem. Half the paint that is on it is wrong. The legs being orange instead of yellow. The chest headlights and shoulders not being light blue. The autobot symbol on the roof of the car instead of the hood.

I'm usually not a dude to complain much about paint apps, but I gotta say I agree here. Hot Rod was the first Cyberverse toy I had because I'll buy any Hot Rod they make, and while I loved his design and enjoyed how posable he was (all things considered), but I was sort of...sad to see just how monochromatic he was. He's a pretty busy design on the cartoon, by Cyberverse standards, so I wasn't expecting them to hit all of it, but dang, they couldn't even get his spoiler the right color?

As a Hot Rod fan it really saddened me that he got the cheap end of the stick so bad.

How did we go from "I love this character in the show but it's a shame their toys are shit" to "I love the design of this figure but it's a shame he doesn't do much in the show" within the same series/toy line?

The first part is about Shadow Striker who still does not have any decent figures. I would love two figures of her, one pre-accident and one after being rebuilt by Shockwave. She's such a great tragic villain with an interesting back story and a cool design but her toys are shit.

The second part is about Thunderhowl. I will be getting that Deluxe figure, not just because I want to complete Maccadam but because it actually looks like a good figure and I really like his design. But it seems after his introduction episode he was just kind of there and even his introduction wasn't a very good episode. He's just given nothing to do other than exist and look cool.

This has happened before of course but it's usually across an entire series or toy line. I think this is the first time there has been a shift within the same series/toy line where it started out I hate the toys but like the show to I like the toys but don't really care for the show.

There's a few other characters like that too. I have Hammerbyte I picked that one up a while ago just cause I like the design and I was also kind of disapointed to find out he only appears in one kind of poorly written episode only to never be seen again.

Anyway... main point here... I can't wait to get my hands on that Thunderhowl.

No Arcee today. Barely any CV TFs on the shelf at all, except Grimlock, Optimus and Megatron.
