who knows what’s going to happen with the economics in the next year. Some people might have no other option but eat the $100 deposit and cancel.

Sooooo, best case scenario is when the KOguys who ordered 1 or 2 of these to replicate go live?

    Wow, four? Hardcore.

I considered a third, before the pre-order window closed, to display one in planet mode with another in robot mode close by.

I couldn't justify the third, though. Two is plenty, and is two more than I thought would be possible before EB Games stepped up.

There ya go! One for bot mode display, one for planet mode display, one for bot mode play and one for planet mode play?
I almost bought two, but decided to wait for either a ko or zeta’s to resurface. Haslab will be my planet mode unicron. Zeta will be my robot mode. If a ko comes out of Unicron, I still might get it too.

Getting rid of the shell might be as easy as removing a pin or two. Like this one here:

I'd honestly just sell my spot in line at that point.

I can picture the other half of the forum flipping out because Unicron is a $600 "partsformer."

Many thanks! Appreciate all the help everyone has been giving.I totally get core star, with it's lack of kibble and inventive transformation. But it I don't feel it will have the same presence as the Hasbro Unicron. Just seeing a massive imposing figure of this size has to be an ultimate piece in anyone's collection. You're probably right though I might get lucky.

I wish I knew how to use photoshop. I'm curious what he'd look like a tad more orange and with the kibble removed. I have a feeling it would make him my favorite figure in my collection, if he isn't already

I can’t do digibashing but I can clumsily paint with my index finger on my iphone, so here you go.

I don’t think the leg and back kibble will be removable (well, without doing things like removing pins), but the spike strips are separate pieces.

That looks really good actually. I like it. It's not like I mind the extra pieces. I mean I DID order him. I was just curious

i really think haslab will do their absolute best to make sure this bot does that and beyond. unlike their string of shit mp releases. this definitely could have a major effect on future crowd funding successes good or bad.

heck there were even guys who sat this out because they were worried about the quality and it matching the mp's as of late.

lol...as funny as that sounds i also think that would definitely start the beginning of the end for 3rd party as we know it. if someone just blatantly did that there would be chaos onnthe horizon. zetacron is one thing but knocking their flagship bot would be a declaration of war.

Nah. Hasbro/Takara got their money. They MIGHT go after the KO factory, but it's doubtful. More than likely, a KO would be an oversimplified version or a shrunk version like CW Devastator. Overall, most 3p are not much of a target of Hasbro. Usually the times they take action are with direct ko's (the MP03 igears and the movie kos of weijiang). They haven't shown any interest in stopping Fanstoys, Maketoys, XTB, etc. Zeta was an unusual headbutting of bad timing. Zeta already leaked the teaser a few months earlier. Had they shown Core Star in November or December after the haslab campaign, it would have not annoyed hasbro at all.

Hasbro was put in a corner. Zeta was chest-thumping during the campaign. Many of the Zeta fans and Hastak white knights were posting Zeta pics on official Hasbro social media. A few collectors were getting soft on their backing, but more importantly, some of the wholesale partners investing in the haslab wanted the usurper crushed. Hasbro was forced to protect their IP. Even so, they didn't destroy Zeta. They just stopped them from advertising and producing the piece during the campaign. Could have been a LOT worse.

Also, Unicron is far from the "flagship character" for the brand. He's a niche market collectible. Their Flagship character doesn't warrant any special protection. Remember, Hastak did nothing to Magic Square or Transform Element and they were direct competition with MP44, who is only a few dollars less than Unicron. They didn't publicly poke Hastak in the eye. Hasbro is quite chill for an "evil mega-corporation".

i am not talking about any of that other bs. i am just saying if someone did a 1:1 ko of this hascron . they would most likely have the full wrath of the company coming down on them and anyone around.

the same could be said if there were ever to be a 1:1 of the barge. there are certain things that a company simply cant ignore.

You said a KO would be the end of 3P. I'm saying there is no way would it "end 3p as we know it". At most it would end ONE company. They'd scurry, a few would get squished, most would hide under the fridge, but as soon as the lights are out, the KO scene would be right back up and going.

Sailbarge is a different matter entirely. It'd have the attack by Disney and Hasbro. So it would be Disney spearheading the attack. Even then, there are TONS of KO disney product out there, and it's beyond what Disney can contain. So far, however, it's not mass marketed like the transformers KOs. Disney would go after any western retailer selling the KO and crush them.

China knocks off Star Wars and Disney all the time and still major brands are catering to the Chinese market more than ever.

Even when the [death and doom to third party] bringers here drag in the stories of police "crack downs" in Chinese factories you can readily buy KO Lego and Harmony Gold properties.

The only way to get China's attention would be to pull every manufacturing job out of the country and impose embargoes upon all outgoing shipments. But where else in the world are you going to find a 900,000,000 strong cheap labor force with little to no regard for environmental policies?

    China doesn't care.

That's basically what I said. At most, they could close ONE company, or attack western importers, but there really isn't anything they can do to stop it. They can only hope to contain it to China.

They can't even hope to do that.
